Louis Vuitton Vintage Noe Cleaning Project

My Noe gm is 20 years old and I took it to the handbag clinic and they made a fabulous job of cleaning it.... the leather on the old bags is excellent but needs a lot of conditioning if it’s started to dry out. I got a replacement cord from Etsy. Good luck it’s a super classic bag xx

Yuenny Lam it was 4.00 a metre, it’s not an official Louis Vuitton cord. But it was a great look a like to the patina the bag already had x

Rita Teixeira i use a product called leather cream from timpson in the uk. I only apply it to leather that has already started to patina xx

Im from New Zealand, we don’t have the products recommended online like Apple, Cadillac, Love My Bag, etc. shipping to New Zealand costs so much about $30 NZD which is close to the price of these conditioners. I emailed a few manufacturers available in New Zealand like Merchant (shoe shop that stocks a few leather care products), and a few that make leather care products for couches, shoes, belts, and some did mention handbags too. None of them said OK to use on my vintage LV Keepall 45. I’m still looking for leather conditioner alternatives 😔

Thanks for your comment. I feel like I have the same problem in the UK. A lot of leather products I have heard of and watch reviews on are sold in the US, including Lovin My Bags and postage is almost as much as much the product (if not more). I don't generally use any cleaning or conditioning products on my LV bags, but this vintage Noe I bought was meant to be a little project, so I just wanted to see what I can do with it in terms of refurbishing. Does you vintage Keepall actually need cleaning/conditioning? If not, then you might be better off leaving it natural.

Thank you. It has definitely dried out the leather, but looks better than it did. Now that I know this size works for me, I might have to try and find a vintage in better condition. The Petit Noe didn't work out for me unfortunately, but this one is perfect.

My honest opinion is that yes, it's a beautiful bag and I love how all the different sizes of Noe bags look and age over time. But for me, they don't work. I've had the Petit Noe and the Noe, which both were really uncomfortable to use. They both slipped down my shoulders, even when I hold onto the strap to make it stay on it still has the tendancy to gravitate towards the floor instantly every single time. That's the reason I got the Noe BB because of the longer strap where I can wear the bag on my shoulder with the option to wear it cross-body. I am gutted this bag didn't work out for me because I love it. Another thing to point out though is that it doesn't have any internal pockets, so everything gets lost in there. Sometimes I wear clothes with no pockets for my phone, so I have to throw it in the bag and it would take me a while to find it. So if you're someone who likes to take photos with your phone on a day out then make sure you have pockets on you 😊 Hope this helps!

I have to save up for a long time usually so I totally understand that you'd want to be sure it's what you really want. It is a lot of money! I'm glad I am able to help. The reason I make videos is because I want to help others and if there is knowledge or opinion I can share then it makes me happy. I don't have a big channel so I try to respond to everyone. A lot of the times (even very small channels) don't even bother replying or just liking a comment. @@YuennyLam thank you 🙏🏼 You are the best and I pray you grow. We need more people like you, to do honest reviews. Most of the luxury brand reviewers, they buy and sell. Also many I think return the bag after trying it out. I hate buying from the stores because of that. I put on a card and pay it in 10 months. That’s how I collect. I see a lot of reviews where people buy 4 or 5, and then you find out they have returned one. So I sometimes wonder about the quality of the bag. I really don’t want one that’s been pawed a lot especially if it’s new 😊 This will be my last for awhile. Thank you again.

@@penniesworth I know what you mean. Sometimes the luxury brand reviewers buy for the sake of making videos, say how much they love what they bought and two weeks later they've either returned or sold the bag, because they've never even taken it outside. I also have to work hard for my bags and don't have a lot of disposable income, so every decision I make to purchase is carefully thought out. I appreciate what I own and buy, and it's probably why I can give honest reviews about my possessions. Hope you enjoy the bag and have loads of fun days out with her 😊

I agree. Preloved prices can vary massively depending on where you look. I think for this bag in similar condition should be around GBP £200 and no more than £300. Mine isn't in the greatest of conditions as you can see in the video, so I personally wouldn't pay anything more than £300 (within Europe). I understand prices in the US are a lot higher though. I agree, I don't think the Noé is not as big as everyone says. They keep giving the impression that its humongous. I saw a video where they compared it to a speedy 35 and a neverfull MM. When I saw it next to the GM it was apparent that you could carry the Noè inside the GM.

Yes, the Noe GM really isn't that big. It'll be close in terms of how much it'll fit compared to the Neverfull MM. I probably wouldn't even say this is a large bag and it certainly wouldn't be big enough if I want to use it as a weekend bag.

@@YuennyLam Its a good size daily work bag with plenty of room but definitely not a weekend bag. I've both the Speedy 35 and the Noé I would say its comparable to the Speedy 35. I think I could use both the Speedy 35 and the Noé for a weekend travel set. I once used my Alexander Wang Rocco and Rockie as a travel set when I flew to the Netherlands for the weekend. The Rocco is slightly bigger than a Speedy 30 and the Rockie is similar to a Speedy 25. I just realised I have two cute weekend travel sets.

@@myhubbyislouisvuitton4218 Definitely a good size for work, but I still prefer the Neverfull for work because of the bigger opening and the interior pocket. I never realised how much I appreciate having a pocket inside until you don't have one lol.. It's so handy for smaller items that I need quickly like my phone, lip balm and even my card holder. I have tried using the Pochette Accessoires in the Noe for that purpose but it flops over and a bit far down to reach quickly. You do have two cute travel sets. I like my Neverfull GM for weekends away and I've been enjoying smaller/mini bags so much lately when I'm not going to work. Any plans for more travels this year?

Yuenny Lam Yes, I'll be driving back and forth to Paris throughout the year and I hope to visit Barcelona for a skating holiday in September. I also hope to visit a friend in the Netherlands. I love my road trips and if I am traveling alone I would rather have the small travel sets rather than struggling to lift a bigger suit case into the car. I'm really excited about traveling this year because I'll have the opportunity to really enjoy driving my car. Driving in Europe is certainly a nicer driving experience for me. Will you be doing much traveling this year?

@@myhubbyislouisvuitton4218 I love travelling. I'll be going to Scotland and hopefully Norway, Greece and another place this year. Skating as in inline/roller skating? I skate as well, generally twice a week but indoors. I love it! Skating in Barcelona sounds amazing! I know some people who did that last year. I know what you mean. I went to Belfast on my own last month and had a small wheeled holdall and my Speedy B30. Worked perfectly.

I don't think there is much you can do to prevent the leather from cracking although some people find that conditioning the bag helps, but LV will repair the vachetta at a cost. Unfortunately if the cracks/rips get to the canvas then LV won't be able to repair that.

Lovin My Bags and some other leather conditioners, but I haven't tried any than Lovin My Bags Vachetta Conditioner, so I have no experience myself. Some use Apple Garde which I have heard good things about.

I don't actually remember where I purchased it. But I remember looking on eBay and they have a lot of twilly-type scarves. Have a search and there should be loads of options for a cheap price. Let me know 👍

Thank you for your lovely comment. It is sad to see what I've done to the leather, but I knew it may be the case when I started this little project, so I don't mind too much. At least I've tried my best to make the bag look better. I love open bags and drawstrings. Even when I use my Speedys, I never zip up - always leave it open =D x

Beautiful ! I have that Noe 1988. check out Lauren Loves youtube channel . She use two products that works wonder on vintage Louis Vuitton. I used them on my Noe it looks good.
