Why? Mechanics are constantly scamming their customers into unnecessary “repairs”. Where do you think the blinker fluid joke comes from?

@@ultimatepotato713 at least they know what they are talking about. So a mean-spirited person will scam you sure, but salesmen most of the time sell stuff they have no knowledge about and they claim it's not their fault if they scam you. Ignorance is bliss. So yes, a mechanic can and some do scam you you but it's less likely. Especially because in that case you want regular maintenance on your vehicle so a recurring customer is way better than one you scammed once and doesn't come back to you.

Salesman fools with blinker fluid because they didn't even aware there's no such thing, they just see it as extra services for bonus. This didn't even factor the reputation. big case in Australia where a new 2021 Mercedes Benz was purchased for $85,000. Car was well maintained & serviced by Merc Benz dealership. October 2024 owner noticed that the leather steering wheel was showing cracks & some of the stitching was pulling away. Took car back to MB dealership for warranty claim. Dealership sent warranty claim (with photos & detailed description of defects) to Mercedes Benz Australia. MB (Aust) denied the claim stating 'normal wear & tear'. Long story short, MB (Aust) was taken to court, and lost, after spending approx. $100K in attorneys, court costs, etc. rather than replacing the $6K steering wheel under warranty.

I don’t do PCB design, so this is an analogy. I design control panels for a living. We take separation of voltages incredibly seriously. So, when I’m in the physical layout stage of my panels, I have to make time to make sure that all of my components and wire ways are designed and arranged so as to minimize overlap between different voltages. If I have a circuit that’s even 5 times smaller than another, nevermind 20x as is the case with the GPU pins 1 and 43, you can bet yourself it’s going to get priority for separation. To accomplish this, even in a panel with roughly 1500-2000 connection points, about 200 components and terminals, by myself, using only basic cad software, on a design that is only going to be fabricated once, it takes me between 1-3 days. Even if the components themselves have a mixed voltages. I’m very practiced at it by this point, and my panels look very beautiful because there’s a kind of beauty when you organize your voltages and signals well. Why does my company allow me to spend the time doing this? Because during commissioning, any SINGLE mixed voltage issue can take days to identify and troubleshoot, nevermind possibly damaged components with long lead times. The customer will also hold us accountable and start kicking and screaming when we try to convince them that it’s just how it has to be. So, that Apple can’t separate a ~2 volt SIGNAL line from a 50v POWER line that has given them problems is rather absurd. On a mass-produced component, any single failure that happens more than just once means that it has been replicated en mass, and will happen again. And again. And again. It wouldn’t take a team of PCB designers more than a few days or weeks to fix the issue of the traces being close at failure pints even for the first generation of a design, nevermind the the next one. And you can bet your ass they have the software for it. They’re not going to design devices counted in the millions with any old basic CAD software package. They KNOW what they’re doing.
@KratostheThird11 күн бұрын
Apple is too big and bloated. They don’t have to care because they’re a faceless corporation that just wants your money. Anybody who remotely knows circuitry and basic level electronics knows that putting a 40 - 50 volt line next to a data line is wrong. You can read a book on what electricians do for a living and you would easily figure out that these designs are made to fail. This results in the end consumer paying out more money towards the corporation who approved this garbage. That’s why third party repair is suffering because Apple doesn’t want these small businesses actually giving their customers a good price when it comes to repair. This was 100% intentional and was done by the big business heads at Apple.

Some day I'll take the easy way out, too. It's just that I put it off longer than others; it doesn't make me different or better than anyone I criticize. I spent 15 years fighting the good fight in my industry and trying to show people how to do this work with pride. What do I have to show for it? What does the industry have to show for it? We live in a less free world with regards to what you can do with what you bought and paid for than we did when I started in 2008. I am human. Someday I'll choose to take the easy way out as well. The way that causes less long-term hair loss, and an easier life. Pushing a boulder uphill for no return on investment isn't something I do because I'm moral or ethical. It's something I do because I'm nuts. I started working at avatar studios as an intern in 2007, became a tech at the end of the year. I was 18. It's 2024. I'm going to be 36. At some point, I *WILL* give up and take the easy money. I'm not virtuous. I'm not good. I'm not special. I'm being pushed out of what I've created. I lost. People with less to lose care less about principles. I mean it when I say what I say. Don't look up to me, because someday you'll be making a video on me the same way I made a video on him. You haters will never let go... keep scratching at the walls out of desperation. Have you never considered to use your own head and logic to determine why Apple is successful? Do you think a 3.33 trillion company is built on lies like you suggest? People arent THAT stupid. Apple does what its supposed to right, they make the peoples phone. The most useable and advanced "hip" products. Your conspiracy theories are nothing more than spite and hatred.

@@aeducationenjoyer.1259 that's for every industry, because that's how they're supposed to operate. The problem, is that the profits are no longer tied to customer satisfaction. They've effectively discovered a way to make their money, and be profitble, without being accountable to customers, because customers don't have alternatives. It's really not the fault of the companies, it's the fault of the market for not adequately providing competition to keep large corporations accountable. Blame successful tech companies that immediately sell off to larger corporations, or fuck up in some way and destroy their brand that at one time had promise. Or blame samsung, Sony, and all the other electronics companies creating their own ecosystems, eliminating competition between one another in favor of locking customers into their product lines exclusively, etc.

You laugh, but Apple legit did this to my sister's iPod Touch back in the day! The 90%+ humidity in our state actually tripped the water damage sticker internally ... and they REFUSED to service it when the home button stopped working and the device was still under warranty. Needless to say, we haven't given Apple a single dollar again since that experience back in 2010/2011.

They offer the least amount of warranty that they can get away with. You know... like a corporation does. Warranty duration has little to do with actual durability or reliability. Kia/Hyundai have 5/60k warranties and 10/100k warranties for bumper-to-bumper and powertrain. Toyota and Honda have 3/36k and 5/60k warranties for the same things. Which is more reliable? Which manufacturers will repair your vehicle with little to no issue? Which manufacture will drag you through the mud for months as they hem and haw about replacing your Theta 2 that has metal shavings in it?
