When I was about 14 years old a friend of mine committed suicide, he was an incredible athlete, and he was funny.. just a great kid. I had been a zombie for a week straight after it happened just sitting in a basement with my friends..I remember sitting down by myself watching TV after getting home from the funeral and saw Louis Ck's HBO special, this was around 2008/2009. I was crying laughing throughout the entire thing. It was the first time I had laughed or even smiled in over a week. I'll never forget the feeling of being able to forget about everything going on and enjoy the shit out of that special.

It’s great to have Louie back. The world needs Louie now, more than ever. Edit: This is addressing the people that disagree with my statement. Let me explain what I meant by, the world need him, more than ever. Also, laughter is a crucial function for a mentally healthy individual. I know it may seem hyperbolic to say, the world needs him, but I believe, a comedian of his caliber, is important to the world.

Louis' point about someone writing on Twitter about one of his shows that was not there is far worse than just listening to his jokes without first seeing his face. If you watch his any of video specials you can see the smirk on his face when he is about to reveal a certain joke or idea. He is also a master at leading the audience to a place then turning the joke on them, like his bit about the handicapped needing a wheelchair and many more.

@@joeblo1111 Do you really believe that? I'm a long time fan of Louis' but c'mon... He behaved poorly. Louis thought so too: "I want to address the stories told to the New York Times by five women named Abby, Rebecca, Dana, Julia who felt able to name themselves and one who did not. "These stories are true. At the time, I said to myself that what I did was okay because I never showed a woman my dick without asking first, which is also true. But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your dick isn't a question. It's a predicament for them. The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly. "I have been remorseful of my actions. And I've tried to learn from them. And run from them. Now I'm aware of the extent of the impact of my actions. I learned yesterday the extent to which I left these women who admired me feeling badly about themselves and cautious around other men who would never have put them in that position. "I also took advantage of the fact that I was widely admired in my and their community, which disabled them from sharing their story and brought hardship to them when they tried because people who look up to me didn't want to hear it. I didn't think that I was doing any of that because my position allowed me not to think about it. "There is nothing about this that I forgive myself for. And I have to reconcile it with who I am. Which is nothing compared to the task I left them with. "I wish I had reacted to their admiration of me by being a good example to them as a man and given them some guidance as a comedian, including because I admired their work. "The hardest regret to live with is what you've done to hurt someone else. And I can hardly wrap my head around the scope of hurt I brought on them. I'd be remiss to exclude the hurt that I've brought on people who I work with and have worked with who's professional and personal lives have been impacted by all of this, including projects currently in production: the cast and crew of Better Things, Baskets, The Cops, One Mississippi, and I Love You Daddy. I deeply regret that this has brought negative attention to my manager Dave Becky who only tried to mediate a situation that I caused. I've brought anguish and hardship to the people at FX who have given me so much The Orchard who took a chance on my movie. and every other entity that has bet on me through the years. "I've brought pain to my family, my friends, my children and their mother. "I have spent my long and lucky career talking and saying anything I want. I will now step back and take a long time to listen. "Thank you for reading." www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-41950043.amp

You CAN believe, and state, that Louis CK is "one of the greatest comedians of all time." After all, such opinion is purely subjective. Opinion is for discussion, not argument. However, using vague and unsubstantiated RHETORIC about how you were supposedly out there canvassing the populous and surveying people (melodramatic, perhaps, but you know damn well you are trying to paint a credibility picture with this dumbass comment) about their conspiratorial allegiance to an evil illuminati of censorship snowflakes (figured out I am mocking you and YOUR own, low-key, melodramatics yet?) and social entitlement crybabies. The problem is, given the context you are DEFENDING him by FALSELY trying to label Louis CK as a "victim" of the "cancel culture" SJW's indicates you are saying whatever you think sounds good and expecting readers of your comment to "blindly believe" YOU. THAT makes you a hypocrite and a gaslighting narcissistic loser with no honor or ethics. BUT, on top of all that, we have the teensy-weeny little problem that resides in the FACT that Louis CK.... You ready???? Admitted to sexually harassing, abusing, and EXPLOITING those women. At its simplest, he basically said, "I didn't do those things with evil or depraved intentions, but years lady, upon reflection, I can understand how just because they didn't stop me showing them my D, doesn't mean it was okay when I asked or when I actually did it." Not verbatim. Maybe you should have "asked questions" first, instead of "shooting." Hyp O Crites. 😂🖕🤡 P.S. since you DON'T practice what you preach.... do you need me to post a link to an article or two regarding his admissions? Douchebags stanning losers, like you, have no integrity.

