***** more unfounded bullshit. likely his first encounter with any substance was with....wait for it.....caffeine...the world's most commonly used psychoactive and addictive drug. if you smoke cigarettes, drink wine occasionally and drink a coffee a day...then you take more drugs than i do and they are far harsher than anything i take. your 'reefer madness' bullshit doesnt fool anybody. i live in a state where medical marijuana (which im a patient) has been legal for years even for children....and now, recreational marijuana is legal. what were the results of legalizing marijuana in my state? good question (which is likely why it didnt cross your mind to ask)... ..the answer....in Washington state, after one year of legalization, studies have found: *Major Fiscal Benefits, Decrease in Violent Crime, No Increase in Youth Marijuana Use or Traffic Fatalities - And Massive Drop in Marijuana Arrests* (source - www.drugpolicy.org/news/2015/07/marijuana-legalization-washington-state-one-year-status-report ) imagine that. when marijuana is legalized recreationally, the world not only doesnt fall apart but it works a bit better. again, nobody buys your bullshit nor do they buy your emotionally driven arguments. all of your arguments are all founded in ignorance and it's painfully obvious.

+Raukawahine77 How do you know it wasn't alcohol he tried first? Or pills from his parents medicine cabinet? Lots of people do those before they ever smoke pot. I've seen far more people try hard drugs like coke,meth, and opiates for the first time after heavy drinking then after they smoked pot. I know plenty of pot smokers who have never touched anything else. I know plenty of people who've done coke or gotten into popping pills who never smoked weed. The "gateway drug" argument has no weight. The same type of argument makes a far more compelling case for alcohol or even more so caffeine being the actual gateway drug.

I'm a fan of STP from day 1, bought Core when it was first released, even before I heard the jokes people had about it. The 2 biggest bands in the world at the time were Nirvana & Pearl Jam, and SNL made fun, specifically David Spade made fun of STP saying it sounded like Pearl Jam, I can vaguely hear Eddie Vedder's inspiration in Plush's chorus but every single other STP song sounds nothing like Pearl Jam. People wrote them off because Plush was their first big single. I bought every STP album until the end and despite what losers say and think, STP is one of the great rock bands of the 90s, up there with Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins.
@NoGasProductions7 жыл бұрын
I think it takes a vocal genius to sound like both Kurt Cobain AND Eddie Vedder on the same album. People can say what they want about Core, but it was a more solid album than Nevermind and Ten (yes, I said it lol) and if anything, it was really smart and really talented to be able to match the sound of the two biggest bands at the time.

First of all, both bands were totally on their game and it was a wonderful show. Secondly, it's cool to hear here that Mustaine helped them with their setlist because I remember one thing in particular here that he references...STP opens the show with Crackerman (one of my fave STP songs) and Weiland is using the bullhorn. Me and my friends are watching this thinking "WTF...I dunno...I just know I dig it." The fact that Mustaine started waving the flag for them and helping them at a time when MTV and so many critics were dogging them...it just speaks volumes.

Leave it to Dave Mustaine to really lay it out out there. Keeping it real and making a few profound comments on Scott Wieland's addiction and the record / management money machine that kept him out there touring and performing when clearly should've been forced to complete a lengthy drug rehab program. "No song, no amount of money is worth a human life" Also "As much as the onus is on Scott there are other people that are responsible for that." The handlers (AKA the management company) knew what Scott was like and kept him going to keep the revenue rolling in despite his condition. Yes Scott is also responsible for himself BUT if you are an addict and you have a team of people keeping you performing and on the road (which keeps you accessible to drugs) you will NEVER get clean or stop. That's pretty much what happened in the case of Scott Weiland. Good stuff. Truth.

