THE PROPHECY SET IN THE STONE TABLETS HAS BEEN FULFILLED!!! IT IS BUT A JOYOUS DAY IN THE JIRACHI HOUSEHOLD!!! First of all, as usual, thank you for playing and being as critical as you are. This is probably my best received script, and the one I'm most proud of, but it's not without its issues and you rightly addressed them. This script was an experiment for a few things: 1) Testing the water with stage design massively. Many CAVE shmups and the like focus on streaming primarily with a few set obstacles that mix for flavor. I brought that to its logical extreme with...mixed results. Though all the music syncing is absolutely my best work and I continued using this style of stage a few times! Lightning in a bottle fades after a few uses though and I need to cut back a bit. 2) This is... The first script I've done in a long time that is neither derivative of something else entirely, or overlooked with massive cooperation. I've found both of these things very limiting as a scripter with... Let's say artistic ideals. I've always wanted to see what happens if a script I plan like a mad scientist, meticulous in every little detail, with NO input from other people first gets... put into the wild. It was... The most freeing experience I've ever had. I love working with others, but being able to translate thought to script and no filter being necessary is a joy unlike any other. 3) Going for Spectacle Over Function. I am typically known in the scripter community for making some fun patterns to play, but usually at the cost of absolutely zero flair. I don't really frill my patterns. I wanted to go in completely the opposite direction and FRILL THIS SCRIPT TO HELL AND BACK. I did have a love for flashy intros, and the TLB's attacks being all based on FF14 White Mage spells is me just flexing. The script is obviously imperfect, and if I could go back in time I would nerf both the first non and the final on Byakuren - I would rather the script overall be too easy than have this absurd...cliff of difficulty. You make a good point about Dia in the TLB... Honestly this is the point where flavor took an L. This was because Dia is the damage over time effect used at the start of any healer rotation on a boss, and I wanted her to have something that resembles one. Very good point though. This was...timely, sure. It was worth the wait. Thank you so much, as always, for what you do for the scripting community. We'll never forget it. EDIT: LOVE YOU TOO BEE THANK YOU

That TLB was really cool! I have not played the critically acclaimed FFXIV with free expansions and free candy, but it was really cool how you borrowed mechanics from it for the fight. I always love to see when people experiment with mixing up danmaku with other game genres :>

It's always nice to see older members of the community find some time to make something again and knock it out of the park. I actually really like the stage design here. It's based on how other shmups do it and I find those types of stages way more engaging to play through than in Touhou IMO. In most Touhou games I feel like I'm trying to not fall asleep at the wheel more than anything else, because most stages are simple and there really isn't too much in the way of threats. Which makes repeated playthroughs feel like a boring wait until the boss shows up. (although some games like UFO, DDC, LoLK, have mechanics that make it more engaging or have more complex stage design) Constant pressure via things like streaming makes you constantly engaged with the game. Although admittedly there should have been more kinds of streaming formations than just the repeated red aimed arrow spam... (even just changing their bullet types would have worked great for making it feel more fresh). Also that intro is very creepy until the music kicks in....

Neat script, though not for me I love musically synced stages, but there was just way too much streaming, which makes it either annoying, or boring Also, I feel like there's definitely a certain flair with bullets coming out fast and slowing down on the way, makes the pattern feel like it has more impact, very noticeable on the TLB Very slow bullets work well when it's really dense, but if they're not, it just looks like they're shooting lazily This is also the reason why the non TLB last spell is probably my favorite spell here

Lotus Buster should've been just a giant flare of light that covers the screen and fucking kills you. I don't know how true that would've been to FFXIV and I don't actually care, I just like the idea of seeing you react to that.

In hindsight I definitely should've done that. "Lotus Buster" is what the FF14 community would call an enrage, so it's an attack that KOs the entire party if you don't deal damage fast enough to stop it from casting. The fact that it didn't just blank the screen or do a Spark-like thing is a missed opportunity lmao
