I bet $20 that if Louis doesn't have the case dismissed and doesn't show up, the judge finds in favor of the defendant, files an order to have Louis return the payment, charges him court fees and fines him for not showing up. European Union is filled with these idiotic false flags too sent by parasites on regular. Where you are fined for something that have zero f--ks to do with you but it's a thing and you have to pay etc. Also they send you a notice that takes them 5 working days to deliver then the dispute is 7 days. So they send it on monday gets to my post office on friday I get it delivered on saturday morning I probably read it on Sunday and can go f--k myself because they don't work on sunday and wont take disputes on monday or tuesday since they count actual days and not only work days ... So I been fined over things that are not my property, not my wrong doing but sure enough the bills are stacking up and next year I will probably put in front of the court and I wouldn't be surprised if thanks to some loop hole I will be put in prison too in a year or two idk how much it takes them to process these stupid things ... So far I managed to bounce off these from me to a person who is obligated to pay however he paid out every debt etc and cleared my name too however new things keep popping up on my door every month. My lawyer said to not worry etc but seen instances that just one mistake with these can result in you end up being homeless and lose everything you have. So it eats me every single day. I developed paranoia, depression and lots of other things, all this costs money and time. And once again this have nothing to do with me but yet again I get fined over and over again ... I legit am thinking if this continues I will sell everything I own and start living in middle of the woods on a mountain away from everything and everyone. I am sick of this world (people). Just one example a man was suing a company for unpaid work related paychecks. They dragged it out for 5 or so years the man won the case however the company no longer existed and had zero money to pay him, the cost of years long legal f--king around accumulated to about 200k euros that he was later extorted for and they took EVERYTHING he owned even his old torn clothing. The man was basically tossed out by police on the streets with one backpack and everything else was taken from him. He was old, sick couldnt get a job, his pention erased etc. It's really messed up. I don't know what happened next and if this man is still alive somewhere or past away back then being homeless and sick ... This scenario and many others just like it roll around in my head and it's frighten me. Even if I win I lost time and money and tomorrow they will find new ways to attack me and put me out ... No matter what seems like you can't win and they wait for that one simple mistake you make to take away your life. These are legit 1st class parasites running legal extortions.

NY is notorious for dragging their feet. My grandfather passed away back in June. He had a state death benefit due to him being a school bus driver and his wife having been a state employee for a little while and a county employee for many years. After 3 months, my mother called wanting to know what was going on, as it was taking so long. Life insurance paid out within 2 weeks. The state's response was it takes 4-6 months to process the payment.

What stood out the most in this for me (since I've been there) is his whole rant about poor people not having the buffers required to deal with this kind of shit. It's very on point. Not to mention you just know they have the gall to increase or add any fines for mistakes they made, making a person's situation all that more worse. It can easily put someone into an endless loophole of not having enough money to pay for things, thus getting fined for not paying which means they now need to pay even more things that they can't etc... I don't live in the US and I've only had something like this happen once with taxes (they mistakenly billed me 12k in inheritance tax for a non-existent inheritance), which took way too long (months) to solve, I can't imagine having stupid stuff like that happen _constantly_ and for years!
@Krytern

Debt is a vicious cycle that keeps circling around that governments just don't care about. You owe them money, you got to pay them ASAP or keep getting fines put on top and bailiffs at your door. The government owes you it is going to take months to get a lump sum, or they won't charge you taxes on wages until it is paid so it takes months to get the money trickled to you. But you're late by one day they slap a nice fine on for you.
@stevenchristenson2428
@stevenchristenson2428 Жыл бұрын
This literally occurs in southern states. People can just get a speeding ticket and literally after mothes to years of being fined over and over again can go to jail for not having enough money. Fucking debtors prisons all over again. The states do this type of thing because the prisions there are privatized and make a system thats impossible to escape from. More innmates means more public funding they get. So they campaign to get laws and statues put in place to keep this deplorable system going.

Sometimes, you don’t even need to step foot in NYC to feel the long arm of its perceived jurisdiction. In the past decade nearly a million people left NYC. Over the past two years NYC lost 468,000 residents (5.3%). The trend continues in 2023. In the first quarter of this year they lost 31,600 residents. The three main reasons residents gave for leaving was the high cost of living, high taxes, and quality of life issues. Citizens generally fail to grasp why government at all levels is bad, and that libertarian beliefs are far healthier for society than Progressive fascism. The Federal Gov't, in particular, has extensive documentation & implementation; the fault lies in citizens imagining that a bureaucrat who has no particular stake in an issue is somehow a better authority than someone who actually cares about an issue, simply because they're perceived to be unbiased. Not desperation, entitlement. That's the sort of people who run NYC. They do not believe taxes are you're money, being used to fund services. They believe it is fundamentally the states money. Whether you get any services out of it, is irrelevant. In fact they believe that any money which isn't taxed, is money denied to the state. They are like the inverse of libertarians. "exempt income is theft" may as well be their catch cry.

I have always liked to perform my own repairs when I have tools and time (and sometimes, dexterity, microsoldering may not be for me). Kudos for keavibg that bureaucratic hellscape. Other states have their own problems but states like NY, CA, MA have such a labyrinthian structure of law and such a huge meddling bureaucracy as to be unlivable for many. There's a lot of big talk about providing extra services to the customer (residents) but little follow through and almost no oversight (true of many governmental entities), and the more money we give them, the bigger, more bloated, more tyrannical and less responsive they become. Ridiculous. I like the idea of governments providing essential services for a reasonable price but I think most governments large enough to suck up and waste more money have completely divorced themselves from ethics or compassion. We're just more meat for the grinder, essentially.

