Gary being modest. Love the way he always brings Tom into the story and shares the credit with him.

I loved the way the Concours judges messed with your head talking about whether the wheels should have been shiny or satin ! 😅 Looks like there’s an update coming involving 6 tubes of Autosol polish and several microfibre towels instead of a respray / refurb on those original rims !

That was a lovely scene with the former workers clearly quite taken with your car. I would imagine they were seeing things like screws and the like untouched in a way they hadn't seen in 30 years or so. Tom really did a great job and no better man than your good self to continue the journey. Great job on the seats too! Maybe next year you could take it up to Scotland for old time's sake.

Absolutely fantastic job on the interior. Your man did a stunning job. That dash n centre console will be the bees knees once done. Wish I’d kept my 85 Excel and started on your journey. Hilarious to see the JPS emblazoned Sinclair C5 😂. But lovely to see Hethel. Been there a few times and the good fortune to go around their test track. Even met Clive Chapman at the Lotus 40th birthday event there. Lotus runs in my blood. Love your vids our kid. Keep em coming

Great result for the Elite Gary and fully deserved and as you say only original once, long may it continue. Also how cool is that when you own a Lotus you get to meet the former MD of Lotus and Colin' Chapman's right hand man Mike Kimberley. Mike is always making comments about Lotus cars of any age or condition on the Facebook pages which makes the ownership even more special....🙂

There is something just so right about Tom passing on his beautiful cars to you for you to continue on the stewardship and care of them. It's very fitting that the lotus received a special award for its amazing history and back story. It would have been lovely for Tom to have been present on the day, I'm sure he's delighted that both cars have went to their new custodian. Does my heart good 👍

Maybe it is my age, or state of mind, but watching this episode brought a tear to my eye..The recognition on how well the previous owner loved this car, as well as the effort Gary put in to make this car as close as original as can be without making it a show car is priceless. Gary, you almost would have ruined the interior with white/yellow leather upholstery and greyish/black piping, but I hope you see now how clean the car looks with this probably way more original cloth, one tone fabric seats.
@drew699Ай бұрын
Great to see more Lotus content! I definitely subscribe to Alan Clarke’s view that old cars should remain as original as possible with a faded patina of originality, rather than a nut and bolt prissy restoration. Elite looks great and is a true survivor car. Thanks for posting.

The highlight for me in this video was when the judges and original assembly workers asked Gary to reconsider entry into the judging event. They really appreciated the provenance of Tom Hale's loving story and how Gary did his best to keep the car mostly original. Tom will be so proud. 😊
