I met Lou many times over the years after concerts. A very cordial, intelligent, funny man. One of a kind.

We lost that particular battle with the Health and Building departments, but most of what we believed in has been -- or is being -- absorbed by Consensus Reality.

I am surprised that Lou made no mention of the Limeliters. They made good use of his intelligence and Glens voice…

OMG, I just found this interview with Lou Gottlieb and Jerry Brown where he talks about the Morning Star Ranch that I was just telling my facebook friends about. "We took a friend, Gary Ward back home where I met the bass player, Lou Gottlieb at Morning Star Ranch in CA back in 1969 or 1970. He had purchased the land and willed it to God, so everyone could use it. He had a one room cabin built in the center of the land. The only thing in the cabin was a grand piano in the middle of the room. Hippies built tents and tree houses to live in on the land to live in. It was a very interesting visit to a strange little corner commune of musicians, flower children and peace anti-war protestors." Does anyone know if the Vegetarian Morning Star brand is connected to this ranch?

Hi Jayne: Morning Star brand has nothing to do with the ranch. Gary Ward I vaguely remember. If you know anyone who wants a million-dollar 15-year tax write-off, the ranch is for sale for $1.4 million and we have a land trust willing to act as a beneficiary for a land donation. It would be tragic if it went to a developer. More pot has been smoked per acre on that property than anywhere I can imagine, except perhaps Hippie Hill or the Kumbha Mela in India.

According to the wiki on Lou his kids sold the land to a developer. The sad fact is that with>> 100 million/year more since the early 60s overpopulation and over immigration are the hottest fuel driving climate change-and land acquisition for obvious reasons.