My mother worked in City government from 1986 to 2012. And while I cannot speak specifically about the departments you've dealt with, I can probably guess at the reasons why you had trouble. Hiring freezes is one major reason. With unfilled vacancies, staff workload would go way up. Overtime was often limited to an hour a day - if it was allowed at all. Cross-training was a four-letter word - albeit justifiably, as the departments often threw out-of-title jobs onto workers because of the hiring freezes and vacancies. If you filed a union dispute, you might get back pay and a title increase, or you might get the back pay and see the vacancy suddenly filled by a "team player". This lack of cross-training means that if someone is out sick or on vacation, there is nobody to do their job. What that last part could mean is that Employee X typed a letter to you on the 1st of the month, but the printer was broken. They were on vacation for the next week or two, and since nobody else did their job, your letter wasn't actually printed and mailed until they came back to work, printing and mailing it the same day. Now, despite my bias, I won't deny that there is a lazy employee component to the problem. But the biggest problem is the size of City government. It's huge, it is very disorganized, the buildings they occupy are often ancient in years, with copious quantities of wall-mounted conduit to handle the electrical upgrades and the ethernet cables, and their layouts are often rabbit warrens. Computers were seldom up to the tasks asked of them (too little ram, tiny local drives, and outdated proprietary software that dragged the OS to its knees. And nobody can fix any of that because there's always someone higher who doesn't see the problem. 😢

This is like when I was called for Jury Duty in a province I have never lived in. Got a summons a few days before I had to be there, called them and they told me I had to dispute in person. So a 3700km 40ish hour drive later I try to dispute, and am denied. Have to spend 3 weeks paying out of pocket for hotels, food etc then DURING deliberations for the trial, they tell me I can go home because I shouldn't have been there in the first place...and they will have to retrial the defendant. So almost 4 weeks of my time, around $5500 to $6000 + lost wages and I didn't even get the $50 a day because I was not a resident of the province the sent me to. I get home and about a month later I get a letter stating I did not have to perform Jury Duty on that case as there was a mixup and I was not from that province.This happened in 2019 and I am still waiting to get the compensation they were going to send.

@@sarahlachman1349 Can't ignore it... if you don't show up its like a $2000 fine, you still need to go to the same courthouse for the hearing either way, and if you don't show for that, you get an arrest warrant out and then it becomes a criminal charge.

Bureaucracy moves at a snail's pace for everything but matters that personally concerns them. I remember a story my father told about a guy who wanted to open a restaurant. First he needed to send a request to start a restaurant, then wait for a reply. Once he got permission, he had to send documentation for where he wanted to open it, and wait. Then he had to get a permit to remodel. Then he had to send documentation for EACH step of the remodelling process. For the plumbing and electrical he also needed to get documentation from the electrician and plumber first (which thankfully went faster, since they don't spend their days fingering eachother's asses instead of working). And then on and on with having to file paperwork before each step. Thing is, the guy had quit his job, so was losing a lot of money just waiting for permission to move to the next step. Thankfully he managed to get through it all and open the restaurant. But no thanks to the bureaucrats.

You need to file for dismissal of the case ASAP. What you don't want to do is simply not show up. That is a huge mistake. Either show up, or file dismissal now.

Can't wait until the average New Yorker needs to go 13-20 miles to shop or eat at a restaurant. Or maybe someone competent will pop up in the bureaucratic departments that care far less than Louis and is willing to take everyone to court for even the slightest slip in their lie. A true age of accountability, a right revolution for NYC.

@@Travis12861I moved from Sweden to Spain, and salaries are about HALF to A THIRD of what I made in Sweden, but I still can save up money for the first time in my life, because the living expenses is A FIFTH of my living expenses in a small town in Swedistan with relatively cheap housing. You can't just sit and wait for a negative economy to get in the positive before you move on, because then you NEVER will. Just LEAVE and deal with a short rough time of pesky collectors and mailed threats. You'll make up for it in no time in TX, FL or NH. Just leave. You will not regret it. Promise.

I "kind of" noticed a similar thing when I moved from Missouri to where I'm at now. Anything you tried to do in Missouri for yourself gets dragged out to the point it's forgotten about. Go to the DMV just to renew your drivers license. Something I had done multiple times before. Only this time, we needed to have our birth certificates. New laws and all right? Well, what they didn't tell us what was legally a birth cert and what wasn't. I had my original one with my baby foot print on it. They don't tell me, or anyone else in line that those types are not legally allowed until we are to the point of getting our pictures taken. Had to drive an hour further north to BUY a "legal" birth cert, as did many others, to then drive back an hour, to sit in line for another couple hours, to only be told to come back the next day because it was closing time. Weird how I was able to move to another state and had not only less difficulty but I was presented with all the "legally" required and allowed items for me to get a new DL in my new state.

At this point, you might as well start sending notices to NYC saying that _they_ in fact owe YOU money and that they need to contact you asap to resolve it. And, of course, make the due date before you know theyll get it so you can immediately send a follow up notice for overdue fines lol

My mom one time got so pissed about New York similarly asking for exact change on a nonsensical trumped up charge that she walked up to their clerks, dumped a whole bag worth of dimes on their desk, and told the desk clerks there to have fun counting that. The charge was in the ball park of $50 to $60 dollars, so that's 500 to 600 dimes. Maybe not the nicest thing to do in hindsight, given the clerks aren't sending the mail.

You are wrong there, those Clerks are the ones that mail out the fine notices. Someone else determines the fines, the Clerks are the messengers.
