The high harmony is Miyako! This song is beautiful and gives me chills every time! It's so soothing. And then the solo section is the opposite, LOVE IT! One song you have to do is "Edge of the World" Live 2020! That song is a journey in itself! Thank you! 🤘🙂🐺

Yes, this song should definitely be the next choice, but if @Anastasia Luna wants to hear more harmony from Miyako, the 2019 show is the one. Otherwise it's fine. Both shows are great 🤘

@@dino.mozardien I agre. In fact that's the reason I prefer the 2019 concert: Plenty of wonderful Miyako backing vocals. Not sure why they dropped those in the later shows since they greatly enhance the songs.

To answer your question, it definitely sounded like Miyako with the high harmony. Her microphone and guitar are wired into the right channel in your headset and that’s where the high harmony part seemed to be coming from.

You simply MUST react to the live version of “Epilogue” from this concert to see Asami pour her very being into every word. It’s an achingly beautiful song. This was a superb reaction as always. And if the world had any sanity whatsoever “Empty Daydream” would top charts worldwide, it’s sooooo catchy. Ps. Here is a link. This could be broken into two reactions as both songs are completely different kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6rRn4t6m6qhpLs

I am convinced the reason Miyako looks serious most of the time is that while she is playing a song at the moment, she is writing new material in her head. She is a musical genius. All the members of Lovebites are amazing at what they do. Some of the most talented musicians in the world. But for me, Miyako is special. For more of Asami's amazing vocals, give Edge of the World a listen.

As you know, Miyako is a classically trained pianist. Every classical pianist that you see is always facing stage right (from the audience viewpoint) so that the top opening of the grand piano is facing the audience. So I imagine that Miyako is used to having the audience on her right and that's what she's most comfortable with. I don't know if that's the reason she's facing away from the singer, but it makes sense to me. This song is from their "Daughters of the Dawn" concert in 2019. Most of the other songs I've seen you react to are from their "Five of a Kind" concert in 2020. While I love the 2019 concert, I think the 2020 one is more polished with a better stage setup and slightly better audio. Just my opinion...
@randypeters366

That totally makes sense to me. The so-called Professional singer" /reactor should know this. Plus there's the fact that the piano would be sitting front stage for the entire concert. Your comment sounds 100% right.

There is footage of short haired Asami singing r&b before she joined. And if you wanna see more footage of drummer Haruna smiling, (which is in every still picture) I suggest We the United from the 2020 show. I don't know who was doing the high end vocals, but if the girls are mic'd in stereo you might be able to tell just from listening, and their place on stage. Miyako would probably be on the right speaker. I'd imagine it was her since she's classically trained as a pianist since age 3.

Thank you Anastasia for coming back to Lovebites. Love your perspective and insights. Re. Americans, I'm not sure why you moved to the US, but since the late 80's pop/rock/metal have been dying a slow and painful death. Most of the big stars here use material written for them by big songwriting factories. Everything is overproduced so talent doesn't matter any more. The industry here does everything possible to keep us isolated from all the great music happening in the rest of the world. Thank god for youtube, whatever its problems, this is the only way most of us can even know about bands like Lovebites. Americans are largely ignorant of Symphonic metal, Japanese metal, or just about anything else. Ok, sorry, rant over. Love you.

Rant away and totally agree. I am a big complainer of YT and many of it faults but there is one thing that they try and do right and that is put out music from around the globe. The real problem is the music companies buying the songs and then blocking everything they can and YT rolling over when they know copyright is total BS. Nonetheless I fell into J/Metal in the 1990's and it was hard as hell to get anything or find anything without a real effort. Now YT has made that easier and for that we all can be thankful. This is one of my favorite songs and how is this not on every teen's playlist and rolling around everyone's head as it is as catchy as hell, then again it is LIVE with no studio magic so maybe they don't anyone to know how bad their stuff really is!!

