I met you many years ago at the Barret Jackson show. Wheel Specialists, Inc. (where I work), was working the DuPont Registry booth. You had the Corvette with the Carbon Fiber wing that you could actually stand on. You likely don't remember because it was so many years ago, but I've always remembered that.

Mad respect for Angie. She reminds me (spiritually) of Marisa Tomei's character in My Cousin Vinny! An encyclopedia. I grew up as an expat in SEA (Singapore / 20 years). I live in Miami but my Father never left Asia and moved to Manila a couple of years ago. He had offices there in the 70's and 80's. A Frenchman that used to rally professionally. He will be elated to see the level of vehicle craftsmanship that is happening in his new adopted home. Hats off to you both. Thank you, Larry for going beyond Japan to show how far Asia has come, as it pertains to car culture.

Car culture in the Philippines is amazing. Because of the historical influences from both the US and Japan from WW2 and modern influences from Hollywood and social media it’s quite literally the melting pot of EVERYTHING. You can find purists, modders, hot rods, vintage, modern, heck even motorbike mods. And because of the pre-existing culture, most people drive for fun and not to cause trouble (that’s not to say that immature rowdy drivers don’t exist but I was definitely surprised by the motorbike culture here in North America). Much like most people have pointed out, no single video could cover every facet of the car culture back home but I’m glad to see that it’s getting even more recognized. I hope Larry could connect to someone from my hometown, Cebu, to cover the Touge culture (both cars and motorbikes) in Busay/TCH area.

Yeah I think people tend to forget the Philippine car scene
@jdlnz94847 ай бұрын
@@djsthemetereman I think i low key like that they do. When people overlook stuff, it makes finding them even more interesting. I like how car-dudes from back home find something (like a movie or a show) cool, build a car out of it, build a community with other like-minded people, and they basically keep “old trends” alive. Tokyo Drift never got old, Initial D never got old, car meets are still how they sort of were (more or less) from the 90s and early 2000s (golden age of tuning), jeepneys are now hot-rods, motorbike crews of different bike-types ride every Sunday, theres always something new or preserved to find out. Plus we acc have cool places to get to, take your crew on a “ro-ro” and boom! New beaches, new sights, new food to try!

Angie's truck in insane!! I wish I could see that in person. It totally pays homage to the lowrider scene even here in the usa.. back in the 90's it was all about shaved lines, door handles, roll pans & gas doors, having air suspension, & don't forget billet everything 😂 edit: never mind I just got to the 69' Mustang build 😯

We arrived in the afternoon not too long after Angie finished her burnout and I got to see the tire tracks on the road. I think there was still a smell of burnt rubber on the wind, wish I had gotten to see it in person! The purple truck is amazing, I've gotten to admire it a few times up close and personal. I'm really happy with the work being provided by Classic Speed on my 1989 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 convertible, which you can see on the lifter beside her Camaro. We were invited to the open house Classic Speed held, and are excited to be clients of their business.
