I read somewhere once: "People do not leave jobs, people leave people." The environment in which we work in determines how we feel about the job.

Absolutely! I've done it a few times. The work was solid but the managers, even top level execs were not. I've always been a risk taker. I grew up that way. Ask questions even if they could be construed as dumb But in doing so I believe you also need to create/develop a "thick skin". Not all people are kind everywhere. Don't let their attitude affect your journey. You may have to work with them or for them but they should never have any bearing on your mind-sate. I know it's easier said than done but I've been working on this for many years! Be the kindness you want to see and pity the hateful people because they are technically mentally ill.

The art of leadership! Leading from behind. Creating a trusting environment for the people you work for, not who work for you. Thank you for the perspective. I love your work Simon! How can an employee promote change in his environment within a company he loves without coming across as power hungry. My goal is to move up and crate change. I want to do this with good intentions and with the support of my superiors. Thank you for your perspective in advance.

I just wanted to say how much I appreciated your talk.. It was incredibly helpful and full of so much truth. One quote in particular really stood out to me: "worthy jobs are not found, they are made and you can design and architect yours." Hearing you talk about designing and creating my own job gave me a sense of hope and empowerment. It reminded me that I have the power to shape my own future and create a career that aligns with my values and passions. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and insights. It's given me a new perspective and motivation to start designing the job and life that I truly want.

Love this, Simon! Great leaders know how to create an excellent work environment for their people. Employees will love their jobs if their environment encourages them and supports them to reach their maximum potential.

Most companies are not like this. They give you as much work as they can while paying you as little as possible. If you reach out for help and indicate that the workload is too much, you are putting yourself in a bad position where your job, career, or future is sabotaged.

Spot on obserbation I couldn't agree more, environment is critical to our experience, and businesses are starting to see the value in allowing, no facilitating it so that people can bring the authentic self to work.

Most managers think only about the businesses forgetting that for the business to be successful it mostly depends on the employees.

Caring about people matters. If you want to approach life in an "every man for himself" way, people will start to put obstacles in your way of success. You will often get the same things you give.

This Simon Sinek youtube feature of Love Your job is a relatable youtube video and helps increase my comprehension and understanding of the motivating message relating to the theme of this Love Your Job video with for instance the example of the story given relating to the person references who wears at least 2 job/career/professional hats.

Simon, on the topic of psychological safety and trust, an idea worth exploring... The growing trend of workers forming unions across verticals! - In some cases, in unexpected organizations. - A strident message from employees to organizations that their human needs as workers remain unfulfilled. Think your work could unearth gems that help individuals and organizations :)

I would love my job but the levels of unnecessary Bureaucratic leadership at these companies, make it very difficult as a mid-level manager to enjoy it. Middle managers are under appreciated even though senior leadership claims that we are important. Bottom line companies actions, not what they say.
