I want them to make the Bengal available, imagine a crew of hundreds of people or even a thousand, like a whole faction and the ship is never empty no matter at what time you connect you'll find crewmates. This would be the best gaming experience ever.

@@Rob_Moilanen your ship should be persistent through all servers, and if someone targets you, they join your instance and vice versa. So players don't exist in all instances but ships do and instances should be fluid. I was playing yesterday and I got bugged, so I backed to menu to get back my ship but because I logged onto a different instance I couldn't get my ship. I was able to sell some of the cargo to recoup some of my money at the mining facility but I wasn't able to take the ship back to New Babbage or store it and load it back onto the pad. I would have to do an insurance claim which wipes the inv of your ship.

@@unadultratedtrini you do realise what ships are account bound? And which ones are persistence bound? Especially with LTI ? It means, if you some how where to gank my Idris or Javelin, you do realise my LTI token says I may never "lose it"? Thats why the Bengals or other capitals will never be "owned"?
@unadultratedtrini2 жыл бұрын
@@Rob_Moilanen I get that but as an object that exists in the ptu, once your ship is an object in game it should exist for every other person. Regardless of instance. So the way Cloud Imp does their game is you have the universe existing on servers, players and ships exist within instances on those servers. Actions that you perform on one instance have consequences to all players on that server. So all other instances will see the effects. A great way to understand this is hauling. If someone is hauling on the server, they may not be on your instance but they will be able to buy up all the lannite on a particular outpost. If you are not on their instance when you go to that outpost you will realize that there is no more of that resource for you to buy for your trade.

@Rob_Moilanen2 жыл бұрын
@@resoundingecho I'm abit torn with you here. CIG has never said anything about player building stations, cause "no two" stations are alike. That said, I can forsee a "gang" pioneers completing "some" station types that take several weeks (or months) to build. Remember you don't want these things crapping out stations everywhere in the verse!
@resoundingecho2 жыл бұрын
@@Rob_Moilanen I agree with you that players should not (or at the very least not easily) be able to build space stations. At the time I commented, I was thinking more along the lines of completing the production chain and giving explanation to why stations occasionally pop up every once in awhile. Whether it is a ship that only exists in limited quantities (and at a sky high price), is exclusive to the UEE, or only exists in lore (e.g. acting behind the scenes and out of sight), it is something I would expect to exist simply to justify the formation of space stations.
@Rob_Moilanen2 жыл бұрын
@@resoundingecho there is lore behind most of this, remember we are inhabiting a game that has existed, in lore, for centuries into our future lives. And many of the stations has existed for centuries as well, some of them have been abandoned for various reasons and have been taken over by various factions including player's/groups. Please don't forget that CIG does intend for players to be "able" to own stations, but we're not even close to the "tech" to be "able" to build them. Though I do suppose that pioneer ships could do it "theoretically", it may be that CIG doesn't want them to or at the very least not be able to, for now! Cause remember the game is still very much an alpha and we're not even close to the feature complete beta yet much less a full blown "release"!

Anvil already has a lot of things that can be used during ground assault, like the Atlas line, the Valk, the Liberator etc. What I'd love to see is that Anvil puts a crown on that style and making Anvil and Aegis more different in the sense that Aegis is more space based and aggressive and Anvil is more defensive and ground based to show that this new main military is there to protect the people and planets of the UEE. So I'd love to see a planetary assault carrier. This ship features a large cannon array that can be used from orbit to blast positions on the ground. It has capability for Valks to land on it, room for lots of troops and cargo and can land to bring the armored first of Spartans, Ballistas and Centurions to bear with along with Novas. And the crowning feature: Drop pods than can launch cargo drops or infamtry (including Titan suits) to the ground below it, sending the force inside to a location previously bombarded, landing and directly deploying. Meanwhile Valks make their way down and when the landing zone's secured the carrier itself comes down and acts as an HQ for the operation. Now this is pure insanity and just really just a fun idea for me. It isn't realistic for the game at all and would probably never show it's face. Still though, if there is an Anvil capital ship some day I'd love to see a lot of manufacturer synergy (Valk needs and update to carry an Atlas vic btw) and the stuff I mentioned before about Anvil's identity much more being that of a shield

