Lou was the The Encyclopedia of Notre Dame football. The magazine is going to miss him tremendously. Don't know how you will even begin to be able to replace him.

There's only one Lou. He WAS Notre Dame Football. You will be greatly missed.

The only person in the real world who had the genuine kindness of Ted Lasso was Lou. Completely different mannerisms, but the same goodness of heart.

Anytime Lou was on one of the KZbin posts it was a must watch event. I like to think I know a lot about football in general and ND football in particular. I always learned something new when Lou spoke.

@@NotreDameFightingIrish Oh come on man, for you to even do that show...speaks volumes, I doubt that I could have...life is extremely tough brother.

To those who fervently wish to be a part of the Notre Dame family, Lou's gentle manner spoke through his work as though he was a 'friend on the inside.' My deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Lou's family and friends on the heartbreak of his early passing. To countless admirers both across the country and around the world, Lou will be forever missed. Onward to victory.

I don't know if there are enough good words to describe Lou. Thoughts and prayers for his family including the BGI family. Is hard to believe Lou has gone home so soon.

Well done gents. I can imagine that it has not been easy dealing with the shock and the loss. I never met the man and yet I felt like I was hit with a steamroller when I first read the news. He will be missed, can not be replaced, but has built a wonderful foundation from which you all will grow.

Great show guys.. I have been a subscriber to Blue & Gold since the early 80s.. I always read lou's column first.. I had the chance to meet him back in the 90s and we discussed the whole Lou Holtz resignation.. He was Terrific!!

I can't believe he is gone, he was the most educated person i have ever known on irish football, i grew up on him and blue and gold illustrated, me and my Dad, who passed away in 2008 and him calling me to tell me, he just got the new blue and gold for the week and when i could come over and pick it up.....notre dame(and maybe they already have) needs to do a huge tribute to him....i am crying as i type this and i never even met the man but what a great ambassador for notre dame football, notre dame football coverage will never be the same!!!!!
