this was so fun to talk about ive had all theses things trapped inside for so long cause the fandom just couldn't handle criticism which like I get it the show is still good and had an unfortunate cancellation that caused alot of stuff to be rushed but at the end of it they still chose the things they added in and well some of it just didn't work and wasted time obviously we can't go back and change things but we can talk about what could have been and even take what happened as a reminder to think about what to do if any of use ever have there own show XD also drop 💛 emojis in the comments thnx

I loved his relationship with Darius. I feel like it could’ve been a perfect contrast to how he was with Bellows. Just getting to see the play-by-play of how interactions are and how they work between a two characters like maybe we could’ve seen more how he was open and comfortable with Darius, but really fearful of his own ‘uncle’ Also, they did my little man Gus so dirty.

I really love that thing too I just really like how they have that sibling bond without being siblings which is just so cool and fun I really love the fan made videos of them and Vee together doing the sibling dance song situation it is just so cute I just really don't like how they did Vee dirty around the ending and what I mean by that is she looks nothing like Luz I sort of understand why but they could have at least had them look the same just with a different hair color like for instance how she was turning back into her original form but she still looked like Luz with the added spots as freckles on her face which is just so adorable to me I mean I did like how they did her hair around the ending which is which is the blonde with the turquoise tips which is adorable as well to me. ​@@SammyRobinson62232

I personally really loved the Huntlow dynamic, as I connected a lot with Willow and I've never really gotten to see the "handsome edgy bad boy falling head over heals for the chubby/fat girl" dynamic in media before. I thought it was really nice rep to see, especially in a kids show: I know it would've meant a lot to me as a kid, if I'd gotten to see that, and probably would've helped in building my confidence. Him having a crush and finding himself blushing over her would've been enough for me, though, and I agree that time could've been better spent elsewhere in what little remained after the cancellation. Love the re-design, as always.

It confused me as hunter was described as a teen prodigy by lilith, but they never show him being particularly capable. You'd think Belos would ensure that Hunter got the best training. And yes i know he cant use msgic without his staff but still.

Would have been much better if the reason he was a teen prodigy was because since he can't use magic like everyone else he feels like he needs to prove himself and be the best, that he's worthy of being the golden guard. Heck could have a bonding moment with Amity about the pressure of having high expectations put on you.

💛 Golden boy golden hour! I really liked Hunter as a magicless, as I interpreted it as him having achieved his rank and skills in spite of his natural limitations, which is what spurned the ire of the coven heads as they are the embodiment of the highest caliber of magic within their respective field yet chose his relation as personal ward. It seeps of the biases on nepotism vs merit. My vote for next redesign is Gus, please.

My views on Hunter Pros: (1.) I love his dynamic with Luz, Gus, Darius, and flapjack (2. )I think him going to the human world was for the better, allowing him a break from the drama in the isles and giving him more interest. (3.)I like his design and his arc of becoming better and discovering himself. (4. )Controversial take I think him losing Flapjack is a good choice as it allows him to fully become his own person not having ties left to Caleb. (5.) I like his redemption isn’t mostly just Luz doing the work but the other characters sense Luz had a similar situation with amity it’s only fair for amity, willow, and Gus to aid with hunter. (5). I like his personality that bratty/geek energy is fun imo Negatives: 1. His arc while I enjoyed it, it was rushed. I’m not mad it happened but how it happened. It’s nice it wasn’t a instant side change after his face was revealed, but Sports in a storm was weird. (2.)Huntlow now I don’t hate the concept like most people. I feel any ship could work if you put time into it, this was not one of those cases. Willow being forgiving of hunter so quickly doesn’t bother me as I feel her forgiving amity was pretty fast I have strong feelings on it. But these relationships should have been a epilogue thing not in the main story. (3.)He has to much trauma while I get he has a sad past, that’s fine he didn’t need to be kicked that many times. Hollow mind, him pushing past his trama to help Gus, and losing flapjack I’m fine with. Him being “ half a witch” , getting scared of a belos illusion, and belos possession didn’t need to happen. (4.) he should have been their to get the final blow on belos with luz, Eda, and king. I mean it only feels fair compared to Raine. (5.) I don’t like his new palismen it should’ve been a wolf not another bird. It kinda defeats losing flapjack to just give him another bird. All that being said I still love the show and hunter, but it definitely does have issues that need addressing. Even if it doesn’t break the show for me. Love the redesign and can’t wait for Gus my illusion boy is the one that really needed Justice IMO ( I also head cannon him as Aroace).

