Poor Miyako has had to listen to people here on KZbin for 6 years saying that she doesn't smile enough on stage. I've never read that male musicians are asked to do the same. Have a look at Miyako's own KZbin channel where she uploads her videos. There she laughs all day long and proves again and again that she has a good sense of humor. She is concentrated and focused when making music. That's it, that's all there is to it.

Miyako Watanabe is one of the most talented musicians on the planet. As long as she's composing and playing music, I'm good :) Strangely enough, she's way more animated when nerding out to gear on her youtube channel.

Miyako being stoic is a bit of a stage performance mixed with her actual persona. She's what in Japan is called a tsundere, someone who appears cool and stoic but cares very deeply. When you watch full concerts you can see her drop it as soon as the last notes hits. She's all smiles and waves. In recently she has become more emotive on stage but as you watch more and more you'll see she is actually very expressive is just her own style and more just small, but you can see it in her face and small movements when she is really playing hard, even though it looks like isn't going hard at all.

I think it’s more her actual self than a stage performance, in that she’s probably just more introverted or reserved, so the smiles come out more at certain moments or when she’s actually really happy. After the Judgement Day album, we have seen more smiles, but I assume it’s because shes actually happier, and not an attempt to reduce a stage performance she did in the past. Just my opinion. Just to add: I definitely want to see more piano on a future album. I enjoy it a lot.

@@SomethingToDo360 she is definitely a lot more smiley now and in her channel you do get to see more of her fun side but she is still more reserved than the others. In an interview way in the early days they did kinda go in to their stage personas. Also in the videos from the 2021 concert we have to remember she's almost 6 months pregnant and was feeling it. You can see her taking her shoes on and off during the concert and that probably contributed to her expressions.

The Chopin piece Miyako (guitar/keyboards) is playing in the intro is "Etude OP10, No. 12" known as the "Revolutionary Etude." In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was called the "November Revolution" but ended in failure due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's agent presented "Etude OP10, No. 12" in Paris. Because of the agent's exaggerated publicity, people called this piece "Revolutionary Etude. Miyako composed "Swan Song" based on this "Revolutionary Etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony. Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics based on the historical background of "Revolutionary Etude" and inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake. "SwanSong" is a requiem dedicated to the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only LOVEBITES could complete.

Fami pronounced like Mommy replaced Miho who actually Left the band for personal reason there was no animosity between her and the band in fact she told her fans to keep following the band it wasn't a situation where she was "Replaced". The band was devastated and went on hiatus for a year before coming back to hold auditions which Fami won and rightly so she also is a bass hiatus.

If you get the chance, please check out the video of Miyako's piano solo performance of "Eagle Fly Free". P.S. Last November, Miyako's piano recital was held for only one day in Tokyo. The horrors of getting drunk. I had an uncle who tried to walk home from a bar that was almost right across the street from his house out in the country. Miyako’s stage persona has become more serious over time, but LOVEBITES music has become more complex. I think her years of piano practice has made her hyper focused on stage…we’re here to listen to her play after all. She has said a couple of times recently that she can’t relax into a song with piano parts because she’s the centre of attention and a mistake will stand out clearly. I saw her evening piano recital in December. It was absolutely beautiful…and I told her that.

Glad you played this version, the best version especially because of the mix. Miyako started playing piano at age 3 and is self taught on guitar which she started around age 18. Asami has some pipes on her. Miyako what can I say... the amount of precision she shows on the piano with the fingers and then to add speed into it. It had to be a easier transfer for her to the guitar. I took piano for several years and never got to the point she did. But damn that's a lot of practice. Midori holy shit she fucling awesome. Then we have Miho who left the band and now we have Fami who fits right in with them. How lucky that they found a bassist that makes the band better, Fami gives them a darker sound but she fits in perfectly. AND then we have Haruna virtually none stop and no degeration in her play. They still show they are heavily influenced by Iron Maidden.

Miyako actually has a very fun, sweet and humble personality offstage. She's very focused when it comes to playing and practicing music, which is probably why she's such a phenom on multiple instruments. Outside of that, she is as bubbly sweet woman who enjoys life with family and friends as well as traveling and fishing. She also has a very beautiful genuine smile that lights up a room.

This song is The Miyako Show. Miyako has become my favorite musician. Keith Emerson had been my favorite musician for over 50 years, as I grew up playing piano, and he just mesmerized me. Miyako blows me away. She isc everything I love about music. Virtuoso level pianist and guitarist. Elite level composing, as evidenced by this song. Magnificent arranger. I just got a Dean USA Miyako Signature V guitar, inspired by her to learn guitar. Hopefully my piano background will help. My favorite band, showing what a true masterpiece is. This song is composed/arranged _from the finish to the start_ . The piano part from the finish is "translated" into Metal melodies, and its Metal version is started after the piano intro. You can discover that youself, by the *bass* lines from the start: they are indentical with the *piano's* deep keys from the finish. Whether music professionals react to this with "Woah!" or not: _I personally_ find that "crazy" enough. To me, Míyako (piano/guitar) is a musical _prodigy_ , a music _genius_ , and I am amazed by her compositions and arrangements. Also in Lovebites' song "Lost in the garden" - where Míyako also plays a piano intro, and Asámi (vocals) plays a supportive piano part in the midst, blended into the front stage guitar "shredding". Anyway, Lovebites are _outstanding_ , head and shoulders above most current Metal bands (i.m.h.o.), and they belong to the best Metal that happened to me personally in _decades_ . In the 1980s, "Iron Maiden" conquered my playlist, and in the 2000s "HB" (Finnland) followed, and now "Lovebites" and "Nemophila" do, with charming smiles. 🙂And the best of all this: A peaceful co-existence of these awesome musicians is possible. 🙂

