Her voice has been lost to Parkinson's but before that she could and did sing just about anything. Rock, country, standards, light opera, mariachi and more. For a strong sampling of her ability I'd suggest: Someone to Lay Down Beside Me What's New La Charreada I'm a Fool to Want You Desperado Blue Bayou Long, Long Time But really anywhere you start will be a winner.

Absolutely another rabbit hole with Linda Ronstadt! 👍👍👍
@chrisd7047
@chrisd7047 2 жыл бұрын
At one point Linda had the number one spot on 3 different charts at the same time. Later on she was part of a power trio with Emmy Lou Harris and Dolly Parton. Linda Ronstadt is who just about every female rocker after her wanted to be. She has at least one album in Spanish (despite her name, she's of Mexican descent) and spent some time on Broadway performing Gilbert and Sullivan with Kevin Kline, a show for which Kline won a Tony. When Dolly sings someone's praises, the rest of us should take note.

Linda considered herself a ballad singer. But her music choices, songs and writers, brought great songs and songwriters to the forefront and to a new generation. Linda was one of few ladies (of 2) that could fill the big stadiums in 70s. She toured with the guys and they would take turns being the opener/headliner. Although she preferred to play the smaller more intimate settings.

In case you didn't know, Don Henley, Glenn Frey and Randy Meisner were Linda's backing tour band in 1971, after The Stone Poneys broke up (1965-1968) which had one hit song *Different Drum 1967* (written by Mike Nesmith of The Monkees). After that tour Don, Glenn and Randy left to form their own band which became The Eagles. Don was the drummer, Glenn was the guitarist and Randy the bassist of The Eagles.

You saw the great Jose Feliciano introduce Linda. His soulful singing and guitar styles can be found in his covers of "California Dreamin'" and "Light My Fire". He's a folk-inspired Puerto Rican musician whose family moved to the Bronx, New York City when he was five. He was born blind, and began performing at age nine. His simple, heartfelt song "Feliz Navidad" (1970) has become a Christmas classic.

American Bandstand and Soul Train were also on the must watch list! Shawn & Mel, some information about Linda Ronstadt. She is now 75-years-old. Linda Ronstadt Linda Maria Ronstadt is a retired American singer who performed and recorded in diverse genres including rock, country, light opera, and Latin. She has earned 11 Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy Award, and an ALMA Award. Originally, Linda was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. A re-evaluation in late 2019 changed her diagnosis to the rare brain disorder, progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).
