I wonder if people know the story of how that scarf came to be... The BBC contracted with a very nice lady to knit it for them and gave her a quantity of yarn, but they never specified that she didn't have to use it all. So she used it all, and the result was unfeasibly long. The Costumer apologized to Tom, but of course, being Tom, he thought it was brilliant and wore it anyways. It did come in handy as a sort of emergency sling on location for "The Sontaran Experiment" when Tom broke his collarbone during filming.

@marcusdamberger3 жыл бұрын
I suspect he won't come back as the curator, he didn't feel very welcome by the production staff. They brought him in and and soon as the scene was done, had him sent off. It also sounds like they didn't give him much to work with or allow him to adlib or play around with the script like he likes to do. Really business like. It almost seems like the production staff at that time didn't understand what a big deal it was to have him come back, or the impact he had on a generation of viewers that he did. I'm sure the other actors understood this aspect, but everyone else on the production wasn't well informed.

@@marcusdamberger No disrespect to your comment, this may be the case, however, I have read two other interviews with Tom, and he tells a different story. He was not well at the time and agreed to appear in the 50th, and although it was an early start for him, 4 in the morning he was picked up, ( due to the secrecy of his involvement ) he wanted to do the scene and return home as quickly as was possible. He stood back ushering me out before stepping into the shop. Indelible moment.
