You've Got a Friend " by James Taylor. Written by Carole King

It's important to know that Carole King never considered herself a singer. She was a songwriter for decades and wrote songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s. Hit after hit after hit for so many stars and finally they asked her to record her own music. She's a musical genius.

Carole King and Neil Sedaka were writing hits at the age of 14 (they were friends) and they just got better and better the older they get! Love em. Haven't heard this for years, and I remember all the words. Brilliant.

She wrote dozens of monster hits, including "You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman" for Aretha Franklin and "Up on the Roof" by The Drifters. She's had a few hit albums of her own including "Tapestry" from 1972 which is one of the best selling albums of all time. It stayed on the charts for the entire year.

The early hit songs she co-wrote with Gerry Goffin(lyricist), her one-time husband, including the 2 you mentioned. Three of their songs are on the album Tapestry.

Carole King and her husband Gerry Goffin were songwriters and wrote for a lot of people. Their daughter, Louise Goffin, put out an album back in the late 1970s.

My Favorite from Carole King,. She gets right to the heart of human relationships, add James Taylor on guitar is a time capsule we cherish these days. Great choice.

Carol King wrote songs for many groups and singers. She was writing a song called locomotion in her apartment. She heard her babysitter singing the song in another room. Carol asked Eva if she would sing the song and she would accompany her on the piano. Carol King chose her Babysitter Eva to sing on the recording. On August 25, 1962 Little Eva from Belhaven North Carolina had the number one record in the country.

Carole King is the master lyricist, capturing what others can’t quite express in a relationship❤😢😊

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I would take issue with that statement. Carole King has written some great lyrics, for sure, most of them on the Tapestry album. However, it should be acknowledged that on the vast majority of the songs for which she's most renowned, the lyrics were written by her songwriting partner Gerry Goffin. They are one of the greatest songwriting duos ever; Carole King's individual claim to fame is as a composer, rather than a lyricist.

Ok, lets be honest, Carole King was never a top vocalist but was always a top writer. Others took her songs to heights she could not. But even when she sings her songs you can't help but be moved by the soul in her voice. I know she isn't "insert name here" but she is top 5 for me all time.
