Late to the chat but Sharonda, my girl, if they make a black Love is Blind it will absolutely defeat the purpose of the show and also, plus size people are barely casted, let alone chosen, so in comparison that would be like us requesting there be a love is blind for thickies but again, that would defeat the purpose because that’s exposing at least one physical trait. The show would need a different name. Also, Brett and Tiff didn’t get a lot of screen time because they were a snooze. Which is really not a bad thing at all for them but they didn’t make good tv, which is why they’ll probably have the most longevity out of any of these couples, Cam and Lauren included. And not to take the all lives matter approach but there aren’t a lot of Asian men being chosen, or middle Eastern women. So, it’s one of those things that we can only hope gets better on the show but we cant create a love is blind for every marginalized group, I don’t think it would hit the same,

Can we talk about the toxic friendship between Lydia and Aaliyah? They are too much. Their conversations were cringy. There was a scene where the other black girls were across the room like WTF is going on. I low key wanted one of them to rescue Aaliyah from Lydia. Am I by myself on this?

This is not a relationship, it’s a master manipulaylay. 😁 It’s one sided, on both ends! Aaliyah had no idea! The way I’d feel played!!! Pieces coming together in slow motion like…🤯 I’d have had to leave, to keep from fighting! These… are the elements, of a good movie… I did not expect this outcome! And the way we all found out together 😮‍💨 straight villainy! LiB writers are not on strike?

Aaliyah needed to get tf away from Lydia. Their “friendship” was very weird. It just showed how being in that experience really can affect people, like u can fall in love with someone in 4 days and also have a whole best friendship formed as well. Lydia was definitely manipulative and giving single white female delusional

I think that being confined to only interacting with the same people for 2 weeks straight with no access to the outside world allows those types of friendships to happen. Their relationship was very weird to me as well though. Like this is not your best friend at all. Just another contestant on the show

I don't get why Sharronda is so adamant for a Black Love is Blind. There are many Black dating shows on other channels. Also, can we stop wanting to pair up Black women with Black men. Black men aren't the default choice for Black women. It's also interesting how Asian women aren't well represented on the show but no one think it's because they are undesirable so why is this logic only applied to BW. Finally Cameron mostly dating BW doesn't mean he had a fetish.

I was technically lobbying for A. Get men who are actually open to dating all races of women (Which I never believe they will do) so B. Was me wanting to see a show with Black people only where Black women would statistically have the chance of actually getting chosen for engagement. I didn't say Cameron had a fetish I said production would've never guessed that Cameron had a history of dating Black women

I absolutely get what Sharonda is saying about the Black men that are casted on these dating shows. The reality is, the Black men casted usually pick non-Black women. Even in situations where they can’t physically see them, they pick up on social and cultural cues that identify the women as Black, then they are able to eliminate those women from their line up. And even in cases where Black men have had a history of dating Black women, it’s like when they get on these shows they choose to pursue non-Black women as they now have proximity and access to them where they may otherwise have not.

She’s right but how would you truly vet that in casting. Most people won’t say their racial preferences and most would lie and say they don’t care how they look. Especially for a show like this which is supposed to transcend the physical. It’s truly a tough aspect to vet.
@halioj
@halioj 11 ай бұрын
@@Daveyjonesvi I completely agree that it’s a hard thing to vet. Unfortunately there’s really no solution to it, which is why Sharonda keeps emphasizing the need for an all Black cast or version. The problem is, I doubt they’ll ever do that and even if they go to African countries (like LIB South Africa or Nigeria), I think they’ll find a way to still predominantly cast non-Black and/or light skin people (but mainly women).

