I learned I had a passion for being an honest repairman and an honest salesman when I worked for Radioshack before their decline. They lied to me about things to make me think I was an honest salesman, but I loved feeling like one and learned to verify hearsay before claiming it's true myself. I became an engineer, mechanic, repair tech, and salesman all in one and I've never had an unsatisfied client.
@ultimatepotato7134 ай бұрын
Why? Mechanics are constantly scamming their customers into unnecessary “repairs”. Where do you think the blinker fluid joke comes from?
@ForeverHobbit4 ай бұрын
@@ultimatepotato713 at least they know what they are talking about. So a mean-spirited person will scam you sure, but salesmen most of the time sell stuff they have no knowledge about and they claim it's not their fault if they scam you. Ignorance is bliss. So yes, a mechanic can and some do scam you you but it's less likely. Especially because in that case you want regular maintenance on your vehicle so a recurring customer is way better than one you scammed once and doesn't come back to you.
@nabieladrian4 ай бұрын
@@ultimatepotato713 The difference is that one knows what they're doing, the other just playing around. You can only fool someone as much as you know what you're fooling people with. Mechanics fools with blinker fluids because they're aware there's no such thing to even repair. Salesman fools with blinker fluid because they didn't even aware there's no such thing, they just see it as extra services for bonus. This didn't even factor the reputation. Mechanics risk their career for pennies... salesman... isn't that their whole thing?

I don’t do PCB design, so this is an analogy. I design control panels for a living. We take separation of voltages incredibly seriously. So, when I’m in the physical layout stage of my panels, I have to make time to make sure that all of my components and wire ways are designed and arranged so as to minimize overlap between different voltages. If I have a circuit that’s even 5 times smaller than another, nevermind 20x as is the case with the GPU pins 1 and 43, you can bet yourself it’s going to get priority for separation. To accomplish this, even in a panel with roughly 1500-2000 connection points, about 200 components and terminals, by myself, using only basic cad software, on a design that is only going to be fabricated once, it takes me between 1-3 days. Even if the components themselves have a mixed voltages. I’m very practiced at it by this point, and my panels look very beautiful because there’s a kind of beauty when you organize your voltages and signals well. Why does my company allow me to spend the time doing this? Because during commissioning, any SINGLE mixed voltage issue can take days to identify and troubleshoot, nevermind possibly damaged components with long lead times. The customer will also hold us accountable and start kicking and screaming when we try to convince them that it’s just how it has to be. So, that Apple can’t separate a ~2 volt SIGNAL line from a 50v POWER line that has given them problems is rather absurd. On a mass-produced component, any single failure that happens more than just once means that it has been replicated en mass, and will happen again. And again. And again. It wouldn’t take a team of PCB designers more than a few days or weeks to fix the issue of the traces being close at failure pints even for the first generation of a design, nevermind the the next one. And you can bet your ass they have the software for it. They’re not going to design devices counted in the millions with any old basic CAD software package. They KNOW what they’re doing.

Anyone who Apple allows on their premises, sends devices early to and allows to film an interview with Tim Cook should definitely not be trusted to fairly review products or decisions Apple makes. That much should have always been clear about Marquess. You should not listen to anything he says about Apple, because that's what Apple wants you to hear. In a perfect world, that would not be the case, because Apple would actually value independent media and treat every credible media outlet in exactly the same way. In the circus we currently live in, however, this is not the case, and Apple very much vets tech media they interact with.
@jepulis66744 ай бұрын
Nah, the corruption goes beyond Apple because his access is so valuable in views he gets that it taints everything.
@rodh14044 ай бұрын
I think the best advice is trust no one. Even people who value their credibility can make honest mistakes. And there are plenty of people who are willing to sell their credibility if the price is right. None of us have unlimited amounts of time to check everything everyone says, but if it sounds off and it's something that's important to you, then take a moment to look into it further.
@gleb.salmanov4 ай бұрын
@@rodh1404 Yes, I agree. However, my point is not so much about trust, as it is about reputation. Apple has a reputation of only blessing biased media with exclusive stuff. Marquess has a reputation of having a good relationship with Apple. Last time I checked, two plus two was equal to four. When it changes to five, three or minus one, this will be evidence that logic no longer applies in this world and we need to rethink whether or not to listen to Marquess when it comes to Apple stuff.

Yeah he has given so many testimonies infront of lawmakers fighting against big corps alone for our rights. Yet after all these years it seems like he has lost. Nothing has changed despite how many awesome testimonies he has given, how many videos he has made on simple engineering flaws and videos on tech giants exploiting our data for their profit. Nothing has changed and in his new video he gives the vibes of a tired man who just wants to run his shop in peace now. Sucks to see that these companies are still raking in billions in profits while lobbying lawmakers to not take any action

@@aeducationenjoyer.1259 that's for every industry, because that's how they're supposed to operate. The problem, is that the profits are no longer tied to customer satisfaction. They've effectively discovered a way to make their money, and be profitble, without being accountable to customers, because customers don't have alternatives. It's really not the fault of the companies, it's the fault of the market for not adequately providing competition to keep large corporations accountable. Blame successful tech companies that immediately sell off to larger corporations, or fuck up in some way and destroy their brand that at one time had promise. Or blame samsung, Sony, and all the other electronics companies creating their own ecosystems, eliminating competition between one another in favor of locking customers into their product lines exclusively, etc.

They offer the least amount of warranty that they can get away with. You know... like a corporation does. Warranty duration has little to do with actual durability or reliability. Kia/Hyundai have 5/60k warranties and 10/100k warranties for bumper-to-bumper and powertrain. Toyota and Honda have 3/36k and 5/60k warranties for the same things. Which is more reliable? Which manufacturers will repair your vehicle with little to no issue? Which manufacture will drag you through the mud for months as they hem and haw about replacing your Theta 2 that has metal shavings in it?

Apple gives VIP treatment for top influencers that don’t heavily criticize them. By getting units early, inside access, and exclusive interviews it grows his channel and gets Apple positive coverage. If he was more critical, they wouldn’t give the access he uses to grow his channel revenue. With this clear mutual positive relationship MKBHD isn’t someone that should be trusted.

When MKBHD only reviewed cameras and phones and stuff it seemed like he really went in depth on each device but I never did the math on the fact that if he has his own "daily-driver" phone and his own cameras and is also reviewing a new device every few days that there is no time to actually test any of this stuff properly. Maybe it wasn't always a sham but it seems that way now. His car review channel where he borrows a car for an hour or 2 and doesn't even drive it kind of makes this obvious.