Anastasia, you are sooo good in expressing your enthusiasm for Lovebites! 🙏 😍🥰 And I agree wholeheartedly! 🙂🤘 Why a catchy as hell pearl like "Empty daydream" wasn't all over the charts is beyond my imagination! Doesn't speak for the whole music business, when I think of the usual "material" (can't say what I really would call that to keep it polite) that is dominating the so-called "Top" (! What an irony!!!) 100 all over the world. ;-)

Great reaction Anastasia! As others have stated below, I think you would really enjoy "Edge of the World" next. It's a more progressive song for them and one of my favourites. however, my absolute favourite is "epilogue" from the same concert as the one (Daughters of the dawn 2019). Epilogue is a super chill and a bit bluesy song where Asami's vocals are great. You can't go wrong with either of these suggestions.

Another awesome reaction. That's my favorite song from them, and this concert (Daughters of the Dawn) is also my favorite, just because of the amazing song line-up. From the technical point of view (quality of musical performance and and just video and audio recording, production etc.) the best is Five of a Kind. There's one thing missing in your reactions though. I would love if after the song you could pull up lyrics and just read thru them (if they're not embedded in the video of course). Their lyrics are always amazing and often very deep, and it's sometimes hard to understand them just by listening, especially when you're focusing on other things as well. Many people neglect them and they really deserve some attention. They often let you appreciate Lovebites songs more. Also i said it before and i'll say it again - if you want to see yet another, different side of them then check out Dancing with the Devil. It's like old school classic rock meets Mariah Carey xD So much fun! And one last thing, I just can't wait for video of their song Spellbound from the latest show Ride for Vengeance (Set the world on fire was from it) to land on KZbin so people can react to it. Yet another different sound of Lovebites, dual solos that will cause your jaws to drop on the floor and the cuteness overload from Miyako are just insane! :)

This particular video was taken from a DVD rip so the quality is not perfect the bluray version is far better in quality since it was filmed in HD and I have to agree with you about the stereotypes of metal and people assume metal singers have to growl…like what’s wrong with clean vocals? And as for Asami singing in her earlier days here’s a video of her singing in a night club kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmK5kKZmm896pdE and another song I recommend for LOVEBITES is their song Epilogue live From the same concert as this song (the only clip on KZbin has 2 songs in 1 video) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6rRn4t6m6qhpLs

Asami has been the only singer for Lovebites. Over the years they have become more sophisticated, more skillful and their management has also improved a lot; you can watch many videos on KZbin playing at small venues (in Europe) in their early days. These women are real musicians so they can play almost anything. This song showcases backing vocals, Asami’s vocals and Miyako’s piano playing. As some have already commented, I also suggest the songs “Epilogue” (live, “Daughters of the dawn” concert) and “Edge of the world” (live, “Five of a kind, Zepp Divercity, Tokyo 2020” concert). Another excellent live concert is “Wacken” (Germany, 2018); it was a dream that came true for them. Here is Asami before Lovebites: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmK5kKZmm896pdE Another one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5-siZeOmb6moZY

I have seen them several times and it is hard to believe that timid little voice in a club has grown into this Napoleon stage general who can thunder out over the glorious music behind her while also pouring her soul out in several ballads this band performs. She has worked her butt off more than we can ever really know to improve this much even with her talent.

Yes. I would say the subject video's time period the budget wasn't as higher as now. You can tell the dresses are probably off the rack from some shops in Tokyo area. The dresses they wear now are definitely custom made - you can tell because they all have personalized dress styles with gold fringes on all of them.

