So glad you addressed this brand. And for once, I actually was fortunate to grab the original before the change.

Me too! I just started looking into tequila for a change from whisk(e)y. I grabbed a 1579 Pasote repo on a whim, tried the blanco and was blown away. Someone on a FB group let me know it was changing NOMs so I scooped up some for me and a few buddies.

You and the tequila hombre are the only ones who've done the side-by-side and the both of you are my go-tos on recommendations. It's interesting how you came to different conclusions which might just be pallet differences. He thinks the rainwater experiment was a miss for Felipe muting the complexities in flavors and shortening the finish, but makes things smooth which he admits people may prefer. He claimed the new one had more complexities come through probably due to the different water content. 90% of the time your reviews are in alignment, but every once in a while you guys go in a different direction which is fascinating. Another example would be the Volans SS. Volans SS had a lot of heat which I wasn't too much a fan of first try before the flavors kicked in. However, on second sipping I was a few drinks in so my mouth was well acclimated and the heat that bothered me the first time almost completely subsided at it was delicious popping with all sorts of flavor. I'll have to give the new pesote a try as I'm very curious to continue discovering my pallet preferences

Just bought a bottle of the new NOM. It’s certainly a sweet, easy drinker with a clean finish. However, the nose kills it for me. Unfortunately it smells much like the grain forward aromas of a Jose Ceurvo Esp and that’s the first thing that hits the senses. First bottle from TequilaMM I haven’t particularly enjoyed. This is margarita bottle for me now.

1579 blanco and repo Pasote are still on the shelves in places like missoula, Montana, as of may 26, 2023. Ironically, the anejo Pasote we have at this time, and for months now, comes from the new distillery. I hope they’re not just using up old labels or something. The tequila Ive been getting is excellent either way, so I am happy.

Your reaction when nosing the 1584 gave away what you thought of the new Pasote. Which makes me wonder if your muscle memory of 1579 affected or influenced your initial reaction to the 1584?
@longislandloutequila72082 жыл бұрын
Not sure, but I thought the anejo was really good, but as soon as I took one sniff of that blanco, I knew that something was way different. It's not as good, but just very different. It had a musty type of presence.

Nice review. I have been wondering about the difference with new distillery. Question: do you think the previously opened Pandillo blanco vs just opened new stuff made a difference? As always, thanks for the review.
@robertmyers57632 жыл бұрын
I opened new bottles from 1579 and 1584. IMO, 1584 doesn't compare favorably in any way. There's a funk or maybe mustiness like Lou said. My bottle also has this burnt, nutty character that made it not sippable for me, and equally not good in a mixed drink. Very sad for a brand I held in such high esteem.
@longislandloutequila7208 Жыл бұрын
I personally don't think so. I've tried a fresh bottle of both recently, and the new stuff although drinkable, is all vanilla/cinnamon cake icing
@manhattan70552 жыл бұрын
My Pasote anejo order arrived in the mail lastweek, was hoping it would be the old stuff. It's the new NOM, it's really tasty, wasn't anything like my Tepozan Anejo, but it's not what I'm looking for in my tequila. It's so cinnamon sweet like I'm eating cinnamon toast crunch. Don't want my go to tequila's to taste like candy. Good to have on occasion and for other people to try.
@longislandloutequila72082 жыл бұрын
Interesting you say that, because if you look at my video, I said the same thing about the new line. The anejo had less of that cinnamon cake/icing thing, but it's kinda weird. It's saying additive free, so that's a little strange. I think it's drinkable, but it's definitely not what it was for sure.

I had thought Pasote was a family Camarena creation , the first coming out of his new distillery . No ?
@longislandloutequila72082 жыл бұрын
No not at all, Felipe Camarena produced it at 1579, but never owned any of it. The contract ended, they left, and they're at a new distillery... nothing to do with Camarena anymore

@longislandloutequila72082 ай бұрын
- I don't know what you mean by traditional? If you mean the original, I have no idea. You can't find them anymore too easily, so if you ever see one with the bigger, rounder etched bottles, that's it, or even the newest labels that you see, you have to look at the Nom, if its 1579... that's the one you want

Hey Lou. Was at a small liquor store in San Diego and found the “original” pasote. Blanco and repo maybe there was anejo. They have a few more, I can always swing back there if you want some. I find it too “earthy” myself. Had the old repo at a bar in Chicago not long ago. They accidentally served it over the blanco but I enjoyed it. Very easy to drink and I’m not a fan of repo/anejo. “You gotta wonder” lol crack me up.

It was a last minute pit stop with my daughter. She had to pick up some grain alcohol because she's making limoncello that she learned how to make in Italy. And oh my god, did it come out good. Did you notice they don't have Fortaleza anymore, guy told me they're on assignment, they get a couple at the beginning of most months, and they didn't have G4. More bad news, was the guy told me they're going to stop getting Terralta because they have no distributor anymore... I don't know what that's about
@Materman762 жыл бұрын
@@longislandloutequila7208 you know, I normally spend a lot of time in their tequila aisle, but I happened to be running in for Bourbon. Their tequila/mezcal section has developed quite nicely over the last year or two to the point that they even had some Sotol and Raicilla. It's sad to see them regress. Hopefully it's just a short term thing.

How long does tequila last before taste gets effected if stored in cool dark place after opened. I hear so many different things. Thanks
@longislandloutequila7208 Жыл бұрын
I just did a video on that. There's no set time, and a lot of times it depends on how the top was made and how good the seal is, as well as the type of material the bottle was made out of. Sometimes you get lucky if it had a good seal after it was opened, and it was put back in that environment. It could last a few years as I have had that happen with me. I just don't take the chance with expensive bottles that I plan to put away for awhile. I usually seal my opened bottles with parafilm, as it's very cheap and can be purchased online.