It's cuz the STP guys came from a hard rock background, not punk rock like most of the early underground grunge brands, so they put a lot more emphasis on clean musicianship than bands like Mudhoney or Nirvana did. STP were immediately signed to a major label instead of working their way up through the underground, and I think the types of bands who get immediately signed to majors tend to be the ones who are more career-oriented and disciplined enough to work on polishing up their musicianship. Soundgarden probably were the most musically complex grunge band though, cuz lots of their songs used deceptively off-kilter time signatures.

wise words Mr. Mustaine...but people with addiction have to fight their own demons... no amount of rehab will cure that...they have to want to do it or its not going to happen...no one forced him to do drugs ...this is the road he chose and now he is lost

And he could have stuck with alcohol and weed. Didn't have to go harder than that.

Dave hit the nail on the head....but all the rehab and 12 step programs that one does only works if you want it to...Scott needed a friend

" Stay away from heroin" Dave said and he could not stress it enough is what i fathomed, right?

He probably told Scott every night on tour to just go back to the bus and avoid the after party.

wow,that is the first time old dave was not talking about himself and/or being a jerk.dave has a heart and he actually does care after all!

Man, I thought he was about to say a whole lotta crap, but instead he said stuff that actually makes a lot of sense, and if this is all true, well crap, he kinda "made" STP the band it become!

Good advice from a guy that was doped up, blown out when I met him in Saginaw Mi. He was a hero until that day. Glad that he has kicked and is still rocking!

+sparkymoo It's only thing a real man can talk about...because you don't know what is in other people minds or how they see, feel etc. Other than that it would just be condescending...but whatever.

+sparkymoo The funny thing is that they were probably doing the same before the set-list advice as after. Or if they improved with the audience, other factors may have been involved. But Dave, before the advice, was probably sitting there all anxious and frustrated, and after the advice was probably standing on the side, watching with a father like pride over the child he helped raise. Suddenly, after the great advice, they were doing fabulous. Thanks Dad, I mean Dave. Now that he's dead, way to get one last ego boost out of it.

jimmi izzy Exactly. Colossal egomaniacal, self-important, delusional "almost" a rock star.

+sparkymoo The part where he takes credit for STP's success was pretty funny. Fucking egomaniac.

I met Scott during the Mighty Joe Young days, very quiet, shy almost. It's very difficult to get anyone to want to recover, Scott included.

Of course Dave made the band huge, he also invented thrash metal, had a hand in the Hadron Collider, advises the Daila Lama daily and is on his way to be sainted himself. Mustaine invented everything or showed bands how to get huge, according to Mustaine. The ego is amazing on this guy.
@Private-cf2lk9 жыл бұрын
+heres johnny Actually, he really is that good, but maybe not in all the exact ways you said. Mustaine is a huge talent, huge huge, and he did help put a lot of big things in motion.

"Oh yeah, really sad about Scott there... on that note, I was the one who made him big... and hell, while we're at it, fuck it, I'll go ahead and take credit for the addiction that took him too! Why the hell not. After all, I'm Dave Mustaine!"

I like how Dave makes it sound like STP would have never made it without him....just by changing the setlist around! lol.....pure genius that Dave is......and i like Dave.

Am I the only one noticing the fact that Mustaine is taking full credit for turning STP from a mediocre warm-up act to the powerhouse they became via pure force-of-advice? Anytime I see a Dave Mustaine interview I feel there are two people being interviewed - Dave and Dave's Ego.

If the so-called "drugs" were legal, Scott would experiment with mushrooms or weed, and not with the synthetic garbage like coke and heroin :( Here in Brazil we lost a local rockstar (if it's possible to exist such a thing lol) a few weeks after Scott died, the guy was called Jupiter Maca and was known to be always changing appearance and sound in every album, just like Scott and Bowie. But a friend of his said on the internet: "We lost this man because of a legal drug that you can find on every corner: alcohol." Stupid laws made by stupid people.

I saw STP and Blind Melon open for Neil Young w/Booker T and the MGs, L.A. Sports Arena. Scott and Shannon were both ON!! They were great frontmen, at least that day. I saw Scott a few years later at a gig on HDTV, after he got sober. He just wasn't the same animal. R I P
