This Dodge is of the fuselage Era design that so popular and was performed so well by Dodge. Lovely sounding engine burble, without any oil smoke! Chrysler always used that dual belt configuration for their A/C cars Wonderful smooth idle too, belying all that power hiding! Well presented. Another fine camera operation too, Lou. Thank you for giving us a great car presentation

Lou, this Charger just looks right. Just my opinion, but the '71-'74 Chargers look either fantastic or ordinary depending on trim and options. The color and lack of trim just show off the beautiful lines of this car. Very cool car Lou, you picked another winner!

But how great does this 1971 Dodge Charger R/T look with that shiny black paint! This makes all its lines stand out, especially the large divided chrome grille with double headlights and the soft bulging intake of the hood with a slight gray tone next to the letters R/T (special mention for the set of chrome rear guides and inclined in both directions to produce a curious effect!). A simple but quite adequate interior, with rounded recessed gauges and a wooden strip with the Charger R/T logo in chrome and red; plus dual-tone sports seats. That V8 engine sounded tremendous; In fact, when he hit the first acceleration, I was startled! Ha ha. As always, the final walk along those roads was very pleasant. Congratulations to Mr. Lehuede, for taking care of this extraordinary survivor; since we cannot say the same for the approximately 25 Mopars that perished in that fire! As 2023 comes to a close, I wish you a wonderful 2024, Lou, along with all your followers!

Oh, my! You had me at black, Lou! I just love black cars (and I own such). This is a beautiful car and I always loved the look of these Chargers. During this time, Chrysler had some beautiful mid-sized cars (mainly the two door ones). This is a really amazing car. Once again Lou brings us a diverse collection of vehicles that gives almost everyone a chance to love something he features! Fantastic channel! That engine sounds amazing. I love Chargers. The story of this car surviving a fire is incredible. It actually reminds me of what happened to my current car. Once I had it parked in an employee parking garage. Long story short a portion of the garage collapsed and a hole opened up approximately 15ft from where my car was parked. All other cars were evacuated from the garage except for mine and another persons car. It took almost 12hrs for them to finally free my car from the garage. They had to make sure that her weight wouldn’t cause any issues to the damaged structure that was very close by. Amazingly my car didn’t even get a scratch on it. Just a case of bad nerves and a heart attack for me.

I had a 72 Charger Ralley that was 1 of 1. It was the same as the 71 RT other than the hood didn't have the vent on it and the doors had 5 horizontal indentations instead of the 2 vertical vent slits. The Ralley replaced the RT for 72 and the 71 RT and the 72 Ralley used the same taillights and they were different from other 71-72 Chargers and are hard to find and expensive to buy when you do find them.

My sister's roommate bought a 71 Charger, and they drove it to our home to visit. I was given the keys to go gas it up. I drove it over to my friend's house on the way to the gas station. When they saw the car I drove to his house I told them it was my car and my parents bought it for me for a high school graduation present. I had his mother believing it, but my friend knew I was lying. So I confessed to the truth. The car was a metallic gray with a black interior. I don't know anymore about the car other than it was a cool looking car and I looked cool driving it.

Hello Lou! That owner has a really rare find! I've seen quite a few 1971 Chargers, but none as fantastic-looking as this! The body panels are so flawless you could see your reflection in it. The really rare black/orange interior goes well with the rest of the car. And it has the regular fixed-headlamp grille (I guess the original owner didn't want to be bothered with the complicated fold-away headlamps that most of the R/T's came with), and of course, the 440 Magnum! It's not nearly as desirable as the 426 Hemi, but it's a wonderful engine nonetheless. That's a Charger to get excited about whenever you see one. It's enough to make you shout "Hey, Charger!" like the people did in those Australian Charger commercials. But of course, those Chargers there were far different cars!

@@loucostabile I bought a new 1969 Lime Gold Mach 1, 428cj in '70. It ran to 60 in just under 6 sec. But that dog couldn't turn or stop. So, in '72, I traded it for that new AMC. That year they came out with the Buyer Protection Plan which broke the universally held 1yr/12,000mi warranty because of the higher level of quality. It was no lie! I traded it for a new '86 Mustang GT, (the first EFI). I kept that AMX 401 C.I.D. for 175+K miles. It was the most durable car I ever owned. My all time favorite however, was a 72 Lotus Europa. I'm a handling over speed kinda guy. My retirement will be another, new Miata soft top. Perfect for this guy with room for my girl and myself ONLY. No kids, no grandkids... 🤭