For your viewers who may not be familiar with him, Chopin was a Polish-born Romantic-era (1800’s) classical composer and piano virtuoso who lived most of his life in France. He is considered one of the great classical composers, specializing in highly technical works for piano. "Etude" is French for "study". Chopin's Etudes were written as "studies", or lessons, for his students. They ended up being popular things for professional pianists to play as part of their concerts, in part to show off their skills. This is one of the more famous ones and is considered one of the most difficult ones. Miyako, who composes a lot of Lovebites’ music, is a professional-level concert pianist, and was originally going to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and is now (quite obviously) an elite-level guitarist. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák and Chopin, as well as her stated favorite, Russian romantic composer Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor), with a passage by Rachmaninoff as the outro. For this performance, she actually played the Etude as the intro, but it’s only occasionally included in their shows.

Miyako is a musical genius for sure. No two ways about ti. They're all world class in each of their positions and its some sort of amazing luck that we end up with all of them in the same band. Asami has great stage presence and crowd control, but an entertaining thing is watching all of their different personalities on stage. There's a lot there, the more you see them perform. Miyako is may favorit in the band. Not is she only totally brilliant, she also has a nice and non assuming persona. She is not the one that take space and time from you. She is the one that don't talk so much, but is good at listen to you instead. Also someone that is good at concentrating and lose track of the world around her. She is focused.....oh yeah! She has been trained since age 3 as a classical pianist, she was taught that the music/instrument moves the listeners and not the musician. Miyako is self-taught at 18 on the guitar (she needed more to keep that genius brain involved). She writes, composes and scores many of the songs for LB and Asami does most of the lyrics. Midori and her practice away from the group and despite being polar opposites have blended together and influenced each other as well as elevated each other in their playing. Despite the genius brain she still needs her insanely talented bandmates to be able to play it LIVE perfectly. As an introvert myself. I would also guess she is a more introverted person. Opposite to Midori who is very extrovert. So rhey are like the Opposite of eachother (how we see them on stage.) What Ive seen watching other videos of every single one of them outside stage. They are all very warm and loving people and seems fun to be around. Hey come to think of it... Its like comparing Americans with Swedes. They say we are more of an introvert shy people in general. And Americans are more outgoing...Just different how we all are :) Miako is an absolute genius when it comes to her musicianship. Begun play piano at 3 and electric guitar at 18. In part her serious mien is a stage thing but I think her being classically trained from a very young age has marked her. You rarely see classical musicians smiling, headbanging or stuff like that. Though in their latest DVD she seems to move and interact more, from what i have seen.

Lovebites Wolfpack makes the Kiss Army look like a bunch of kids. Asami may be a little firecracker but Haruna is the band's nuclear sparkplug. Miyako is all business on stage. Her concentration level is super high. When she is happy on stage she does her 360° spin. Off stage she smiles and jokes around a lot. I think people sometimes go a bit overboard with this "why don't they smile more often?" (I bet nobody tells Slipknot to smile more!). I think you have to bear in mind as to whether it's appropriate or not. If you want to see them smiling then watch one of their fun party songs such as "Raise some Hell" or "We the United". Swan Song is a song about death for heaven's sake.... a sombre serious subject in which it would be downright bizarre if they were smiling. I even heard one person comment that they didn't smile when playing "Under the Red Sky". They are Japanese and the song is about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima! Why on earth would anyone expect them to be grinning their way through that one? It would be deeply disrespectful to the dead of Hiroshima for one thing. They perform appropriately to the subject and emotions of the song.

Congratulations on your sobriety Scotty! Miyako, on occasion, will be playing the piano with her guitar strapped to her back. Might be the only one in the world that does this....lol I'm a happy person but I don't smile much. For some people it just doesn't feel natural. I think that's the case for Miyako. Probably nothing to do with seriousness or focus. YOYOKA even said, sometimes she has to force a smile. Although she cranks a few natural ones out here and there.

Couple of the girls from the Jazz avengers goofing around, both playing guitars in one hand, with a drum stick in the other hand, sharing the drum kit. Not Miyako level, but still having fun.

Here's to health and LOVEBITES!! Many prefer this version because of the mix, and are correct on this point at least so far as the piano is concerned. I will offer a less popular opinion that the 2023 version is the better performance by the band, and in particular Asami, who elevated her English and vocal delivery to a masterful level.

ここでは、Mihoが元気にプレイしている姿が見れて良かったです。 この後バンドを脱退してしまい大変ショックを受けました。DESTROSEと言う解散してしまった過去のバンドでは、young Miho&young Harunaが在籍していました。特にMihoのパフォーマンスが素晴らしかった。MazeやRinと言う曲がおすすめです。
