Gotta start looking at a kit to fix things like that when you're on the road. You were lucky there was a shop nearby. Always carry a tire repair kit and pump along with some basic tools

Carry some Tire Slime in a small tube its enough to get you to a tire shop. You should not ride more then 50 miles on a plug or patch, in fact no tire shops in the USA will plug tires due to liabilities if they do they are taking a huge liablity risk.

Hey Robin-san, I am a biker myself and live in Brazil, where we also get a lot of unpredictable rain. If I can give you some advice: *1)* Always have a moped repair kit on you so you can do small repairs by yourself if you need. Pretty sure you can find it online. *2)* I know it can sometimes ruin the spontaneity of the trip, but it's a good idea to look at the route on gps beforehand and mark on the way rest spots/cafes/gas stations/restaurants in case it rains and you can stop and chill, or in case you go through an area without gps coverage (although I think that's not an issue in Japan). *3)* Have good quality "rain mode" gear in a separate bag that's easy to access, so as soon as it starts raining you can park, open it in seconds and change quickly. Get a tarp for the moped (one made for it, with elastic band around it, sized for your moped). A good hint I could give you would be to use those backpack rain covers to protect your boards. And obviously have foot covers (those plastic bags that go around your shoes), waterproof pants and a waterproof jacket. It can be actually quite fun to drive in the rain if you are not wet and cold! Another tip would be to treat your visor with a waterproof spray so you can see better when it rains. *4)* Have a flexible schedule and flexible expectations. Always. The moped brings more comfort when going around, but it also brings a whole new universe of problems. Especially when it comes to weather, it's something you don't control, and can't control. So stressing about it only makes you frustrated. Be willing to spend one or two days at the same place, if needed, until it's more comfortable to start traveling again. Japan has that advantage of having very cheap and available accommodation around urban centers if you need, so don't feel bad about killing a day or two at an internet cafe if that's gonna make your trip more comfortable later. Wish you the best!

You still need to guard your lane - ride in the middle to the right side. If a car has legal space to pass then they can easily use the full opposite lane. Otherwise you will get cars who pass you even though there is no space in the other lane and if they juke back over too soon they will clip your bike. It gives you all that room to dodge THEM if they do that. If you are on the curb already you have no place to go. All you can do is slam the brakes and pray.

Problems are part of an adventure. Sure they are frustrating, and the set backs can be heart breaking, but you'll be so happy if you push through them to reap the rewards. Also, get a hammock and a tarp for the rain (Tarp gets strung across the top of the hammock) to save yourself from getting wet. A tarp will also work for your bike, but I'd recommend that you look at some gear to ditch instead of trying to protect stuff you likely don't use. However, if you do need everything, a trailer will likely be better than those storage boxes, so I'd see if that is doable.

yeah I get flat tires with my mopeds, trick is to carry around a rechargeable air pump, and a tire puncture kit, empty spray bottle (little one). When I used to back pack I would take a little bottle of dishwashing liquid with me, plastic and stainless steel plates, pots, etc. so a drop of dish washing liquid and water in the spray bottle and just do what the guy did, then you just "clean out the wound" with a tool (make the hole bigger) and stuff it with vulcanizing fluid and a rubber plug. I got a double puncture in the rear tire last time, didn't realize I had two until it went flat again (slow leak) so I re pumped until I got home and fixed it there. At least mopeds are easy to fix.

Okinawa is where I discovered yakisoba I was stationed there for a short time while serving in the Marines. As miserable as I was in the Marines, it was still a nice island to visit.

It makes the videos more interesting when things don't go as planned. So, don't worry about making a perfect video. Just video what is happening. That's life. Love your channel.
