the SuperHornet is an amazing design. i mean, it evolved from the A/B/C model...basically going beyond the Hi/Low doctrine...to what the Navy needed; a longer-ranged, fleet-defending, multi--role, air-superiority and fighter-attack jet... it did all of that, by being very maneuverable, losing top-speed, extending the range, increasing the pylons, improving to an AESA radar...BUT, it should've been made with one more space for as a two-seat configuration...something tells me, in the fighter-jet and attack roles...you need two people...like the F-15EX. so, even though the design is finished... it could've been better, if they'd realize the basic need for a weapons officer... as an export model, the F-18E would be good for a small island's defense - it's far more maneuverable than an F-15, and an F-16 is just faster...possibly more nimble, but can't turn as tightly. where the numbers are small, the budget is small, but the need for a high quality fighter-jet is high... because a single pilot is cheaper than two. and two engines are safer than one...