Sis, respectfully, it is dead wrong to suggest they should segregate. This notion is problematic. I’m with Tate on this one. You would not be able to call it “Love is Blind” any more. I’m Afro-Latina and my husband is White. We met online, after we divorced our former spouses. He was married to a white woman before. I was the woman of his dreams (based on my character, and yes, my looks and race/ethnicity) and he didn’t even know it UNTIL he met me! Segregation is NOT the solution, under any circumstances. The premise is not to be considered as a life partner, based on race/ethnicity only. “Love is Blind” to differences in culture, history, interests, lifestyles, etc. Can we just stop making everything racial??? Massive props to Tate for thinking critically and pushing back on this notion.

Agreed. I really wish black women would stop trying to force a situation where black men choose them. Stop chasing men that don’t want you. Stop concocting scenarios where they’re being “tricked” into choosing you. Once they realize, they’ll just find an excuse out of it. Or they’ll stick it through and mistreat you because you’re not what they really wanted. You don’t see black men ANYWHERE coming up with ways to exclusively date black women. The ones that want you, will pursue. Leave the rest to the white women they want.

Pertaining to your discussion about black women not being chosen by other men, I literally just saw a white man confirm that Miriam is his number one pick on the show this season and there were probably more instances of that happening which weren't aired on the show. So I do think black women are being chosen and we're being chosen in real life too. But I also agree that there are a lot of black men showing up in reality shows who don't want to date within their race, however it's not anything I am upset about personally, I think people should date who they want to, just don't trash black women as you do it.

White men love Black women and cherish them especially when they get serious. Period. Black women are valued just as much as everyone else romantically. Black men sometimes want their women not to be confident because they arent. But where there's a sista, there's tons a white guys willing to choose her and cherish her for life if she wants.

Age is not an indicator of emotional maturity. It's not an indicator on whether a marriage will succeed or fail. My parents were 24 and 30 when they got married and were happily married for 20 years. My old roommate and her husband got married at 19 and have one of the healthiest relationships I've seen. On the other hand I have relatives 30+ yrs old who are emotionally immature have no business being married yet. It's not fair to put people in a box just because you feel like *you* were young and immature.
@Miranda-gi9fx

I agree it's not always a factor, but generally it is. Exception is not the rule. And beside maturity, usually a 30 years old woman and a twenty something man are at different stage in life and wants to move at different pace.

Of course Jackie is the one Latina girl of last season but then they kind of just copied and pasted her with Lydia. It’s just kind of weird to me how there’s not any other race at all not just black versus white but Asian, Mexican, middle eastern, like shit Native American like you know what I mean it’s like they pick one person to represent the entire race every season.. in my eyes not everything is black or white

Milton on the show said that he thinks he is going to die young so why is it impossible for him to want to get married young. Also, if there is an issue with age gaps, then Netflix should have a higher age range for the people participating. If a 24-year-old has a fulltime job, paying his own rent, paying his own bills, paying taxes, why is that person not able to make their own decision about marriage and wanting to marry someone older than them. I understand what you're saying Sharronda. The general viewing public needs to see representation of love between black couples on mainstream media. These shows make it seem like black men don't ever choose black women, and that obviously isn't true in the real world. Love is Blind isn't quite the right fit for an all black cast since the premise is that love is color-blind, but a similar show could be created for mainstream media where the cast is primarily (if not entirely) all black

There have been several couples where the woman is 24 or 25 with an older man and no one bats an eye or even notices lol. 24 is not 12. That’s a grown adult. Like we have to stop infantilizing men just because they’re under 35. Only in the U.S do we regard these grown men as “kids.” Any other country they would be like “he should’ve been married with kids by now” lol

In Season 1 reunion it was revealed Lauren was sought after by a lot of the guys So I think they got the casting the most right that season where people really did want to know if love is blind. So I still prefer Lauren and Cameron’s romance over the Brown’s because it was FANTASTIC promotion for a darker skinned black woman who was ADORED by her pick/future husband, super feminine, and desirable. I like the Browns obvi but my issue with their courtship as it played out on tv specifically was that Brett was too stoic and Tiffany seemed a little too grateful to be picked. So when comparing the two, as a black woman I prefer the more reserved and pursued Lauren. Doesn’t matter Cameron was white. Because I think as black Women we need to see more of that on screen. So I will reiterate Tiffany got picked but her dynamic as it played out on screen was not as meet cute as Lauren. Period.