Oh my glob, he looks so much cooler and I kinda wanna draw him now. I love the red cape! Also, I love the AU you've thought of. It's an interesting route to take on for him. Also yeah, having hunter spend more time with darius and the cats would've worked better storywise due to his ties with said characters (plus Belos). Plus, I think it's better to have him work out his issues first before the romance route. His crush on Willow is cute but that should've been put in the aftermath so that he would have more character growth. I love him, he's also my fav character, but I agree that they could've handled his growth differently than what we got now.

I understand why you have gripes like Hunter getting soft. While I don't think him being soft wasn't as bad in contrast to Amity now and her dedication just for Luz, I do feel Hunter kind of lost what made him special kind of. I do wished he had a different personality similar to when he was wearing his mask. He isn't bad by many means but I do feel out of everyone I kind of wished we could've explored him and Widow's relationship more. Or I don't know what does he think of Lilith and yet besides Kikimora he doesn't have any personal feelings on Lilith. Why? I honestly feel we could've had more on Hunter's relationships with the Emperor's Coven. Besides Kikimora who is a brat to him I do wish the coven was expanded upon. I still feel Hunter is the best redemptions and in my opinion was more sympathetic in contrast to Lilith's arc. People still dislike Lilith because they feel she was an irresponsible older sister. While Hunter's arc hit harder because he is relatable to people dealing wht toxic upbringings or occults. Though yes I do understand how frustrating Hunter's arc was him being just a softie in the end. But overall nice redesign though I still prefer Hunter's original design.

Tbh on the topic of Hunter getting massively trauma slapped repeatedly, I personally realized I do that too, but in my case it's not fun as much as it is my way of bonding with the characters I like the most. Trauma just makes me cry and want to hold them, it makes them memorable for me. My favorites are always the absolutely broken, tragic and traumatized ones. There's even a running joke with my friends that you can tell which of my OCs are the favorites based on how miserable I make their life. But obviously once you break them like that, you need to have consequences, to show they didn't just go through it and were fine. Nah, break that bitch, but then give them comfort too, (as a small relief for all the shit you made them go thru lol) Still do agree they kinda massacred the poor boy at the end, he deserved so much better! At this point I am mega happy that every Friday after I get off work, I have your videos to run to, thank you so much for blessing us with your content 🥹🥹🥹 you make my weekend have the best start every time ❤

I despised how the Owl House writers tried to build chemistry between Hunter and Willow with the whole “Half-a-witch” thing. Hunter didn’t have magic and was given a powerful staff to compensate for it. He wasn’t bullied by the Emperor’s coven for not being a witch. However, Willow was bullied for years for receiving her magic late and being awful at abomination magic. The Owl House crew tried to force a nonexistent connection between Hunter and Willow despite how drastically different their situations are. It feels like the writers just ran out of ideas for these two and slapped them together despite having other important stuff to focus on.

"Chose" is a rough word always when it comes to production, because it implies that everything the writers want to do, the entire team and production staff approves of. It's complicated. THANK! YOU!! I have the same issue with Willow and Hunter ship. I saw Willow being the tough little sister to Hunter, how she acts like the sisterly type to everyone in the hexside group. The color scheme of her hexside uniform and the final outfit for the Day of Unity just has Aroace colors, like Luz in her Grom outfit (although there wasn't much blue) it still had colors of her being Bi. Plus, it would've been a good representation of a healthy rejection, this time the girl rejecting the boy. I love Hunter so much! The original and your AU! AH! It is so good!!! I wanna give him the comfort he so deserves! For Darius, it could've been something a bit more tragic like him witnessing the death of his mentor by Belos. Why Darius acts the way he does towards Hunter, it's to shield him from what Belos is truly like.

