5'6" Spud Webb was the 1986 NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner and one of the shortest point guards in NBA history. He was drafted by Detroit in 1985 but they decided to let him go to Atlanta before he got to play his first pro game. He retired in 1997 after playing for Atlanta, Sacramento, Minnesota, and Orlando.

The Radical Priest is a reference to Father Daniel Joseph Barrigan, a Jesuit Priest and Catholic Pacifist who was arrested several times for protesting the Vietnam War. Me and Julio was a big hit single for Paul Simon in 1972, when I was 12 years old. This video, however, was made by Paul Simon in 1988. However, Paul Simon has said in videos that he doesn't know what The Mama saw, but it was probably something sexual. He never bothered to figure out what she saw. Besides John Madden, New York Yankee great Mickey Mantle hit Simon's pitch out of the park! I like the little rap segment at the beginning of the video. This was the first time I saw this video, so thanks for this reaction video!

This was from the first LP Paul Simon cut after breaking up with Garfunkel. He was going for a lighter attitude, funkier sounds, Latin rhythms, and a lot of sounds that he didn't think he could get to if he had to write Garfunkel's vocals at the same time. Paul Simon was a devoted New York Yankees fan, which explains Mickey Mantle's appearance. (Mantle was from Commerce, Oklahoma BTW.) Other Paul Simon songs of note (among many) are "Mother And Child Reunion" "Loves Me Like A Rock" "Still Crazy After All These Years" "Train In The Distance" "Boy In The Bubble." Three very essential Simon and Garfunkel songs: "Sound Of Silence" "Homeward Bound" and "America."

When I was a kid, Mickey Mantle was my favorite batter and Sandy Koufax was my favorite pitcher. To pitch the ball, Sandy would bring his arm back and back and back until his throw was starting from second base.

Just wonderful, thanks so much. Next "Loves Me Like a Rock","Graceland" "The Boy in the Bubble". Guys you really should watch the doc "In Restless Dreams" for your own enjoyment. FYI there are 5 Simon & Garfunkel albums. Paul Simon has put out 15 solo albums. Simon & Garfunkel, as wonderful as they were, were only prelude. Paul Simon is the pre-emminent singer/songwriter of today.

There was never a video for this song until years later. this neighborhood was cool with Paul Simon, a famous New Yorker.

I found your channel yesterday after a reaction to Cat Stevens (who I love) popped up on my channel. I have since binge watched loads of reactions and subscribed immediately. The same thing happened with your movie channel after I saw the reaction to The Breakfast Club.

One of my all time favorites ❤ this was the time when our playgrounds were playgrounds you don’t see this anymore in America. I miss these days.

The guy Paul chose to play basketball with him was Spud Webb, 5'6" NBA player who won the 1986 Slam Dunk contest.

Paul Simon is from Queens. :) This time period for him was a lot of fun. Saw someone else post Still Crazy After All These Years - that would be a good one to hit next - different sound altogether.

Paul Simon pitching to Mickey Mantle...historic. I grew up in Queens NY in the 50s and sixty's. All my heros.

I had been so sure that you'd done this one already, that I was stunned to not see it last night when I was looking for "Me and Julio" reactions. I almost feel like I willed this into existence in some way (which wouldn't have been my top pick for wish fulfillment, but I'll take what I can get).

Paul Simon really knows how to incorporate a variety of world musical influences and so often he can bring attention to musical groups like Ladysmith Black Mambaza who wouldn't have come to the attention of the world in the same way if he hadn't worked with them and promoted their accomplishments.