And after a certain time the org decides to move to another solar system and the economic changes a lot because of that mining city. Polaris is a great ship for the versatility. It can serve as a ship for big fleets in naval battles, using the relatively high speed and huge torpedoes, to perform glass cannon hit and run tactics. But also it can be operated with a bare minimum skeleton crew, to serve as the mobile HQ and flagship of a small group of raiders/looters/explorers/mercenaries/bounty hunters. It has a high level medical bed, lots of room to store loot, cargo, trading goods, vehicles, etc. It even has a hangar for a smaller utility ship of choice. It has enough durability to be rather invulnerable to small threats like fighters. It has turrets to defend itself. It has huge torpedoes for taking down other large ships, and also for using as cruise missiles against ground targets. For a group of friends who just want to explore and complete multiple sorts of hustles for fun, the Polaris enables you to do so much.

For combat, the game is missing a dedicated dreadnaught/battleship/battlecruiser. The Javelin is a destroyer, the Idris and Bengal are both carriers. Granted, the Bengal is sort of multirole with the huge bottom turret. But I'd still argue we don't have a proper dreadnaught/battleship/battlecruiser concept. Some ship that's the size of the Bengal, with even more focus on just armor and guns. Like you know the bottom turret of Bengal? Slap on two turrets of that size on the bottom and two on the top. Fill the sides with turrets that have 4xS7 guns, and sprinkle in a few dozen point defense automatic gatling and missile turrets. I want to see the barrage of firepower from all 4 guns doing a naval dreadnaught bombardment, while the huge amount of S7 guns just rain down constant sprays of rounds. It would be glorious, if only as an endgame PvE combat challenge for huge orgs, or for random players to take part in as a dynamic event.

