If you actually listen to the show you would know that he says that his grandma was rich but she treated his mom like shit and was extremely emotionally abusive/manipulative. So they hardly ever went to see his grandma, and his grandma never helped them financially with anything. His dad worked hard but his mom couldn't work because she was a crazy person. So basically they lived on a single income with quite a few kids. Opie lies about some shit, but this isn't one of the things.

One time I said "Jesus Christ Mom!" and she slapped me in the face so fast and hard. I was young and didn't know it was a curse. My parents hit me only a handful of times. I don't see anything wrong with it. There is a difference between abuse and discipline. But then again, I never got a participation trophy in sports.

It's funny how Louis identifies with his mom, now that we have hindsight. As a parent I would never Strike my child out of frustration or anger. Discipline is a completely different thing. It's funny how his mom gets a pass.

I hear Opie and Vos are feuding nowadays (Opie is feuding with everyone in the universe it seems) and Vos just could not care less. Imagine being so low on the totem pole that Rich Vos ignores you. Yikes.
