I notice you begin your paintings with a pencil drawing from your reference photos. I would LOVE to know how you go about doing this drawing. Like, do you trace it, use a grid, eyeball it, etc? Most artists on KZbin don’t discuss their initial sketch process and I’m intrigued by your paintings and drawings. I would love a video on this!

I am working on a rose and I got to a certain point and wasn’t sure I was approaching it correctly. I was, I just wasn’t being patient. I didn’t do the masking fluid, so I’ll need to be extra careful. I’ll take a look to see if I can toss some masking fluid on over my first layer. Thanks for sharing!

Barbara Woodall to start with you can print your reference, draw over it with a sharpie and transfer to your watercolor paper. Hope this helps 😊

Absolutely stunning! Can you please tell me why you prefer hot -pressed paper?
@RyanFallingUp4 жыл бұрын
Personally, I find that hot-pressed paper tends to be smoother in texture. It lends itself well to floral paintings because it allows you to maintain the delicate edges of petals and leaves in detail. I like to use cold-pressed paper for landscapey things.

Hi Louise,i am questioning my paper i am painting on,i noticed you use Arches hot press 640 gsm on your flowers, i am not getting a good flow,hard edges,i am using Arches hot pressed300gsm .Many thanks Toni.
@LouiseDeMasi5 жыл бұрын
Hi Toni, I use Arches 300gsm too. The only difference is the weight of the paper. Hard edges might be occuring where you don't want them because your paper isn't wet enough.
