Poor baby she lost a lot of blood....Love how Jingles started talking to her the moment he saw her getting in cage ❤❤❤
@AlreadyFallenOut32 жыл бұрын
My budgie had a blood feather around 2 years ago, i just noticed a red patch of blood on her wing, we watched a few tutorials while searching for the nearest vet to take her, eventually we ended up pulling the feather ourselves. It was such a scary situation but my little birdy is doing perfectly well now! This video would have been so helpful to watch back then, thank you for making this :) love you and your channel so much!

Great job taking care of that one. I thought this craziness exists only here in the states. Residential neighborhoods become war zones on July, 4. I am bracing myself for what is going to happen tonight.

Great job as always Donna in this emergency situation. It did look like it clotted once but was reopened again because of the dried blood all stuck there with Willow trying to preen the area reopening the wound. It is a lot of blood on the bottom of the cage and also on the tail feathers. The blood on the bottom of the cage looked fresh ( bright red - and you caught it just in time). I am amazed at how calm and docile Willow was wrapped with the towel and laying in the sink by herself afterwards. She probably felt instant relief and not a peep out of her. Yes, use the machine to drown out the extra noises. Can you move the cockatiels to the basement assuming it is fully underground to muffle the fireworks even for the week? It was crystal clear on what Jingles was asking over and over again . “ Where did you go?” To Willow “Where did you take her?” To you. Jingles was so so adorable, sweet, caring, and such a gentlemen! I was totally shocked by his sincerity. Where was Monty?
@Loveofpets2 жыл бұрын
I was happy that Willow was compliant. She was probably weak due to blood loss. Jingles is being so sweet to Willow. Monty was in another cage as he started to pluck Willows feathers and constantly mate with her. Jingles is more sweet with her at the moment. I cant move them downstairs as it the fireworks are just as loud and their is no room unfortunately. I am hoping it rains tonight so that no one will be lighting of fireworks.

What a great video - this is really useful. Glad you were able to help Willow out just in time, and had the presence to make this helpful video while you were at it. I've never had to deal with blood feathers with my budgies, but I've recently gotten myself a baby cockatiel and need to be prepared for anything with him. Now I know what to look out for. Stressed out but probably feels much better ! Did a bit of reading on blood feathers that indicates they can be painful and stressful on their own and they don't heal so even if it does clot and stops bleeding, it will be sensitive and will always pose a risk to the birds life unless removed...

Awe...those sweet lil faces ! Jingles is so sweet to check on Willow 🤗 I'm not much of a fan of fireworks...yes they are pretty to see..but what a mess all around. My 3 dogs shake tremendously and hide under the bed and the birds get so nervous. I live in Georgia in a big neighborhood... fireworks go off a couple days before and after the 4th of July and for the new year. Its all week 😳 I have ptsd and it bothers me as well, mostly because I know my animals will be scared. I'm glad I got to see how you remove a blood feather.

One of your old "damaged feather remove" video helped me year ago. I just hate firework, its not necessery, it scared the animals and pollute the air and noise but people just don't care. In India Diwali time they start it from the evening to till midnight. Poor Willow hope you feel better 💖💖🥺

Just my opinion on the fireworks topic, I am going to be try and play loud rain and thunder music during this weekend in the evenings starting at 8. I use the rain feature every night at a low volume, then I progressively get louder during the week of the forth to try and drown out most of the booms. My favorite channel for the is RIO rain channel. Maybe consider this to help destress your babies.

Poor lil Willow!! She'll be okay now that the broken feathers are gone.🙂 I remember when my Gilbee broke a blood feather in his wing & I had to pull it out. 😣 He wasn't happy about it, but he did get over it & it was obvious he felt much better after I pulled it. 🙂 It's amazing how much a broken blood feather hurts compared to a fully grown feather. When Gilbee first moved into his larger cage, he was always falling off the ledge & breaking feathers.🥺Thankfully, he only broke that one blood feather as I found it just as painful to pull as he did, having it broken.😔

Poor thing, I have two cockatiels and one night I forgot to put the nightlight on for them and I completely forgot about them so 2 hours later I comeback for a blanket and to check on them and there's just pin feathers absolutely everywhere, I didn't think about it that much but I look over to be horrified because there's feathers everywhere and my bird was bleeding. I assume it had happened recently because the blood hadn't dried up yet. So I went and got a paper towel, got my bird on my finger, and wiped the blood away. She stopped bleeding before I even entered the room. Ever since that happened, I've been traumatized that they would get night frights while I'm gone and bleed out on the cage so whenever I leave, there's a source of light next to the cage. So far its never happened as one as im in the room but when I leave, they scream and bite me when I return. Even during the day. However they're both very gentle birds and I've never put them in harms way.

That is not a good idea to use a pair of tweezers. I found the best solution for that is just to rub the pin feathers between your thumb and forefinger Those are new feathers growing out. They're covered with a waxy sheath waiting to drop off as the feathers mature. Your bird will love the close attention of your fingers and it old-fashioned neck scratching behind their ears, and behind their eyes. Your birds will certainly love a good old-fashioned finger rub better than pulling them out with a tweezers.
@Loveofpets Жыл бұрын
I agree that you do that with pin feathers, however when you have to pull a feather your fingers won't work. Did you watch the whole video? I had to actually pull a broken blood feather not massage it.