The whole golden guard cocky attitude i interpreted as a manipulation via belos. Hunter’s only actual relationship is to Belos, and Belos encourages Hunter’s cocky attitude when the golden guard and that makes him 100% less likeable and less likely to form a bond with another person that could possibly take control away from Belos. A lot of the reasons Hunter acts the way he does is because of Belos’ control and manipulation because he sees Hunter as more of a tool than a person

I sort of agree with your points about Hunter having too much of a role near the end of the story… I’m probably not remembering some stuff but when I watched the show for the first time, between Hunter’s introduction and him getting into the main squad of characters it felt like he barely had significant emotional connections to the main cast and he was just kinda shoved with the other kids after “Hollow Mind” and getting trauma… I was like, now all of the sudden he’s buddy-buddy with everyone?? We barely know this guy! But it’s been a while since I’ve watched the later half of the show so maybe I’m forgetting some stuff

An yeah I agree with a lot of the things you said about Hunter, when he was the golden guard I enjoyed his character a lot but then he joined the main cast, and had so much screen time, then many people wanted him to be the main character and stuff and I just got annoyed with his hype and how much they used him. Gus was one of my favorites, I was so sad he wasn’t used more :,( but your au seems to fix everything I feel was an issue with him! Honestly hunter is written like how an edgy teen writes their oc-just giving them trillion types of trauma n hurting them physically n mentally so much for no reason then “its fun” Also tbh-i rlly hate willow/hunter, not only does it feel lik it only exists for the sake of romance but also the way the two act in the relationship feels so..ooc-why is willow,a high school kid, able to beat hunter, a child hunter, with ease when she just knows how to control plants?? And hunter being overly shy and blushy around her feels so ooc for him Him & luz ironically have much MUCH better chemistry then him & willow

Okay, a few things I wanna say. 1. First off amazing redesign especially the splash of red and black. I don't know if it was said in this video but red and black are Flapjack colors and are a huge contrast to his Golden Guard colors which are gold (duh), white, and blue. It's such a crazy switch that he’s wearing black which is the color of death and mourning even though Hunter is now on the good side as opposed to the white in his old uniform which is the color of purity and he was on the dark side! Black and red are two colors the show really should have played with instead of at the end where Hunter is wearing blue, brown, and brownish-red. They are all just too dull and not expressive enough, especially for an epilogue. And I only say the colors because the design itself is fine! I would still change it personally into something else but it’s still overall pretty good! 2. I actually disagree with Hunter getting FlapJack’s powers is de-coding Hunter. I found it as a nice send-off for FlapJack because you said yourself Hunter was being too much of a punching bag. Now Hunter can defend himself and not feel like a burden on his friends. And yes Eda did feel the same way too but she was able to use the curse to her advantage even if she could use magic. Hunter, unfortunately, had nothing… but me saying that maybe he could have teamed up with Alastor and gotten artificial magic but I don't think Hunter should still use things that were taught by Belos he needs to stray away from that. 3. Yep Huntlow sucks! Totally agree I even don’t like Hunter having a one-sided crush it all just wastes time. Just have Willow and Gus be decent acquaintances and be close to Amity and Luz they both have qualities that are equal to one another (Amity and Hunter’s terrible home life) and are very tied to the plot AKA Luz. Develop the characters, and develop the world-building, literally, the writers should have done anything else but make Huntlow a thing. No chemistry, surface-level interactions, and rushed conclusion. So many reasons not to put Huntlow together and that's totally disregarding the fact that especially compared to Hunter Willow is as interesting as wet cardboard. Sorry, not sorry! Also, have you ever thought of the idea of pairing Hunter with Emira? I’ll keep it short it’s basically Huntlow but 10x better! Fun dynamic, similar home lives, and very cute interactions they could have, and this all applies to Goldric as well but just a thought because I love both pairings! 4. Although I will admit I am a little biased considering this is my all-time favorite character in the whole show other than Labyrinth Runners Hunter was great in every episode he was in. Even then with the episode I'm talking about Hunter’s writing wasn’t at all bad (other than his random newfound crush on Willow), it's his interactions with Gus and Willow that feel hallow because of their both poorly developed character so Gus of all characters is able to help Hunter with his anxiety attacks considering he’s never done that before and nothing we’ve seen from him would make guess that just feels out of left pocket. Maybe Willow but still I would rather have Eda do it because she understands stress and how to control it. But going back to all the other episodes I thought Hunter was always the best part even in Any Sport in a Storm because he’s put in situations where he usually isn’t and does make mistakes and that's all great because you why? It's a character! And Hunter makes up for it in the end so even better! 5. Hunter being a punching bag I guess isn’t untrue maybe a little oversimplified for my taste because it's not like Hunter’s treatment was because the writers/show just think he’s a punchline. No, it adds to the shifting tone in Season 2B and Season 3 it shows how horrible of a person Belos is. And I love how it's mostly show don’t tell and when it’s not we see how manipulated Belos is. Hunter isn’t the only one who gets this treatment Eda, Lilith, and even Luz (although personally, I think Luz and her relationship with Belos unfortunately regressed her character while for everyone else it expanded it Same goes for the Boiling Isles society). I had a lot to say but still a great video! Keep up the good work!💛💛💛💛💛

