Didn't realize I have so much of this in me! I went to a liberal arts college and studied politics & philosophy, so the academia style befits me. and I just realized the brand Cath Kidston I've been wearing since 18-ish, *is* the quintessential English countryside😅 I wasn't even consciously mimicking it, I just liked their prints. I quite like the fact that I can pull off old money elements well, despite not being rich 😅

I can really relate to the classic essence personality - being practical, logical, and reliable. At work, I tend to wear corporate dresses, usually in solid colors with no patterns. I prefer styles with a slight waist definition, not too structured or restrictive, but enough to look formal and put-together. I like how these dresses help me appear professional, well-groomed, but not intimidating or overdressed. My challenge, though, is figuring out what to wear on casual days. I live in a very hot and humid area, so I avoid long pants, skirts, sweaters, and jackets since I tend to sweat easily. How can I maintain the classic essence while staying comfortable in this climate? Also, after watching your video, I now understand why I struggled to wear many accessories at once - like stacking rings, layered necklaces, and multiple earrings - without feeling like it looked off. It makes sense now, considering my essence. Thank you for the great insight! It was really eye-opening for me.

Glad you liked the video! For casual wear, check out my videos on Dramatic Classic, it might give you some inspiration there on the types of shorts, dresses and tops that are more hot weather friendly and a bit more on the casual side. If not, I would just focus on fabric and the overall put togetherness, which is achieved by balancing your top and bottom always & waist definition (not waist emphasis), which simply means avoiding really flowy or unconstructed or too rigid outfits. Hope this helps a bit!

Thank you. You explain things so well and it really resonated with me. I definitely have a percentage of this essence and I need a bit of that structure/polish minimalism to make my outfits complete.

Thank you! And thanks for watching! Sounds like you figured out your essences ;)

@myleneamelie You are welcome. It was not easy but I have a pretty good idea of what they are without being verified. Definite learning experience and explained what I have been drawn to and why certain things didn't work in my wardrobe.

This is the essence I dressed for during my teens and twenties because I had, as you say, confused tailoring and moderate looks with structure and sharp edges. I ended up looking constrained. That the style advice from Nina Garcia and co. was making the rounds at the time probably didn't help. I still love certain elements--minimalist styling, a well cut trouser or suit jacket, a foundation of basics tweaked to the taste of the wearer, a curated palette that doesn't clamor for attention like a fussy toddler. Having said that, I lack sufficient levels of classic essence to justify dressing like Babe Paley or C.Z. Guest. Great video!

Totally! And I find too that minimalism can find it's way into a few essences and also could just be personal preference that isn't rooted in an essence, all valid! Thanks for watching :)

@@myleneamelie Minimalism deffo expresses itself well in the dramatic and ethereal essences, for sure. I would also add that including a minimalist approach to one's essences doesn't always or necessarily mean small dainty jewelry (for example). If anything that sort of jewelry looks off on me; I'm better going with one or two pieces that have some heft. Earrings and a watch are great "anchor" accessories, I think--my main concern is that they feel and look good to wear on a regular basis. And thank you!

Love this, would be great to hear your point of view on how to create balance, everybody talks about it but we need practical tips! you have such good way to explaining things that I think you'll be able to explain it well,

That's a great idea! I'll add it to the list! I'd like to tackle flesh types in depth, vertical lines and then yes absolutely would love to discuss balance, as it's so important. Thanks for watching!

Love your videos!! Please please pleeeease do some videos on body types with all the essences. For instance: flamboyant gamine with natural essence, romantic essence, ethereal essence, etc. And how to dress accordingly (maybe what to pay attention to, if it changes the recommendations from Kibbe, etc)
@myleneamelieАй бұрын
I am definitely planning on doing more videos about the essences within each body type, you’re definitely not the only one who’s asking! ☺️ All happening in the New Year

Im a theatralical romantic and look in classic clothes with print, a bit opulent and royal themes very beautiful. I have curvy blonde hair and the coat matches in color my summer type and physical form. Actually as non classic i look more dramatic and value looking instead of unattainable. I look like a woman earning money and knwoing how to dress well. I think too much classic clothes look steril and unlively. Classic people are lively too. What is elegance without sensing and feeling pleasure and good material feeling?
