“This has got to be the most bizarre stoppage of play in any sport. During a Sarasota Open match between Francis Tiafoe and Mitchell Krueger, you could hear the sound of people having sex. The announcer kept his cool throughout, and said it was an embarrassing situation caused by a phone randomly playing porn.
It sounds like the makings of a harsh prank, but that wasn’t the case. People were actually having sex nearby. There’s a lot to unpack here.
At some point, Francis Tiafoe knows that they’re not going to stop having sex, so why not crack a few jokes? He screams, “IT CAN’T BE THAT GOOD.” There is a 0 percent chance that the people having sex heard that. Still, the crowd attending the match seemed to like it. - Hector Diaz

This actually could come down to a highly coincidental bit of physics. Under the right conditions, if the house was next to the lake and facing the right direction and the lake was shaped the right way and the waters were calm; the audio could easily travel over the water at great distance and clarity. Once getting to the tennis court (which supposedly is next to the lake) and IF the tennis court is the right shape (along with the bleachers) the audio would then be amplified much like a speaker.

As someone who grew up next to a small artifical lake, I know that sounds can bounce off of very calm water almost as much as smooth hard surfaces like polished stone or metal. So I don't find this surprising, even though they still probably loud had to be loud enough to be heard for tens of yards (unless the house was built right over the water).

Funny story. I once had lunch in a lovely courtyard in old Europe with a friend and my young adult daughter. The place was so pleasant, and we hadn't seen each other for a long time so there was much to prattle on about, not realizing that the other clients were long gone. I was oblivious, but daughter and friend started squirming and then it came into consciousness: someone was making audible love in a room just above, window open. So we got the message and quickly left. (I think it was really a ploy by the staff to get lingerers outta there: their terrace was just too enticing and they surely encountered this problem often enough to need a radical solution...)