The flap this I guess more based on the whole palisman concept cause hunter has zero magic and heavily relies on his palisman so when flap died and he got his abilities it was oh well guess hunter dosen't need his palisman anymore if he has magic (which like the epilogue never shows him using his flash speed so I'm left to believe it didnt stay) but yeah that was my main hangup And the hunter punching bad I guess is more due to what the crew said about how they enjoy hurting him along with the behind the scenes where orginally when belos blows up hunter was the only one who was going to be splashed in his gusts and its like OK not feeling great about all the previous stuff that was done to hunter

thank god his eyebrows are finally good !!!! also i totally agree with the sense that i’m glad we did have aroace rep with lilith, but i’m also really put off by it ?? as an aroace person, i’m so sick of the aroace characters always being shy/smart/generally introverted, but i was so on board for willow subverting that !!! and then huntlow happened… as for which characters to do next, i’m excited for both, but i need gus to be saved from the way they treated him…which might be because he’s visibly black…just saying (i know they gave luz curly hair in s3, but that felt more like they did it just because of what fans were saying)

Watching this Halloween redesign series made me just realize how both The Owl House, and Idolmaster Shiny Colors, two pieces of media I love, share the parallel of being positively acclaimed for it's writing where in the sea of content produced by their companies that own them (in TOH's case it's Disney, while with shinymas, it's Bandai Namco) essentially being on a whole nother level of the stories that came before them in terms of quality, end up falling apart later on in both of their existence. AND also have characters that are clearly popular not being written too well and being pushed too much. Of course in The Owl House's case it's Hunter, while in Shiny Color's case it's Luca in CoMETIK, including Hana, because they both seemed like interesting characters at first (Especially Luca but that was before her unit was formed), but when you see how they were integrated into the cast of characters we already know, it was just becoming a mess. Somehow, from what I hear, Haruki is the only member of CoMETIK who has (simple) but effective writing where the quality doesn't drop for her from the start, although that could change Or maybe I'm trying too hard to make my interests be related, I dunno.

I'll always be salty about how underdeveloped the main kids are, they never felt like a solid group to me and willow and gus just felt like secondary characters (moreso gus he was done so dirty) i know we didn't get more episodes but i would've sacrificed any sport in a storm for a group adventure where hunter could get involved and chaos, misunderstandings and bonding ensue. Now that I think about it, I think the show should have given Hunter and Darius a moment similar to Amity and Alador. Darius was kind of being an unfair dick to Hunter, but it's completely forgotten about and brushed aside. Of course, it's mostly the fandom that likes to pretend Darius was never mean, but it would be a little nice if the show acknowledged that.

