Tbh I feel like both of them are taking the positive emotions they get from their other partner and transferring that emotional state onto the relationship with the less compatible partner I don’t think jimmy and Chelsea would like each other half as much if they hadn’t been dating other people who were feeding their cups. This ego boost allowed them to then go for their “prize” person without realizing that person isn’t compatible with them at all. Of course that depends on the parent and how good of a parent they are, but the parent can be in a relationship without the kid meeting that partner for a long time (mainly for the mental and physical safety of the child). But yeah, things like children need to be disclosed from the beginning when you're there with the intention to date.
