I just recently started listening to these guys, and the DT influence was immediately apparent, and strongly, to where if someone had told me it was new DT, I wouldn't of questioned it until I realized the keys weren't so intrusive.

You can tell the measure of a musician, by how they speak about other musicians. Richard giving praise to everyone from Hendrix to Skynyrd shows he's a real student to his craft. Haken-Virus is a testament to how creative and proficient these boys are. Hands down the best album of the year so far, and the one to beat. They do a killer live show as well.

If you like any of the artists that Rich is (very cleanly) emulating here, go listen to Haken. My favorite thing about them (and Richard's playing) is their ability to tap into all of these influences to create something truly fresh. One of my favorites for sure!

I had the same path to prog metal. I used to listen a lot of hard rock back then Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd and Jimi hendrix was my favorite musician. Then I start to listen more Metallica, Iron Maiden and Nirvana Alice in Chains. Mid nineties a friend of mine told me you have to listen this band. And they were Dream Theater.

The wall was incredible live in the day,Jimi Hendrix was next level,Growing up listening to our parents music & learning music from visuals not reading was how it starts.The 70s,80s,90s & early 2000’s were legendary for Music.And Justice for all & dyers eve is legendary.The good dark days of Metallica.
