The exhale scene with his mom is just the best. So beautiful.

I said it before and I’ll say it again, Simon deserved better friends. The name Simon uses, Jacques is from the game Jacques a dit which is basically the French version of Simon Says.

It's still amazing how Bram and Lyle's actors all came out after Love, Simon and Cal's actor was already out (I think) when the movie was released. And when Nick Robinson (Simon) watched the movie with his family, his brother came out to them. 🥰🥰🥰

I remember writing my English lit paper on the book of this when I was 17. I may not watch this film as often as I used to but my god does the scene with his mum still make me cry. The pure emotion of that scene just reminds me of when I came out to my mum, such a beautiful moment.

I love how Nick's brother found the courage to come out while he was doing this movie. I think if a movie or series has this kind of encouraging effect on anyone, its a gem.

I liked the movie after watching it for the first time. But then I read the book and now I have kind of a love/hate relationship with the movie. Because the book is So. Much. Better! Simon and Blue's relationship is sooo cute in the book. And the reason why Blue didn't want to reveal his identity is also different and fits the story more.

I love this movie a lot, I've watched it so many times! I also enjoyed seeing your reactions to the movie. I recommend checking out the spin-off Love Victor as well! It takes place after all of the events that happened in this movie.

Thank you! I definitely want to check out Love, Victor eventually.

Loved that they were in that show too, even if only on the side, but to get a little years later follow up felt great.

Simon’s friends are kind of shit too. I mean I get that what he did was shitty but there is no way I would stand for anyone bullying and harassing my friend like that and not do anything. To just sit there while that was happening was low.

In the book, the blonde kid, Alex, though not Blue, turned out to be gay as well. He even asked out Simon. Simon turned him down because he wasn't Blue.

Always loved this film. Love how you predicted who blue was so casually, so early!

if i remember correctly in the book this blonde kid, who you thought was blue, actually was bisexual and i'm pretty sure want to ask simon out so maybe you just feel this vibe from him

This has been one of the first mainstream queer movies ever made, and contrary to Broke Back Mountain the first actual happy ending one. Its like the Heartstopper series just for the generation before.

While this is one of my favourite movies ever, I highly recommend the book. Simon VS. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. It's quite a different story in a lot of ways. For example, Simon doesn't ask Bram to out himself in public at the end. Becky Albertalli was harrassed for being a "straight woman" writing about things she had no right to, nevermind that she was a psychologist specialising in lgbtq+ issues. Because of this, she felt forced to out herself as bisexual before she was ready. This movie and the book before it have often come under fire for being unrealistic because of how happy they are. Which really sucks, because as a gay teen I related to Simon pretty strongly, and it felt like all the critics were saying your experiences as a queer person aren't valid unless you've faced homophobia and rejection from your friends and family. Like, I understand that I'm lucky, and I'm grateful for that, and I feel for everyone who isn't, but being lucky doesn't make me any less gay. Not that I'm saying you're doing that, you're obviously not, but your comments reminded me of that whole thing.

When I watched this film for the first time, I did not expect that it would become one of my favorites. ☺️

I never get tired of this movie. It did pretty well at the box-office too with the younger demographics. The dad-son scene was a tearjerker for a lot of gays who never got that.

An amazing underrated film. I recently watched this and the series Love Victor, which I recommend to check out. I really always love the mystery angle of Simon figuring out who Blue was; it reminds me of Cyrano de Bergerac and Cinderella. Also loved the scene with Simon and his mom as it such a moving scene. 💻🥰🤔🤫🫶🏳️🌈