I WAS THERE - Mynavi Blitz Akasaka : on a freezing Tokyo evening, 27th January, 2019 !! Your's one of my favorite reaction channel of all. Not only are you beautiful but you're also witty and funny. But, I hate to be the one saying this, maybe you're a little "hasty" in making UNNECESSARY assumptions and comments like the show'd being old and low budgeted, their costumes and productions are , like poorer quality "because there's not much money" back in 2019. C'mon, how can you give the show such bad ratings !! Multiple times .... 5:55, 9:52, 12:15 etc. etc. The lights, sound, stage productions, camera & video quality were awesome. The small amazing crowd of fans are fantastic, it was a very exclusive event if I remember correctly. I bought the ticket in a shady ramen bar for 18000 yen !! But it was a great bargain, the experience was simply mind-blowing, the atmosphere, the sound and lightings, the whole production is fantastic and flawless 'JAPANESE QUALITY' : a level and class of its own !! No other countries can compare to what the Japanese can do, not even tiny bit close !! And the Band .... OMG !!! LOVEBITES is the BEST METAL BAND right now and UNTOUCHABLE - the GOAT playing LIVE SHOWS !!!! LOVEBITES RULES .... LOVEBITES FOREVER !!!!

Watching the video several times I'm sure it was Miyako who sang the higher harmony part. I saw Miho step back from her mike and Miyako was still singing the higher harmony by herself.

In an interview, Miyako said that she composed "Empty Daydream" in honor of J-pop (Kayoukyoku) in the 70's and 80's. Perhaps the Japanese aged 50 to 70 who listened to this song felt very nostalgic. In any case, she is certainly a genius.

I must confess: I’m one of those that when I hear “heavy metal” my first thought is blow of the roof screaming. Thank you for decoding this myth. Great reaction btw.

I'm not sure if you are referring to this but on the chorus, the backing vocals were all of them harmonizing (save for Haruna ofc). And when it changed to only one backing voice it was Miyako. Asami did ballet since she was small, and I think she even spent a couple of years in New York training. Correct me wolfpack if I'm wrong. That's why she writes most of the lyrics of the band. They formed at the end of 2016 but the band really started activity in 2017. This is from their second Bluray concert, Daughters of the Dawn. [2018] Battle in the East [2019] Daughters of the Dawn [2020] Five of a Kind [2021] Heavy Metal never Dies If you want a song big con progressive stuff with a lot of classical influences check Dystopia Symphony. It's from this year's EP so it seems there won't be a video soon, only audio. But it is another awesome Miyako track.

If I'm not completely wrong I think she was in LA to study Jazzdans and street dance, and after she returned to japan she started singing both as a R&B singer and as a background singer to a lot of bands, from where she realised that she wanted to explore the rock side of her, and my god is she rocking now......

@@erikjohnson1960 Oh yeah, did you see her yesterday? It is a totally different Asami from years ago, she is so confident and ruling that stage now. 4 years ago she was testing her feet in a genre that she didn't even know, nowadays she is a Heavy Metal queen.

@@Hadesillo OOOH yes, I saw them yesterday, and it was truly awsome... Yes she have really grown into that role... The whole band has grown with her.. Yesterdays show just showed us that they deserve to be the rulers of the metal/hard rock scene and beyond.. Yes she is a Heavy Metal Queen and if all the other bands don't shape up she will be the President of Heavy Metal....

Yes I really want to see this band become more and more well-known, but I don't want them to become mainstream popular, because I've seen so many great bands fizzle out because of that. Aldious in Japan is one example of that. They started out as hard, belting power metal, but as they got more and more mainstream popular, they ended up being pop with a metallic tinge.

You should try Tardigrade Inferno. Very interesting mix of dark cabaret, metal, black humor, extremely catchy music and lyrics and, of course, lovely vocal. Surprisingly high quality for the St. Petersburg metal scene, and for Russia in general. "Lovely Host", "Execution is fun" or "Underwater Valentine" would be perfect for first try.

There are several videos of Asami before LOVEBITES, you can react to them or watch them on your own time. Yes Japan has many amazing all-female metal bands right now. If you want to react to... I guess the opposite of LOVEBITES, you can react to another amazing band called NEMOPHILA. Their song "Dissension" or "Raitei" can be a starter. I love the classical vocal but, for me, there has to be continuity between the music and the vocal! Having a great voice when the music clashes is not my idea of good music! Saying that, I know is just an opinion, very open to disagreement, yet it is still my opinion! Asami has a great voice that fits perfectly to the music and that makes Lovebites a band of top caliber!
