Had a bigger Ramair pod filter in my A250 turbo, it gives the car a extra boost and more turbo sound, they're great.

If you look on the right hand side of your bonnet catch that small grid of plastic is where the cold feed comes from....and yes the induction kit feeds cold air through the turbo housing to spool up the turbo sends it through the intercooler to be cooled down even more then through the inlet manifold to the engine...so more air more boost but this then leads to needing better exhaust flow for gases to escape quick etc etc mines an aum engine with a uprated turbo actuator to cope with the extra boost im running 242.5bhp now 😊 xx

ive the ramair intake on my gti and it does sound really nice, just thought id buy it because when i bought the car it had a cheap cone filter on it, but hopefully soon ill be changing the ramair intake for an r32 dsg air box and cold air feed, the feed to the airbox on the r32 (dsg gearbox) is bigger than the air feed on the manual version, you can get the r32 airbox off darkside developments :) love the videos man, keep up the good work :)

Your be well pleased & incase you wasn’t sure you turn it anti clockwise until it’s all way undone, then tighten it 16clicks for stock map, 21 clicks for stage 1, although you can play around but after experimenting, imo what they said is perfect! Update. I installed it and the sound isn't that different to the standard airbox tbh. Throttle response feels a bit better and it does make a slightly louder roar when up to temp and giving it the beans but no turbo sounds so the next mod is the gfb dv+ vta

If it’s ticking it’s usually the injectors but in some cases it’s the lifters or VVT (If equipped)

Original TNB I have the petrol, so I’m not sure on results for a diesel. As far as mine goes, it’s awesome! Can hear turbo spooling up...I like turbo noises 🤣

Hey! I know this video is a couple of year old, but I would love to hear what you have to say from experience. I've heard some people say putting a Cold air intake or cone filter on the 1.8t will make it run lean unless you get a tune. I was planning on waiting a few months to get an intake so I could also get it tuned close to the same time. But after watching this video AGAIN, just hearing the turbo and DV I'm super tempted to just install one right now. Any info or advice? ALSO: Love the Corrado videos! I've been watching them in my freetime. Keep up the great content man!

Old comment but anyways for anyone else wondering this... no you car won't run lean after changing your airfilter, because it's not going to increase airflow THAT much, also the stock inletpipe is restricting the flowing.

@@JoJuPlays i say this because i can tell no 1 on here has a clue about turbos or tuning > it wont lean out because it has closed loop lambda control so the ecu is constantly correcting the fuel mixture , also your not increasing boost pressure so no more air is going into your engine than before , also this does nothing for power just makes it sound better , lastly a panel filter is better with original air box reinstalled is better performance wise , this will just suck warm air when in slow moving traffick and these engines already suffer with heat-soak as standard , the best mod for this car to benefit from a remap is a front mount intercooler and water meth injection

Cold air is better...hence why FI cars have Intercoolers, to cool the charged air It's not like a cone filter massively changes the air temperature anyway, especially with a heat shield and a cold air feed.

It's all apart of the package like this a exhaust or just decat for diesels and a tune you can make some pretty nice gains. For my 1.9 gt tdi you can go from 150bhp/326 nm of torque to a possible 186bhp+/380nm+

Anytime you mess with the intake, do air temperature mods, or change how the air is restricted; you should tune your cars ECU and MAF to the new hardware.

Vws gtis use Bosch me5 and me7 ecus that are very intelligent. Simply resetting it and letting it relearn is all that's needed for a mod like this.

Generally the maf is meant to be aware of the amount of air flow. So it’ll pick up the increased flow and will tell the ecu to up the fuel. But generally only in newer cars

It is, depending on year they 98 99 years came with k03 turbo 150bhp standard which remap to 200bhp, and 2000 to 2003 years came with k03S turbo 150bhp standard which remap to 210 bhp, the only exemption is the aniversary golf which used the k03S had 180 bhp standard and they too remap to 210 bhp. The seat leon mk1 uses the same engine but the cupra R uses the bam engine from the audi tt with k04 turbo 225bhp standard remaps to 260 bhp. A few more bhp can be gained by performance air filter + 5bhp, oversized silicon turbo intake pipe + 6 to 12 bhp and exhaust + 5 bhp. They are fun cars the turbos, i've used a 25mm dual piston dump valve on them without adverse effects, no engine lights etc on both agu and aum engines.

Maybe I'm missing the point... Alot of people talk about you losing power in a turbo car because the filter is sucking in hot air from under the hood.. In stock form with a cold air feed, when the cool air passes the turbo it becomes hot under pressure before it passes through the intercooler to cool it??? It would be interesting to know the difference in temperature between a stock induction with cold air feed, and the temperature of a Ram air induction with no cold feed, after it passes the turbo... If the engine was N/A, I could see the need for having a cold air feed as the air would be thrusted straight into the throttle body....

That's not even close to ram air induction. Your stock intake is more a ram air and makes more power than that hot air intake

Because Trolling is so easy. What a waste, nice vid tho. If this was a Naturally Aspirated or even a Supercharged engine, the benefits of running a CAI would easily be a measurable 10-15 Hp, sadly that's not the case on a VW 1.8t. The positive is you'll get increased throttle response from your Turbo spooling quicker which the glee in your voice confirmed, however, the most you'll gain is a whopping 1-3 Hp, sorry. Anyone says otherwise doesn't comprehend how the turbo heats up all that nice cool air and that's why the car has an INTERCOOLER, like so that's why that's there. One of the many 1.8t bottlenecks are the anemic Turbo Inlet Pipe and the pathetic Downpipe, you want performance start there.

You dont get performance with a ram filter. You can lose power because its sucking all the warm air from the engine. It just sounds much better but it doesnt increase performance. Anyway enjoy your filter man! I also have a mk4 GTI 1.8T! I will think about putting a Ramair filter the next time I have to change it.

+xX-GARCÍA-Xx It definitely helps when it comes to mapping, cone filters like ramair and k&n breathe easier so more fuel gets burnt so more power, the heatsheild being there helps with the heat from engine and the stock cold feed also helps. Obviously a proper cold air induction kit from the bottom of the bay would be best but living in England where it's wet almost every day wouldn't be good 😂 these are decent enough 👍 Thanks man!

It doesn’t improve performance on a car with a stock map on the ecu. But if you will map your car it will let you reach higher numbers of horsepower and torque.