I grew up watching Star Wars, Return of the Jedi over and over, and playing X-Wing, but also branching into Eve for a bit. Also loved Star Trek and Babylon 5. I've ALWAYS loved capital ships and capital ship combat. I was so interested in that sort of thing, I ended up joining the Navy and doing my 8 years. Granted, "capital ship" (as the "high value unit") is a bit different than we use it in sci-fi (which is more "larger (war?)ships" than fighter or small crew ship), but it's understandable enough to be hand-wavey sensical. :) So like you, I like thinking about fleet combat with capital ships. Needless to say, I'm all for this, though I'd probably include things that aren't exactly being called "capital ships" yet. For example, I have a Starfarer, which will probably be my "capital ship" and my support role in my org as the (or one of the, hopefully) tankers for the fleet. REALLY hoping for a bit of a redesign at some point and a bigger door to make landing a few things in easier (would be nice to reliably be able to fit a racer in it and use the Starfarer like irl race teams use 18-wheelers to transport their racecars and support equipment, tools, and parts in)...not to mention the thing is built like an FPS level, not quite like a ship...but I still love it..
@SubduedRadical2 жыл бұрын
Oops, should be here: Fleet doctrine/disposition/battlespace of the UEE (more or less): I would expect the standard UEE combat doctrine would be to use Hammerheads and to an extent Perseus (Persei? Omicron Persei 8?) as anti-fighter picket ships on the lead edge of the fleet engaging with the enemy, with some Perseuses also being organized into small wolfpack flight groups of 3-5 ships each, along with Polaris wolfpack flight groups of 3-5 ships that conduct strikes against larger capital ships. Idrises would be general fire support against enemy anti-capital ships as an escort/Destroyer Escort role, while Javelins would be main line direct combat cruisers/destroyers with their powerful cannons. Then you have your big units that the Javelins would mostly be tasked with escorting and protecting, high value units (HVUs), which would be Pegasus Carriers and Bengal Heavy Carriers. If you have ships like Starfarers for refueling, you're probably going to want to keep them by your big HVUs so they can benefit from that umbrella of protection and also be close at hand if your larger capital ships need some additional fuel - most likely the Bengal and Pegasus are chiefly going to be refueling those big bombers of yours, so you want top offs for fuel stores to be close to hand so you can keep sending wave after wave of bombers out after the Vanduul capital ships. You'd probably have Liberators closer to the main combat front (a bit behind the Hammerheads) for your fighters to use to get quick "hot" refuel and rearmament if they need a top up that doesn't require limping back to your main Carriers for more extensive rearm/repair - your big carriers probably would rather deal with rearming your heavy bombers for their attack runs instead. Though it's rare they'd be employed by the UEE, in theory Krakens could be HVUs of smaller detachments or strike groups, or could be LARGE militia headquarters ships that would travel with your Carrier/Supercarrier HVUs to provide additional support and militia reserves for the fight. Obviously, militia Liberators could fit in here as well. And you might also use some militia Idrises as a reargard to cover your flank or as additional fighter refueling stations if you trust them to do so competently. Note you would NEVER have your entire rearguard as militia units, as you do need to ensure at least some of your eyes watching your rear are trusted and competent to sound the alarm if the enemy attempts to outflank you and/or cut off your retreat or supply lines. For militia units, you ideally want them to be ones that DON'T need to operate in close coordination with your military ones. This way, they can be folded into the fleet but not in a place you would need them to be highly trained with the fleet operating structure and command structure of the military, or with military precision and professionalism levels. Having a militia Hammerhead you order to "Go take station with these other UEE Hammerheads and shoot down badguy fighters that come in" works since that's a good deal of autonomy, while having them as part of your Polaris wolfpack flight group requires them to coordinate a lot more with the other members of their flight group and be both obedient and responsive to orders. In the Hammerhead case, they just need to know a general spot to be and can individually pick targets (incoming fighters) to shoot at instead of needing to be ordered to focus specific targets or move in a high stress, quick response time required, coordinated way. In other words, realize that civilian/Citizen militia units will have a lack of training and discipline, and so place them in areas where they can work somewhat freely while still being useful, but aren't relied on to be too locked in and on point. If they're extra competent, then great, but you're preventing a failure by relying on them too heavily in the cases they AREN'T. Ideally, militia units filling roles where they have some autonomy, can act semi-independently, and can't muck things up too terribly if they screw up is where you'd want them, so you ideally want them in ships that serve those purposes in the fleet. This would largely be Hammerheads, to an extent Perseuses, reserve Liberators, flank or rear-guard picket ships (Hammerhead, Perseus, Idris-civilians, Liberators, or possibly Krakens), or additional fuel storage parked by your Bengal/Peguses (Starfarers and similar support ships, Liberators go here as well) . If the Hammerhead had a small fighter bay or landing platform for 2-4 fighters, it'd be the perfect militia ship, but as it is, the Hammerhead and Liberator are two sides of the militia coin, with the Liberator having more multi-purpose both when it's drafted into a UEE defense fleet AND when it's operating independently as a normal defense militia in a system during "peacetime" against pirates and other rabble. Perhaps I'm giving it too much credit, and it indeed hasn't been finalized, but it just seems a really sensible option in both a gameplay/org sense and a lore/UEE system security vs pirates + conscript system defense in case of Vanduul invasion sense. . Overall, this makes the Liberator an excellent ship for the UEE to want to outfit local militias with, since it works extremely well against most threats a militia would be called on to face while also having several places it could be absorbed into a UEE fleet operation in case the system is being invaded by the Vanduul or some other system-level threat. ...did I mention I like thinking about fleet combat with capital ships. : )

Loved the video Loud. On the topic of capital ship roles not represented in the game currently, or even hinted at, I'm surprised there's no mention of capital class exploration ships. Flying exploratory cities tasked with exploring and mapping the furthest edges of space - ideal for those who want to live out their Star Trek Voyager / TNG fantasies within SC.

Cheers Martin - yeah I was chatting with another chap about this sort of thing. Like an Ark ship for long distance exploration and potentially colonisation. I reckon it’d be really cool if you had a ship that was relatively compact, but when you landed could unfold into a ready made base with bio domes, workshops, hangars etc

Really enjoyed the video. I currently have pledged for a liberator and have been eyeing the Kraken. The idea that Anvil is coming out with a capitol ship makes me think I’ll keep the Liberator for now and hold off on the kraken. The Polaris is the only other Capitol ish ship I’ve been looking into. I really like the idea of bringing support to all types of missions: combat, cargo, mining, search & rescue, even medical. In the end I do want a ship with high combat capability but that doesn’t require a massive org to handle (ie the Polaris). Can’t wait to see what SC has in store for the next capitol ship!

Thanks mate! Yeah I take very much a wait and see approach to SC these days - I pickup good value WB CCU’s but then I’ll just see where the chips fall when things are further developed than they are now before committing to much.

