And Elendil fled east with his TWO SONS. And the fruit of the White Tree and oh that's right, SEVEN PALANTIRI. Also can't help but notice Gil-Galad is there instead of in Lindon, in this place Elrond is meant to found. Straight out of the ass, this show has come.

In the Legendarium Celembrimbor was tortured by Saroun for the location of the 3 elven rings but would not give it up, He had the other 16 in a vault in Eragion. After he died, They used his body as a war banner.

"No. You are their prisoner." - dang, after the opening with king Durin and the Balrog I didn't think I could cry more, but Celebrimbor´s strength freaking broke me 😭 (Celebrimbor´s end was book accurate, including being pierced by a spear int the air) RIP Adar, I´ll continue to head-canon him as Maeglin (it makes the most sense). The duel between Galadriel and Sauron was such a mind-game! Also, seeing at the end Galadriel dressed in simple white, marking her first step of becoming the White Lady of Lotlorien was just perfect.

I think Durin's brother has been mentioned before but we haven't seen him. My guess is not many people heard that the king made Durin his heir again this season so the brother may have expected to be the next king since the end of the first season.

Celebrimbor's fate was much worse in the book. He was lashed to a banner and carried at the front of Sauron's army as he stormed the rest of Eriador. They were debating whether to do that scene in this but they didn't end up doing it as they thought it would be too upsetting on top of everything else you see him go through. Him being pinned up with the spear is a sort of homage to it. Charles Edwards did make a joke about it though, the night before the last ep aired he put a picture of Banner Butter on his IG his story 😂

@38:25 Halbrand is in the books, Tolkien just didn’t give Sauron a given a name for parading around as a king of men. The directors did say Galadriel was in love with Halbrand. Notice how they both experience bloodlust in battle. Isildur is bonded with his horse in battle. Blood binds. So the show runners equated the bloodlust of Galadriel and Halbrand with lust. You’re right, it would have never worked out, and I am so excited for Celeborn to contrast Sauron’s horrid manipulation. 😊

The closest Sauron ever came to appearing as a man, he was seen by the Númenoreans as "Upon that ship which was cast highest and stood dry upon a hill there was a man, but greater than any even of the race of Númenor in stature...And it seemed to men that Sauron was great; though they feared the light of his eyes". Númenoreans like Elendil were EIGHT FEET TALL. And "light from the eyes"? In Númenor he "defied the lightning and was unharmed; and in that hour men called him a god". And after Númenor he never seemed fair again. When he was the sorceror Necromancer, definitely not a Man, as without something like a ring, none of the Men were ever sorcerors. "Halbrand is in the" what a load of garbage.

I hope not. It makes way more sense for the Dark Wizard to be one of the Blue Wizards that disappeared to the East (Rhûn). Tolkien himself wrote that they failed like Saruman did, but in different ways, and otherwise left their fates vague.

@@FrenchCelt If he had any kind of "new" or unique appearance about him, I'd agree. But he literally has all the mannerisms and appearance of Saruman. Holds his staff in much the same way. They haven't gone out of their way to make him in any way distinct from the other wizards like Peter Fran and Phillipa did with Radaghast. Same dislike of halflings. Like Gandalf, he has the same beard shape as his character, only darker, more grey, less white. Nothing at all "blue" about him. He even calls Gandalf "old friend" CONSTANTLY, to the point of "hey! You get it??? Do you get the hint we're making?" levels in the episode which is exactly how he greeted him when we first saw them meet in Fellowship. " But that is why you are here, is it not? My old friend." Gandalf: "Saruman."

@@YodatheHobbit I'd be very disappointed if they went that way...and then they would have to pull a Lex Luthor mind wipe on Gandalf like in the series finale of Smallville so Lex forgets that Clark is a Kryptonian and they can have the traditional Lex Luthor/Superman relationship going forward. Gandalf has to forget that Saruman was an evil Dark Wizard, otherwise it makes no sense that Saruman becomes the widely respected chief of the Istari and head of the White Council.
