If you truly are intro retro gaming, Sega and even Neo Geo are not “obscure” systems by any means. They have been in the news in recent years with the releases of their mini consoles. The Sega mini 2, for instance, was released a little more than a year ago. More than our old age, what missing the significance of Sega means is probably that retro-gaming has become a mainstream entertainment area as opposed to a specialized hobby. And that is both good and bad.

Right? The Atari Lynx & NEC Turbo Express were the obscure ones for the era. For good reason, too. Atari's library was just awful, it's still the only handheld I don't regret getting rid of. The Turbo Express was just too damn expensive but the thought of taking my TG16 library on the go was cool. The Game Gear paired a decent price with a great library and ended up nearly as mainstream as GB was at the time.

This was a great review. It went very in-depth on the pros and cons of the Cube without being super long and it was nice to see a review from someone who's taken the time to really set up their device. There's a software tweak to remove the anbernic launcher from the RG button but I don't know if it would fix the annoying behavior where it's switching the default launcher around. I have my RG Cube setup with Gamma's thumbstick fix, ES-DE configured, and the RG button launches ES-DE. I don't use an aftermarket launcher so that hasn't been a problem for me. I do have a little bit of light bleed but nothing noticeable to the naked eye. It doesn't bother me in real world usage.

Excellent video! This colorway looks fantastic, might be the best choice. Apparently Gamma has already fixed the sticks in software. Looking forward to any possible battery and performance boosts that Gamma may unlock down the line.

@@BenjaminFranklin-76 TheGammaSqueeze is a developer who made Gamma OS, custom firmware for Anbernic’s T618 devices that unlocked battery life and performance that had been left on the table. Currently working on the T820 chipset among other things. Hopefully my limited understanding allowed me a proper response, but someone else chime in if I didn’t explain that correctly.

Make the decision based on the 4:3 vs 16:9. Which systems do you plan to play? PS1 and earlier, go with Cube. PSP and Android titles + ports RP4

The NES and SNES are 4:3 systems. There's a difference between logical aspect ratio and display aspect ratio. They didn't have square pixels.

This is its final form though and the fastest SOC with that you really need because of the one by one aspect ratio.

When screen issue is fixed, when sticks are fixed, and when there’s a dock to charge and play co-op on tv I’ll gladly get this. Even if they just had a dock to charge while playing I’d consider it. Why did they make it so you couldn’t charge and play on a tv simultaneously? I really want to have that option but I might need to buy a separate device for that.

can I ask what emulator you are using to play DS games at the start of the video? I am using DraStic and everything works fine but I want to get rid of the on screen controls and make the top screen bigger than the bottom. any pointers/advice appreciated!

@bensparrow88 Im using drastic its same one you have. You just have to press the button menu button and turn off touch controls. You can also go into the settings a disable them. Also, you can change your layout in settings, too. You should see one that says edit layout and then you want to change it to the size of the next wallpaper. Its difficult to explain. Ill see if I can put together a guide for you

Great video! I'll point out a correction. It's roughly a 4" (3.95") square screen, not 3.5". It's a small mistake, so no worries. The RG Cube looks good, but I have too many handhelds as it is.

@leonboy9388 It's understandable. If you want, you can wait for all the early batches to be sold and then purchase one if you're still interested in a couple of months. That's probably safer. I've read LITNXT return policy and it's pretty good. It says they test everything before shipping, but personally, I've never had a defective unit from them, so I dont know for sure. Hope this helps

I personally really enjoyed the RGB30 and I really like added perks of a square screen. This is a much better version of that handheld. After playing 3DS & DS emulation I probably wouldn't care to switch over to the RG406P is that was out. To me, that's the biggesting selling point of this handheld because you can't play 3DS or DS well on many of these handhelds.
