This song is Robert's growing sarcastic cynicism with the LA cocaine/drug scene and the rock scene in general. You can hear the weariness in his voice. He said it was a dig at someone he knew and cared about and how she was getting deeper and deeper into drugs. It's in the lyrics; "And she said, 'Don't you want it, don't you want cocaine, cocaine, cocaine?'" and later in the song when he sings "On the balance of a crystal, paying through your nose." you can hear a loud snorting sound. Robert called this a "sneering" track and admitted it was a warning to the people around him to start taking care of themselves. Robert was clearly feeling some dissatisfaction and disillusionment during this time. This wasn't played live until the O2 in 2007 with Jason Bonham on drums.

The live version from the O2 reunion in 2007 (with Jason Bonham on drums) is the only time this track was ever played live in concert by (mostly) Zep.

Presence means Zeppelin is a mighty presence and that statue on the table is called the object and the object is like the Ouija board to summon the music master

In my top 3 lz songs for a while now. Since 72...Ledhead, that is Thank you so much for doing Presence. LZ III, Presence and TSRTS have been my favorites for about the last 3 years. Presence cd has been the only cd in my truck for 4 yrs lol Still have my pink 8-track of Presence...9th grade...it freaked me out because it was so different, so i didn't listen for about 3 months. Had to retune, i guess...lots of Mexican brown frown and then sinsamilla arrived. Boom.

Check this one out from The Celebration Day Concert. Robert introduced it to the audience by saying it was the first time they performed it live. Killed it. 👈

Seems like Plant is the only 70's rock star who tried cocaine and was like, nope. Not for me. Good for him.

Hmmm, I always felt that Zep music was not reflective of a time period. It still stands up today.

If you listen closely in the final verse, you’ll hear the snort-a reference to cocaine, I’m sure….

This is their most controversial album because it was too much of a switch to another different vibe with a wtf album cover that nobody understood with some black thing sticking out of the middle of the table that hardly any one knew what it was about at the time ,Obelisk ... Hipgnosis designed this and a lot of other esoteric album covers for many bands and solo artist ...The vast amount of negative critical opinions it got over the years has leveled out since it came out anyways ..