13:00 Never in a billions of years would I thought a game like Star Citizen would offer gameplay of "spaceship gardening" 😜 Is that Chris Robert's idea for Space Gardening? Lol 😂😆 Is nobody going to talk about Space Gardening is a viable gameplay in a shooting exploration space Simulator game like Star Citizen? Imagine a Death Star (Planet Destroyer) from Star Wars in Star Citizen would be insane.

@airallieman2 жыл бұрын
Spot on with the gaps in available ships. Right now I think the Perseus is going to dominate as the primary ship of the line, bringing the best damage to crew size ratio. They need to add in something 50-75% larger with capital shields and 2-3 additional duel size 7 turrets and additional point defense weapons. For light carriers something that could carry 6 bombers or 12 light fighters would be ideal, in my mind something that would be in the rear of a formation that could deploy additional landing pads for repair/refuel/rearm by drones.

Nice video, but I would add a few points regarding the gaps and speculations. First, we do know the carrier ship that fills the gap between Liberator, Idris, Javelin and the Bengal: it's the Pegasus escort carrier, with reportedly carrying 16 Hornets and 16 Gladiators. We also have a couple of images that were part of the massive leaks 7-8 years ago. I know you didn't want to dedicate too much time to ships where we have only a couple of tidbits of info, but some of them would have been worth mentioning, like the Pegasus. Second point: it seems you did not check the stretch goals when preparing this video, we know of several capital ships that will be in the game. Whether they will be purchasable is another matter, they might end up using the Bengal approach. We know that there will be a "playable ship class, the cruiser" (4.5m stretch goal) and a "flyable ship class, the battlecruiser" (17m stretch goal). Third point: totally agree regarding the Anvil capital, it is clearly missing in Anvil's lineup. In terms of size, I would see it anywhere between the Polaris and Javelin, perhaps in the 200m-300m range. Fourth point: again, totally agree on Starfarer, its design is clearly very dated and insufficient for the large ships. Back when it was revealed, the average SC ship size was probably closer to ~70-90m and Starfarer fit it reasonably well. Back then even Idris was way smaller than it is now. Since then, you would probably need several Starfarers to refuel some of the largest ships, so another refueling ship in the 200m+ category might make sense.

S12 torps and guns were basically designed / developed to fight against the Vanduul Kingships and Drillers and such, as I understand it. 2800M long for the Kingship, compared to like 2300 for the UEE Retribution. We may only see the Retribution in the latter chapters of SQ42 (as in, the latter sequels, basically.) I *gaurantee* we'll eventually see Vanduul capship events in SC MMO persistent universe.
@FunkThompson2 жыл бұрын
As for missing stuff: Um, Cruisers, entirely? Jav is a Destroyer. Bengal is a Carrier / Battleship hybrid, in fairly typical Sci-Fi fashion. So, Cruisers. Bigger than Jav, smaller than Bengal, mostly focused on firepower and resilience. Maybe a hangar bay for 2-4 medium fighters, tops. Spinal mount S12 guns, or like quad S10 or so.

well there is the Pegasus support carrier for the UEE. i agree on something like the size of the kraken but not flimsy. and like a brawler anvil corvette. i would love for them to implement the anvil corvette as a civilian, and a full fledged milspec one where we as players can't have the OP version. we already have a small hammerhead gunboat/anti-fighter/area-denial.... the anvil would be perfect for anti flanking and counter flanking but also be able to mess up and hold up bombers, heavy fighters etc that is trying to mess up support ships in a fleet.

One thing you saying about the medical base and a capital ships is that their class a medical just as good as in the hospitals where you get injured and stuff they can end up going to there you're fully healed no matter what the injury he was or if you even died that's what makes those ships so good plus all the weapons you can have and all the armor it carries.

Fleet doctrine/disposition/battlespace of the UEE (more or less): I would expect the standard UEE combat doctrine would be to use Hammerheads and to an extent Perseus (Persei? Omicron Persei 8?) as anti-fighter picket ships on the lead edge of the fleet engaging with the enemy, with some Perseuses also being organized into small wolfpack flight groups of 3-5 ships each, along with Polaris wolfpack flight groups of 3-5 ships that conduct strikes against larger capital ships. Idrises would be general fire support against enemy anti-capital ships as an escort/Destroyer Escort role, while Javelins would be main line direct combat cruisers/destroyers with their powerful cannons.
