Another great video Lou I had a Uncle that loved the 55 through 57 Thunderbirds and the Corvettes. He he a 1960 Thunderbird when he was young but always wanted one of the two seater Thunderbirds. My grandpa ran a wrecking yard from the 1940s to about 1980 and he bought a wrecked 57 Thunderbird that had been hit in the passenger side quarter panel hard. My Uncle pulled the motor and transmission and put the 312 and automatic in his 1956 Ford Crown Victoria. I have the hubcaps off of the wrecked 57 Thunderbird but that's all that's left of it. Back then my grandpa had no idea those car would become collectors items. So sadly it got crushed. Grandpa always said that he only wished he knew back then what all those old cars would be worth someday.

A beautiful example of another perfect automotive creation. The soft white interior and the black cloth top makes for a nice contrast with the blue body. I love too how the car has a nice high sporty stance. They look rather heavy when they're on sagging springs. Frank mentioned the downsized repro steering wheel. I must say I dislike those very much. They're thicker too. Those old large thin steering wheels are one of my favorite parts of classic cars. They look proportionate to the car too. Oh, and I cringe when I see those sloppy Pep-boys steering wheel wraps on a beautiful classic!! LOL Great vid Lou.

Hi Lou, I must comment and mention another great video. The 57 Thunderbird is no doubt one of the finest designs of the nineteen fifties. Frank mentioned the 2001 or 2002 T Bird, or shall we refer to the car as the retro bird. Well, believe it or not, one of my first cousins actually designed the retro bird. His name is Mark Conforzi. Look him up on the internet. Although he retired about four years ago, he became one of the top designers at Ford, winning an award for it`s design. As always Lou, take care and stay healthy in these challenging times. Brian

The "poverty" wheel covers were the same for Ford and Thunderbird in 1957. But the turbine wheel covers, although similar, differed between Fords and Thunderbirds in 1957. In 1955 and 1956 Thunderbird did NOT have exclusive wheel covers. But there were 3 options. The "poverty" (I call dog dish) covers. The full wheel cover or a wire hubcap that incorporates the "poverty" cover to make it complete.

@@loucostabile You're welcome. These T-Birds were my first automotive love. I had 3 1956 and 3 1957 T-Birds in my life. One of each year had the overdrive transmission (they are a blast). I have moved on to Buicks and Cadillacs since around 1989 however. I will always have a soft spot for Fords, but GM cars ride and handle so much better. But whenever I see a 1955-57 T-Bird I get nostalgic. Heck I even have dreams about them! Your channel is full of T-Birds and Buicks so you have entertained me quite a bit.