Tait you’re making more sense than Sharronda on the race issue. It sounds like her issue not something that LIB has to fix for her. LIB African would solve nothing for African Americans. A black version defeats the point- Lauren and Camron wouldn’t exist. They should make it blinder- take away names, ages etc

Okay Tait's analysis of the flag is off. It'd be different if he wore it once without thought, but he's making a point of it, and he even coached one of his dates about it, so he's proving a point. Mind you, I wouldn't even forgive wearing it once low key but to each their own.

LOL Lydia meant Uche didn't choose her. She just wanted to continue in the process and got with Milton. Funny how norms change. Tait thinks it's insane to get married at 24? I'm a little older than ya'll and I've seen a shift. Many of my friends got married around that age. In fact I had one friend who didn't come to my wedding because she was a bridesmaid in another person's (age 24) wedding the same day😂. The thing about these shows when marriage is the 'goal' they don't pick people with kids (rightfully so) so...the pickings get slim as they go up in age. This season is kind of a dud IMO.

You have to be willing to compromise. There is no perfect person. Both people will need to adjust. The main thing is to put your to arm around his waist, that you want to walk with him and hold his hand. Kiss him each time you see him or say goodbye. Make him think he's the best in the world.

Some 30-year-old who can't share their emotions might come from a place of trauma. Not sure why you think that is unheard of for someone in their 30's who can talk about their emotions. Some people are just guarded and don't just want to spill their emotions with a literal stranger.

Taylor was probably directly asked by the producers what she thought about JP's looks. She mentioned his teeth in passing and immediately dismissed the thought because she liked him and had already moved past it. Irina could not shut up about how weird and unattractive and cartoonish Zach was and she told him that to his face. They are not the same. Also, flag notwithstanding, JP has a republican face. I don't know how else to explain it.

1:41:34 production isn’t seeking people that are white-centered. People ARE white-centered. Most black men want to date white, most Asians want to date white, Deepti and Shake only dated white. Why are we pretending like these people are so hard to “find.” They’re everywhere. And if they want to date white, LET THEM. Sharonda if you keep trying to concoct situations where black men choose black women, all they’re going to do is MISTREAT those black women. If black men want black women, they’ll pursue them. They don’t have a problem pursuing white because white is what they want. Let them have it. Otherwise the outcome will be what Shake did to Deepti. Didn’t matter how well they connected, didn’t matter that he admitted how amazing she was, eventually her race was an issue for him. He kept bad-mouthing her looks to other people, describing her as his “aunt.” Why? Because he wants a WHITE WOMAN. Let them go. Why pursue men that don’t want you? They’ll only abuse you for it.

1:44:00 There's different kinds of Black. Genetically speaking Lydia is just as Black as Bartiste; neither is dark skinned but they both have African ancestry and melanin. Her Black just come from a different part of the US and speaks Spanish. Uche is genetically Black and culturally Nigerian-American. Bliss is Black Diamond was Black American (even though she look about the same skin tone as Lydia.) I always thought Iyanna was Asian and adopted byt Black people. I get what both are saying here but we have to be accurate with how we label people culturally and genetically because people will get it confused. I agree that they should separate the casts by CULTURES, not necessarily by racial makeup cause people be mixed anyway and race just determines what you may look like. Culture can determine religious practices, musical tastes, family etc. They can have a casting for people of African descent and ancestry so you have Jamaicans, Dominicans, Nigerians, Black Americans, etc. and do the same for other groups.

Very. A white man liking a black women doesn’t equal fetish lol. And a black man NOT liking a black women doesn’t equal conspiracy. There are plenty of white guys that don’t care about race when dating and there are plenty of black guys that do, and may prefer dating white women. That’s the reality. Don’t chase men that don’t want you. And be open to men that do.
