First 2 videos when he was 18 is when I met him in San Antonio, TX in 1985. I was 19 and went to a rock club, can't remember the name, and Pantera was playing. They weren't too known yet. They had a white sheet as a backdrop with Pantera painted on it. It was Diamond Darrell (what he was known as back then), Rex Rocker, Vinnie Paul, and a singer named Terry. I have pictures somewhere and a real close up of Diamond Darrell with all that hair and blue eyes. He was so cute. He gave me a bunch of hot pink guitar picks that had Diamond Darrell on them. I remember some girlfriends and I went back to the band's motel room to party. And you can figure out the rest lol. Let's just say I have a few unforgettable moments about Dimebag Darrell 😊

@guitar199719 жыл бұрын
+Shotgun Zombie The fact that he influenced an entire generation of heavy metal guitarist would be one. That even in today's world where everyone and their grandma can shred like crazy he's still regarded as one of the best to have ever lived would be another. The dude was a truly mind-blowingly good player. While Pantera is known as a very wild, heavy band, Dime's solos have a very unique finesse to them. They sound very wild and untamed but they're actually really well thought out with each and every note carefully selected and placed. And in my opinion that's what made him so great: he was an incredibly tight and controlled player but you'd have to be crazy to call him robotic or soulless.

3:07 from this interview the thing that I remember the most is when he said that it's an honor to play at the same stage with Ozzy Osbourne and his hope he will still play at same level when he get his age. It was the truest pain to hear that words when you know he was murdered so young and he never reach that dream

My birthdate is the worst. I only just realised John Lennon, AND juice world died on my birthday December 8th. But dimebag died in my EXACT birthday. December 8th 2004.

@@xymoriintus and nobody gives half a frog fuck that you think Christians are brainwashed. Dude can say whatever the fuck he wants and dickhead pieces of pigeon shit like you gotta talk your shit behind a screen. Just like OP, you can say whatever the fuck you want too but maybe say something that doesn't belittle a fucking stranger for no goddamn reason. I'm not a Christian. In fact I've had far more confrontations with theists than I have with atheists or agnostics but in no way does that give me the right to demonize an entire collective of people. I really couldn't care any less that this thread ended years ago. I'm willing to bet you're still the same bitch you were then. Grow the fuck up.

lol love the Dimebag and Christian group clip. I met Dimebag after the concert during the Cowboys tour, he tried inviting me to a party after the concert but I was 17 at the time and told him I was too young- later on I regretted that. He was a fun and super nice guy to chat with.

What an absolute legend! I love his sense of humor, his attitude towards life, his personality and well...his playing (obviously!), but that should really go without saying. I hope he and Vinnie can finally reunite peacefully now that they are together again.

That Domination solo and proceeding riff is some top tier Dimebag right there, makes me wish I was in the pit again, so happy I saw Pantera live. It's too sad he was taken from the world.

Domination at Monsters of Rock is the most metal moment in human history. When he comes out of the solo and the whole band drops back into that chest slamming chug to a crowd of half a million screaming fans. Fuck man...I still get goosebumps every single time I watch it, and I've seen it at least 500 times.
