Concours d'Elegance example. That means this car has had the highest standard possible restoration - there is no higher standard. The BEST of the best example. It is eligible to enter any Concours d'Elegance show and I believe it would easily win a trophy in its category. I completely fell in love with this stunning '71 Charger R/T 440+6 4-Speed in FE5 bright red as WELL as owner Richard Boehl who I so admire. His attitude back in the day is so similar to mine. I racked up speeding ticket after speeding ticket on motorcycles I owned over here in New Zealand...and paid them all off though. I lost my driver's license exactly one month after I gained it after performing a dangerous piece of driving while at the wheel of a friend's 1964 Vauxhall Velox PB 2.6L 6cyl engine. I was 15. Back to the '71 Charger R/T. Loved it when it got cranked up. Wow a very quiet 440ci [inside the engine]. Congratulations owner Richard Boehl your mopar muscle car is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Thank you to vid uploader LOU COSTABILE greatly appreciated as always! If you would like to view a photo album of all my 10 motorcycles I owned over a decade, with the final #10th bike providing an interesting story please click here: www.flickr.com/photos/35707376@N00/albums/72157713681398176

Absolutely Gorgeous!! The Dodge Charger is the most beautiful car ever made. The 68 through 72's were the best and the 71 was THE HEIGHT of perfection!! This car is a beauty!!!

Lou Constable Thanks for the reply! Back in the 80's I had a 72, Jet Black Charger with a 68 Road Runner, 440 Six- Pack motor. It was originally a 400 Magnum car, but I got a great deal on a completely rebuilt, balanced and blueprinted, 440 Six- Pack motor, from a friend who bailed on his Road Runner project before he put the motor in it! I needed a hood with the Power Bulge, to fit over the manifold and carburetors of my new engine, so I called Year One Mopar, out in Arizona and I'll never forget what the guy on the phone said when I asked if he had a Power Bulge hood for a 72 Charger. He told me he had good news and bad news. I asked what the bad news was, and he said he DIDN'T have a Power Bulge hood for a 72 Charger. So I asked what the good news could possibly be, and he told me that he had a MINT condition, 71 Super Bee hood, with the Power Bulge and fiberglass insert!! I remember almost yelling : "THAT'LL WORK!!" (cause, obviously, I knew it'd fit!) So I got it for a mere 500 bucks, crated and shipped to my house in 3 DAYS! God I LOVED that hood! Almost no one knew that was a stock Mopar hood and it looked gorgeous in glossy black with the matte finish insert and the red and chrome numbers and letters proudly displaying her Power Plant! That car had the most perfect, glossy black finish ANYONE had ever seen! It was flawless, not even a ding! When parked next to any other, so called, black car, the other car LITERALLY PALED in comparison! People would ask if it was Lacquer or Imron, but it was just good old Enamel, DONE RIGHT! I also had the "Go Wing" spoiler, the cut outs for the dual exhaust in the rear valence, the Rally 72 tail lights (cool!) , a full black vinyl top, and a MINT condition black leather interior with, get this, A BENCH SEAT! Weird huh? It was an automatic on the column (I put a shift kit in it) It had a 727 Torque Flight transmission and a Dana 60 rear end. The car WAS CERTAINLY NOT a stock original! Kinda like a Frankenstein Charger, but you couldn't turn more heads in a car unless you could make one LEVITATE!!! After the flawless, Jet Black paint, I had both bumpers re- chromed and replaced every chromed aluminum strip, letters, Sail Pillar, deck lid Charger-Dodge Division emblem and even a brand spanking, new Mopar Penistar! The car was about as flawless as it gets! God I miss that car! I've always been a Charger fan since I was a kid. No other car compares as far as I'm concerned. Good luck with your baby!!! And thanks again for your friendly reply!

My family owned a '71 Charger RT for 25 years; dark bronze metallic with the 440 Magnum & Torqueflite Slapstik. It was fully loaded with all the SE options as well - covered headlights, full vinyl roof, cruise control, AC, cassette deck, power windows, etc. Stunning vehicle that I'll never forget. This one really brings back the memories!

Biggie - Excellent comment bro! I have absolutely loved the story of Richard Boehl's stunning Concours d'Elegance [highest possible standard restoration, the BEST of the best essentially, it doesn't get any better. Utter quality] '71 Charger R/T 440+6 4-Speed in FE5 bright red. Please read my just completed comment. Wow I'll bet you guys had some awesome fun times in the Charger. I behaved similarly over here in New Zealand in the 1980s though on my motorcycles. I was a truck mechanic by trade, completed an apprenticeship 8,000 hours between 1982-1985, worked in a GM franchise and it sold/serviced/maintained mainly Bedford & Isuzu brand trucks and buses [chassis]. I loved my work.At the time I had joined a local rowing club and competed as a novice through to senior in the Lightweight classification - I am not tall at 172cm and weighed around 70kg, however the heavy lifting required in my apprenticeship was excellent training for rowing! I rowed for 5 seasons before transitioning to road cycling, triathlon, and marathon running. I enjoyed a lot of success though way more losses and was really starting to peak until April 1990 when at the age of 25 I had my mid life crisis. 8:07 Good Man, using door handle to close door! I've made this a lifetime habit that extends to my daily driver. Why, people ask? Because your fingers & hands have oils, keys or a "thing" in them that can scratch surfaces or leave Mark's without consciously realizing it.

Its a mechanical and cosmetic twin to the one I seen on a Volkswagen dealerships used lot around February 1972. Imagine seeing that car new from the eyes and height of a 6 year old. I musta circled that car a dozen times soaking it all in. It was unlocked so climbed in and had a look around. Ive had a thing for 71 Charger RTs ever since thst freezing cold day. Thats the car that started my Mopar addiction.

I think 71 was the last year for the 426 HEMI too.. Love the 440 six pack 4 speed! Dang, 17 years old with that car.... I saw a 69 Charger for sale and had HEMI on the fenders... This was around 1979 when I was 16... It was not running at the time, had an auto, but it was a true HEMI.. The guy wanted $2000 for it, but since it wasn't running my Dad nixed the deal.... Bummer...

Hey to ALL of you LS folks,,,, did you notice it turned over less than a full revolution and was running as opposed to 2 or 3 seconds or more of engine spinning? My 68 Charger with 440 /4BBL Does exactly the same :) I can barely get my fingers off of the key before it fires up.

I went with my dad to Summit Dodge back in Fall '71. They had a car identical to this on the lot & '72s were out. My father showed some interest, as it was there on default of Purchase & Deposit. It was fully loaded incl. sunroof, A/C & 4 speed. I think the sticker was around $4,800? My dad didn't want 4speed, even though Dealer offered him the car for $3,500! He still walked away.. ughhhhh.
