LOUDER 15” SUB or 2 12" SUBS?

Nice. This was so many builds ago. Ive had several set ups including the u18 in that same box. Had 2 u 12s doing 50 from 28-35hz. Got 2 u 15s now doing 50 at 36hz. Bout to do a 6th with the u 15s and put a 5k on each. Should get spicy. And electrical is so different now. I get worried when i see 15.1v now. World of difference. I have almost the same setup. Same radio and box design but I'm running the hated 15" rockville k9 v2 with a taramps 3 boss on stock electrical in a newer lancer. IT POUNDS!!😊 shakes the car apart and hurts the kidneys.... he should put driver side backseat up

I have ran many style setups and my dailys are single 15s or single 12s but its fun to experiment with it all. Nice trunk build!

I have two 10 inch skar audio subs that are 200 watt rms and have a maximum wattage handling of 400 watts in my 1999 chevy s10 pickup and they hit really nice in the small space. I eventually want to upgrade too two 12 in subs maybe in the 800-1200 watt range.

I heard a guys system from half a block away in the grocery store parking lot. He was in a 98 mirage and said he only had one Skar 10 😮. I didn't ask which one but I'm assuming it's one of their bass packages. Sounded really good and the sound travelled far. Didn't know one 10 could get down like that

4 agm batteries?? How would you drop voltage?? I have a single Interstate MTZ 34 on a stock alt doing 2500 rms to a single zv6 and I don’t drop below 13.9

His stock alt may be smaller than yours or his vehicle may draw more power from his alt than yours even tho yallcould have the same size alt. Either way if his alt can't provide the amount of power that his subs pull then adding batteries will only extend the amount of time he can bump before voltage drops. The alternator is your only power source, the batteries just hold that power till the subs use it. So if the power in is less than power used, adding batteries only increases storage

If you don't drop voltage then I wonder, do you drive around and bump or do you just sit in idle and give demos? Your rpms will directly influence the power your alternator creates for your system

Are you guessing 2500 or have you clamped 2500 rms? I have a 320 alt with 40ah ying long lto and bc6k on a single fi neo 15 and I drop all the way down to 13 v , I use to drop to 11.9 v with 250 ah of agm batteries

That 2500 watts is probley closer to 1500 watts after box rise which is not much power . Which is most likely why ur not droping alot of voltage.

I would always suggest aiming for around 140-160% RMS Power amp from rated sub so you can keep the power clean and work with ohm change/rise. Goodluck

I moved more onto quality. I'd rather 1 12" and 2 10" or 8". To each there own but I enjoy having what seems like some quicker punch on top of a 12"

2 12’s should outperform a single 15 if they are both in equally tuned boxes and have the same components in their build. 288 square inches of surface area beats 225 in an open area like a cargo van or concert.

Smaller subs are normally punchier, while larger subs are 'softer' (if that makes sense)

If a box is specifically built & tuned 4 2 12's those 12's gonna hit incredibly hard. Gotta have the electrical (ALTERNATOR, LITHIUM, big 3 & zero gage wire) & you will be surprised. I have both in 2 different vehicles 12's & 15's & the 12's hang wit the 15's even tho the 15's pushing more amps.

Good start plus I like that you are experimenting on what works for your budget and vehicle. The new more powerful alternator should make a difference and you should be able to lose some of those batteries. 👍

This was me like 6 months in, 2 years and some change ago now. I have a 45ah cmax now and stay in the mid to high 15s. So mamy experiments ive done. Time to get out the trunk though

@@alexandrerafaelpascoalalme606 its decent when it comes to size and it can play lows better than a 12 can but alot of 12s can fit under the seat so if you want something small that hits go with a 12 if you want something loud go with 2 10's or 8's but my one 12 hits as hard as my buddys two 8s so. but yea if you got the room and money a 15 hits deeper than a 12. look at it as a 12 is a bassy musical yk ?

He has too much going on. All them extra batteries and everything else. With the stock alternator you're putting so much strain on it, you're probably losing power. You better off with just zero gauge wire one battery in the trunk, and that's it, unless you're an upgrade.Alternator

I beg 2 differ, if the 2 12's are Quality subs with the right built box & electrical 2 support it. It's all about the box & the power. GOD forbid it's 2 good 12's they will stand up 2 a single 15 all day

@@1tuffzx10 i beg to differ look at jacobs single 18 now that build will take out 2 quality subs all day but its in the box build i got a 15 in a groundpounder ported at the back end that will take out 2 12s all day i actually have 8 15s in same groundpounder boxes that will tap you out actually i can do it with 4 the other 4 are for punishment ive done it with 2 not the chest pinch but ear wop pressure but 4 for chest pinch im talking cerwin vegas buddy i also got 6 12s cerwin vegas 12s have nothing on 15s dont know why there really not that much bigger but 15s have a certain hit to em now my 18s now were talking chest ripping see i test and use to work for mgm building competition groundpounders MGM won lots of comps with my desighns expecially in dual cutthrews on square body single cabs but to me the Phoenix gold 12s bro those were beasts
