You really had a hard time and then also nice experiences in Nicaragua! Getting sick in such conditions can really be challenging! I am so glad it wasn’t any disease more serious! Interesting places where you stay over night, like this fire department and the nice chicken farm! Thanks for your sharing! Good luck and safe travels!

Found your videos by accident yesterday, looking for information on El Salvador. I am not going to bike but just wanted to see the mid-american countries. I think so far El Salvador is my favorite. Thanks for sharing your adventures, glad you are okay !

I'm sure experienced travellers like these guys would never seriously judge a nation by its immigration procedures. Some of the best people in the world live in countries with the worst governments.

Those border crossing look like a pain in the a$$. I can completely understand your frustration, and then also to be sick... that must have been a tough couple of days. Great to see you were doing fine again at the end. Looking forward to your experience in Costa Rica, must be an amzing place. Bon Voyago !

Yea, those first few days definitely weren’t great, but everything was fine at the end! 😅

I drove an old VW bus from Montréal to Panama city a few years ago. From what i understand, judging by the fact that all documents have the same letterhead"all the border " management for central american countries is done by one agency. A private company. It feels like their inefficiency and corruption runs very deep. All the way to the top probably. I experienced bribery, extortion, and veiled threats on my life. As soon as you get to CR and Panama its another world...and South America is sooo much more freindly and efficient. Proof that it can be done! Im guessing that central American govts dont want to fix this.. probably because they are getting short term personal gains from it. That said, as you have shown, most people of these countries are some of the freindliest, helpful and generous I've met anywhere in the world. This video reflects this reality well. Thank-you!

Very interesting! Although we luckily never directly experienced a situation like you described, we've heard of it a few times already from others and unfortunately also sometimes felt the system was very corrupt. But for the most part the locals were definitely very friendly! 😊

I did Nicaragua a couple of months ago and followed al the same pacific route, it was hot and windy! Nice people, overall beautiful country! The road from Granada to Rivas was pretty bad, heavy traffic and no shoulder. I actually stayed at the Red Cross just across the street from the fire department station you stayed, it’s a shame you didn’t cycle Ometepe for me that was the highlight. Hope you are fully recovered, I had a week fever in Colombia, it’s not easy!
@louisaandtobi2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, yea, all recovered now. 😊 We agree, in all it was a beautiful country and we had some nice experiences, it just didn’t start so well! 😅

I over stayed my visa in El Salvador and I changed it myself. When I got to the border the guy asked me who did that I said he did when I came into the country. He was the person that gave me the visa and he changed it yet again. I rolled out in less than 15 minutes.
@blackspruceroutes Жыл бұрын
Did you $$$ him? That often fixes soo many problems!
@SurlyRider2019 Жыл бұрын
@@blackspruceroutes Didn’t have to, he got in trouble for changing the visa information because he told his supervisor he did it.

As we only spent two nights in Honduras we didn't feel we could make a whole video on it, so it's at the end of our "El Salvador" video.

I was in Nicaragua for more than a year and it s paradise. That s why i don t trust KZbin videos to really know what a country is like. Only personal experience can be trusted... I m never sick but i think health care are free in big hospitals even for tourists.......Leon sucks. ! Best place is San Juan del Sur.....
@louisaandtobi2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, you always have to experience a place for yourself! Places that we have been told were great we didn’t like at all and the other way round! We never watch videos about places we’re going to beforehand. In the end we didn’t actually have a bad experience in Nicaragua, it just didn’t start well…

@@louisaandtobi San Juan is the St Tropez of Nicaragua and maybe of all central America and maybe i liked it so much because I was one of the very few tourists. Full of people like in normal situation might have been an other story. Usually, what attracts the crowd sucks.... Among other things, decent rooms were $5. Normally, they are $40 ! Curious to see what you will get out of Costa Rica. It has the reputation of being the most expensive country and the most americanized.....
@Luigi132 жыл бұрын
It is no wonder that when you see and experience the real workings of a government agency you do notice why some countries have the problems they do. Jus make sure you don't think like a German while travelling you will get more frustrated.
@louisaandtobi2 жыл бұрын
We sure do get frustrated a lot as its simply not possible to "turn off" thinking the way we do. :D But you get used to it and adjust a little to the local customs.
