These guys that you host. I have followed Jack Neary and Lou Murdica for decades. In various ways, these guys are pioneers to the world of bolt gun competitions. When you three guys are speaking, I really grow a set of big ears And I have never not learned something out of it. Thank you for capturing these conversations. I think they will be timeless and good for the sports.

Great video Erik. When you mention that people sometimes have 'opinions wrapped around facts' I draw a parallel with driving to work in the HOV lane... Sometimes I feel like I want to encourage folks to continue driving to work in the single occupancy lanes because if they were to move over to the HOV lanes, they would increase my commute time!! LOL!! Cheers!

Huh! Did I hear Lou say Iosso? That makes me feel good about the two tubes I bought after Jack’s interview! If you get the chance ask Lou if he knew Warren Page who authored The Accurate Rifle? That book, about bench rest, is the reason I started reloading over 30 plus years ago. Keep them coming Erik!

I will say this; since I began cleaning until the rifle is clean after shooting I can see a difference in the rifle. I now know exactly where the first round will impact at 1k yards. I will never buy another barrel that isn't stainless steel. I use abrasives as well. Iosso is the best I have seen. Cleaning the neck area has also changed how the rifle groups. It's just so interesting to me how the ritualistic methodology of long-range shooting can make such a difference. I now trim to the exact lengths every time. I've noticed it makes a shift in impact as well. Kinda crazy how these small things make huge impacts @ longer ranges. Watching Lou discuss this topic is just mind blowing.

You are very supportive with your information. Once I took a drill motor and a wire cleaning brush to lightly burnish? case mouths. The rounds shot surprisingly tight. I will follow up on that. Thanks for your tips.

I have watched Lou’s interview many times and pick up little bits every time. I recently read article on Butch Fisher another Benchrest shooter, who has sadly past away. My question is what does Lou think of Mr. Fisher’s bore cleaner?
@rob1135
@rob1135 2 жыл бұрын
Erik, I would love to know if the benchrest guys care about ES/SD when developing loads. I understand groups are all that matters in comp for them, but do they see POI changes from ES variation at the distances they shoot. Follow up to that, especially for Lou since he also shoots FClass, at what distance does ES really matter?

Great interview. Two things caught my attention, first with that sensitivity to trim length, what kind of neck clearances does he run for length and O.D.? I assume he neck turns too. Second, when you are shooting one hole groups at 100 yards, wouldn't a 300 yard group be helpful to see what is going on inside of that? Thanks!

So, I test at 100 as well and believe in if it won't shoot at 100 it won't shoot at distance. I have a question tho, given a distance capable cartridge, have you seen a gun shoot great at 100 but poorly at distance?