@@Swaebeats616 oh dear lord 😂😂😂😂 You and the OP really are bad at picking your horses to bet on. D'elia ALSO admitted to sexually harassing women, soliciting them, and sending them lewd and unsolicited texts and images. About the only thing he hasn't admitted to (while being a COWARD and claiming - as most of them do, that he has a sex addiction/obsession problem - ok, sure) is the allegations of women who were MINORS at the time of their incidents assessing the situation as "grooming" activity by D'elia. These are FACTS and accountability amd consequences are NOT being "cancelled" or a "victim of cancel culture." These two are/were exploitative, dishonest, creepy, SEX PESTS. You don't have to be convicted of a crime to face consequences - that is how society has ALWAYS worked. You teo are just butthurt and YOU are the ones crying. 😂😂😂😂

Honestly this applies even past conversations about comedian's. Like a personal request for a joke via text. Received via text, people might find It is not funny. You might think its the joke and honestly it could be as you only got half the joke. That is because body language is at least 50% of the joke. How it was said, what tone, gestures were used. These things matter, but because we have become so digitized. Things that never needed translates in regards to communicating must now all be alphabetized.
@Christopheromoan2 жыл бұрын
True. Very true. You lose the tone, the cadence etc in text.
@nutbastard2 жыл бұрын
Which is why what does work as far as comedy goes in the written form - as in, on the internet - is very different from what works on stage. The lack of tone and inflection and implied intent is replaced with images and the text superimposed on those images - the classic image macro style of meme. There are very few genuinely funny text-only tweets. Not none, but not many.

Him and Shane Gillis are two people who are just clearly more intelligent than the average comedians, and it becomes obvious as soon as you do something like ask them about Twitter.. you hear how their responses frame the topic much more intellectually than what we typically hear from people like Joe or other comedians who exist on such a different wavelength. Odd that these two in particular both decided to do things that ended up getting them cancelled.

How about ol' mate Tim Dillon? Is he not included in your list of comics you believe to be of higher intelligence because he is a homosexual? How do you measure intelligence Broc?? Just about all good comedians seem to have a pretty low level of emotional intelligence. Don't get me wrong, I like both of those comedians and I think that crafting their material and performing it requires a level of skill and aptitude that you will only find amongst people with a respectably decent level of intellectual intelligence. But be real, it's not like these two stand out as having outstanding, genius level intelligence that is light years ahead of their contemporaries. Maybe you think they are smarter because you relate and agree with their content more than other comics and you personally believe yourself to have a higher intelligence than the average garden variety consumer of standup comedy??? No, it couldn't be something as egotistical and condescending as that could it????

The Woke Community, Eye of Karen, whatever you want to call it, is so fucked up. How could this guy ever get cancelled!? If anyone ever took the opportunity to talk to him they would know he's not a bad person. What he's saying now on this episode is so vitally important to the Future of comedy and let's face it, free speech. Everything has context, especially the spoken word. Unfortunately, because of its form, it's very easy for someone to take the spoken word out of context and frame it to suit whatever their agenda is. fortunately more and more people are waking up in a more enlightened sense and are canceling the Cancellers. we need to keep this conversation going and start something new. our technological advances have created this clickbait and fake woke cancel culture. I think the next big wave in society needs to be a true social awakening where it's okay for people to have discussion and polar opposite opinions and maintain a civil discord.
