Stella Adler was one of my instructors in grad school at UNC Chapel Hill and in New York afterwards. She called me one of the greatest talents she had ever known!

That was nice of her to credit you that way. Did you ever appear in films or on stage?

She said the same thing to me, she’s just being nice.

Wow, Stella Adler! If you haven't heard of her, you've certainly seen the amazing talent that she has inspired through her School of Acting. Great film, thanks

What a great Romcom. The writing is witty and the story turns in directions you don t anticipate. The apt Super with one word scene, loved it. Late 1930s.

You know it's a comedy when Franklin "light in the loafers" Pangborn is cast as a character to pick a woman in a beauty contest...and one of the contest's prizes is a trip to Europe in 1937...maybe to Poland or Germany!! Thank you for posting this gem.

Paramount was still struggling at this point presenting depression-era comedy, but this is a good one, like a stage play. John Payne is such a natural in parts like this. Even a fuzzy copy like this is enjoyable. If you like this, watch, "A WOMAN OF DISTINCTION" with Roz Russell.

They were saved by comedies with May West

@@ausbrum You are right. But Mae West saved the whole movie industry. People had stopped going and she got them interested again.

John Payne was such a handsome man. And quite the flair at making ice cream sodas. 🤗🍨
