The idea of a cult’s leader being unable to get medical help because their followers wouldn’t allow it due to how they had been programmed is absolutely wild. It would make for a really fascinating story.

Crestone resident here. You described it very eloquently but also a bit inaccurate. There are many religious and spiritual centers here but there are even more scary, questionable and downright crazy people. The area is tragically under the curse of drug abuse and unfortunately that is what you will notice most here. Amy and her group fit in well in that regard as she was a raging alcoholic. Her teachings were not accepted by the residents here and they were asked to leave many times. The Hawaiians had it right when they forced them out. Trouble seemed to follow them wherever they went, even in Shasta where Any supposedly died. The members were all arrested after her corpse was discovered but all the charges were dropped when cause of death could not be identified. I would love to say that Love Has Won made the town look crazy but the reality is that’s just the nature of the people here. I will be leaving the Valley next month and I will never look back. To all that will come to see the town after learning about it from this mess, be very careful. It is not the spiritual heaven it appears to be…

Thanks for revealing more details in your comment. Although I love hippie culture and have studied world religions/new age beliefs quite a bit myself, I have noticed that the mentally ill and perpetually addicted seem to flock to these types of places. Hearing about Krystal Reisinger’s r@pe and disappearance from Crestone (let’s face it: she was murdered) has made me think twice about stopping in to visit Crestone. It does seem like a mountain paradise of sorts (I personally love the Rockies- I used to live in Salt Lake City and I’d take road trips to Colorado during the summer), but even paradise can come with a price…Best of luck on your journey!!!
@michaelmiranda178 Жыл бұрын
I noticed the same pattern. When people reject diagnosis or cant get treatment for whatever reason- they seem to turn to all sorts of pseudo spiritualities- i think psychologists call it magical thinking. I think it’s because it’s easier to mold it to an individual’s specific delusions and symptoms, as opposed to traditional, more rigidly structured religions. I hope this gets studied more, and i hope we continue to expand our understanding of mental health, so that these toxic feedback loops become a thing of the past. So tragic!

As a lifelong colorado mountain resident, yes, lots of weird stuff going on there. I do love to visit crestone to hike, see friends, visit the ashram and hot springs. But I've also heard such crazy things from friends about what goes on there. The whole valley has a very intense vibe. I don't think I could live there
@connieh958110 ай бұрын
I hope you made it out of there and to a better place.

The shadowy underbelly of these "spiritual communities" are downright chilling. Having escaped other guru cultlike dangerous nonsense in other "vortex high vibe" valley communities, I'm glad you have the ability to get away too. I wish LE and Intel Agencies would do more to address cults and all the damages and mayhem they cause, before all the devistation takes hold.

Been to Crstone a few times and it's such a weird town. It's got some cool stuff though, their grocery store has some awesome meats and cheeses from the valley. The drive through all the religious centers is pretty interesting to see as well. The San Luis Valley as a whole is amazing though. I absolutely love it there. It's stunningly beautifully and has some cool places to see. I've also seen some eerie lights there too. It wasn't in the sky but on the ground level or so. Saw it half mile away in a little valley and figured it was a cabin, but finding it later on Google Maps show nothing there and no real trails to get to it.

Another awesome video on this channel. I’ve been obsessed by all things cult-related for years now (Heaven’s Gate; OSHO and Rajneeshpuram; the cult of Davidito, aka “The Love Family”; The Source Family and Father Yod; etc…). HBO is supposedly in production on a documentary about Amy Carlson and “Love Has Won”. I hope they can shed more light on this situation.
