Carole King's Tapestry spent 318 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, including 15 consecutive weeks at number one in 1971. This made it the longest-charting album by a female solo artist for over 40 years, until Adele's 21 broke the record in 2017.

"You're so Far Away. Doesn't Anybody Stay in One Place Anymore? It Would Be So Fine to See Your Face at My Door. But it Doesn't Help to Know That You're So Far Away" That is another huge hit from Carole's historic album "Tapestry" which stayed on the Billboard chart for over a year back in 1972.

With the number of award winning songs she has written for various artists, I can almost guarantee that you've heard at least one of them! She is one of the greatest songwriters of the 20th century. I was drawn to her piano skills! I've played piano for as long as I can remember. And I thought with enough practice i could be that great! Well, that was 45, 47, years whatever, it was a long time ago and I'm STILL practicing!

As a songwriter and composer, Carole King plays the piano. Soft rock = adult contemporary pop. King definitely infused elements of jazz, folk, and rock in Its Too Late as she does with most of her songs. If you check out her song "Corazon" you'll hear Latin influences on that track.
@ruthlafler56222 ай бұрын
Yeah, I would call this folk-rock, a genre that was much more prevalent at tge time.

Carol King was a prolific songwriter. True story: Carol was walking down the street in New York City when she saw a producer she knew passing her on the busy sidewalk. They waved and she passed him by and suddenly heard him calling her. She stopped and he yelled,” Carol write me a song for Aretha. Something about a natural woman.” She wrote the song Natural Woman. It became a huge hit for Aretha Franklin. She was that great of a songwriter that producers have that much faith in her. She was a treasure.

Carole King grew up in a fertile musical environment. Burt Bacharach, Dionne Warwick... the Brill Building inhabitants. The women wrote, "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" when she was fourteen! When ya got it, ya got it. Tapestry is an epic album...every cut is fantastic. Check out James Taylor's, "Fire and Rain"... similar genre. King and Taylor were good friends. Nice reaction of a massive classic!❤

There's a club in West Hollywood called the Troubadour , It's where artist went to try to be discovered , That's where Carol king ,Carly Simon , James Taylor , Elton John , Don Henley , Just to name a few who got their start there ! It's still there to this day , I used to live 3 blocks from there , It was cool to walk past it knowing its history ! That's the first place Elton John played in August of 1970 !

Most saxophone solos are played on "alto saxophones" or occasionally "tenor saxophones". This song featured a "soprano saxophone" which is fairly rare. It almost sounds like a clarinet due to its similar size. I love the instrumentals on this song, along with great lyrics and melody.

This woman is even beloved by the Metal community even the guy's in Metallica and Slayer and even old school bands like Judas Priest and Iron Maiden all love her music. I believe James Hetfield once said if you listen to her music can hear Metal riffs in her music, just pick a song any song and you'll hear a riff you've heard in at least 1 metal song somewhere.

One of the most prolific sone writers of the 20th Century. Some of her earlier works, some co-written with Gerry Goffin, JM Boy - you might have heard some of these, or heard OF some of these: "Go Away Little Girl" (Steve Lawrence) "Oh No Not My Baby" (Maxine Brown) "Take Good Care of My Baby" (Bobby Vee) "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman" (Aretha Franklin) "Up On The Roof" (The Drifters). JMBoy - you'll be pleasantly surprised if you take some time to listen to maybe four or five other Carol King songs.

I thought this was such a great no fault break up song. Sometimes there isn't a bad guy. As you say love is a choice not the "feeling". I wish my first hubs & I knew that. We got back together many years after our our divorce. We were friends first but got caught up in what we thought love and marriage should be like (honeymoon) rather than being grateful for how comfortable we were.
