I witnessed the Ace car chase in '82. I was working the night shift at the ONLY gas station on the Bronx River Parkway at that time. Ace was driving the North on the Southbound side of the parkway - he could have killed someone.

I heard Kiss Alive 2 at 13 years old in 1978 and that got me into a lifelong fan of the ORIGINAL, and only group members I'll ever acknowledge as being Kiss, admiration of Ace, Peter, Gene, and Paul. Saw them 4 or5 times with that lineup, have no desire whatsoever to pay and see anyone else calling themselves Kiss. Nor have I bought any album of other lineups. Space Ace is the shit, good sense of humor, good guitarist, great showman. I put Trouble Walking on every new phone etc. I buy one of the first songs. Because like the much more popular and talented gentleman being interviewed here, I too am "Trouble Walking." Thanks for all the great songs and entertainment throughout the years Ace, and to future ones coming.

I love how incredulous the interviewer looks when Ace mentions that he was driving a DeLorean, haha! That was pretty much my reaction as well the first time I read about the infamous car chase. A DeLorean? Really?? Only Ace, lol. Woah, never heard that Anton was actually green lighted as a KISS member for one day! Even Anton doesn't seem to remember that, haha, he has said that he didn't want the gig because he was in another band at the time and wanted to break with them (Spider) I've also read him say that Paul and Gene never even considered him because he was too close with Ace... Who knows the truth, really!

The only reason he "outran" them is because cops aren't stupid and won't persist in a high speed chase when there is a potential for hurting innocent people. I still don't get why people keep saying that Ace is a "has been", or a talentless douchebag or whatever. Whether you like it or not, Ace Frehley did a lot for the rock n roll world, and that's a fucking fact. And about the "talentless" stuff that I keep hearing everywhere I go that is Ace's related, there's an other fact : you can master all the techniques, the licks, knowing your fretboard as much as you know your dick, if you don't put any heart, soul, and fucking groove, playing your instrument is partially useless. I’m not saying what he did was safe and right but just his honesty about it and the humor he puts into it makes him more than just a good guitarist and a funny guy. Not shocking that his fact or fiction is multiple parts, this man loves to talk. I'm so salty to this day that I misses an opportunity to cook for and meet him. He played in the town that I worked in (i cooked in a restuarant in a casino/hotel) and stayed at the hotel. The night before the show he came in for dinner and it was my one day off for the weeek, my chef and I are both huge KISS fans and proud members of the KISS Army. Chef had a panic attack knowing he was cooking for Ace and didn't think of calling me. Ace was nice enough to meet any of the staff who wanted to meet him and he gave backstage passes and tickets to anyone who wanted to go to the show. I was so depressed as a KISS fan and guitarist that I missed the opportunity to meet one of my biggest heroes and living gods.

In the early '80s when the Guitar became an Olympic Event thanks mostly in part to Eddie Van Halen, all the Rock Bands had to have virtuoso's. Ace's style was out moded and Vinnie Vincent was a ridiculously talented modern Guitarist. Vinnie made contribution's to "Creatures of The Night" while simultaneously Ace needed out. Creatures, Destroyer,HTH & Dynasty are my favorite and as difficult as they said Vinnie was to be around, he was the difference on Creatures.

I wish you guys would be quiet about the interviewer, Gruhamed, I think he is doing a great job. He asks the question then shuts up and let's the interviewee talk! I've watched a lot of interviews where the interviewer just drones on and on and keeps interrupting the other person. Man Ace has some stories lol. I have read all the books by the members and found Ace's book and Paul's book to be the best. Gene's is just stupid and Peter's is aggravating. In fact after reading Peter's book I came away not liking him very much and at one time he was my favorite member and is why I play drums to this day.

I played opening for some pretty well known punk bands, who'd been around for a while, by my time. Word was, in their lean years, at least, KISS were surprisingly down to earth. It always disappointed me when one of my heroes turned out to be a prima donna. I always heard these guys were just small town guys with a gimmick, who made good. They paved the way for soooo many.

Well did you know Anton played on Unmasked 1980 LP & he also is on Frehleys Comet Tape from 1987. if you or anyone wants to hear the stories many are in Aces Book NO Regrets. I have & Read it. I recommend it.

Yeah, I know Anton's history with Ace and KISS. He also played on Ace's 1978 solo album , Dynasty, Live + 1, Trouble Walking and Anomaly. I was just surprised to hear he was actually KISS' drummer for a single day. That's a story Ace left out of No Regrets and I've never heard him speak of it before. I think it's cool Ace is telling stories no one has ever heard before publicly. I hope he continues to do so.

I don't think it's about Peter not being "smart enough" not to lease his make-up versus keeping and leasing it. He had to decide whether Kiss, with Eric and Tommy in his and Ace's make-up, would be able to fill arenas. Peter could either sell it outright for a large lump sum, or lease it hoping that Kiss would have continued success. Peter chose to sell, Ace chose to lease. It'd be interesting to know what each of them has reaped, to date, from their respective decisions. Also, I'll bet that Ace's decision to lease, rather than sell, had more to do with pride (in the good way) than with money.

Who knows if he still owns it...He admitted in this interview that he's lazy, which could mean he was too lazy to spend the time reading the terms of his buyout. Gene has stated that they own it, and Ace THINKS it's still his, but if it makes him happy to think he still owns it, it's not a big deal. It's like with the "KISS My Ass" tribute album--they changed Ace's makeup, and altered the photos of tattoos of his face (actually, they missed one), just to avoid any arguments.