He looks really good. My favorite part is how you drew his face it’s very unique compared to the main cast. It’s a shame they rushed so much. I honestly think they should have axed the collector arc I’m not saying it’s a bad arc I didn’t get that far in the show so I can’t say on the quality of the arc I’m saying it should have been axed because the cancellation. In my opinion it’s better to cut ideas you haven’t started yet and focus on finishing arcs you already have in progress when things like that happen as then you will at least have a consistent story. And who knows maybe they could have released an art book or a behind the scenes video talking about all the ideas that didn’t get done creating more for fans in the long run. But that’s just my thoughts.

@@LovesArt23 I think it’s just creators now a days not being as flexible as the creators before them (if you look at old interviews creators got screwed over so much in the past it was ridiculous but most of them still managed to make a decent story). Don’t get me wrong it sucks to get promises one thing then have the rug pulled under you but the concept of creativity itself is a tool used to adapt and overcome difficulties and I think a lot of newer creators have forgotten that.

It's such a shame we never get to see more of the Belos and Caleb backstory and the possible connection they have to the Clawthorn family. I'm really liking some of the connections that you're making with Hunter's facial features! I really have to wonder why in the process of getting cancelled the writers just focused on stuff that wasn't really important to the overall plot, like the random shipping and just sidelining characters *cough* Gus! *cough*. I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt that it's possible that a lot of the episodes were written before they realised they were getting cancelled so a lot of the stuff that happened was going to get some sort of pay off in the third season they never got. However I do feel like even if a fair amount of the episodes had already been written, if I were the show runner in that situation I would've just been like "okay guys we need to get to the end quick so unfortunately we're gonna have to cut some of the scripts, and just use the more plot relevant ones and rework them a bit so we can streamline this!"

@@LovesArt23 I think in this day and age where a lot of shows are getting cancelled before they’re halfway through their story, the creators need to start creating back up plans or something. Then at least if they only have a small window to tell their story they can either A. Look at an alternative source like comics/graphic novels or another studio to pick it up, or B. If they’re quite a fair way through but only have one season to wrap things up they should have an outline of the main plot points they should cover to get to the end. It would still probably come out a bit rushed but at least it would mean the show runner and their team of writers priorities the main plot and how to end it the best way they can, with the time frame they have.

idk, as somebody from an abusive background with a relationship quite similar to Hunter and Belos, I really related to his character and constantly getting beat up by the world around you. Struggling to fit in with my peers, being "adultified" and expected to complete absurd tasks yet also still being treated like an incapable and dumb child. Coping with PTSD from the whole experience, finding true love and acceptance with one's friends... and the real punch to the gut was me losing my pet bird, who honestly kept me alive by being the one thing I could look forward to seeing every day and for loving me unconditionally. I don't mind that they "did him dirty" or whatever. He's the only character I've encountered that encapsulates my trauma perfectly, but they also show that there's a light at the end of the tunnel. He gets a happy ending, and that gives me hope that I'll get my happy ending too.

I agree with a lot of your points in my opinionhunter joining the main cast could've worked if There was more time in the show and If it was done way later in the series but I do still agree that it was done poorly in the show but I don'treally blame the crew for rushing it since the show was cancelled I honestly don't know why they shoved hunter and willow together out of the blue, like I legit got whiplash because it came out of nowhere, like I don't mind them bonding over both being perceived as weak by others but they made it seem like their situations were more similar than they actually are, I still would've liked to see him join the flyer derby team but it should've been a slower build with him regaining their trust, I really wish they just made them friends Willow was totally done dirty because all the crew wanted to do with her in the later seasons was ship her with hunter I actually really like hunters friendship with gus but I hate how it was done in the show, willow having the heart to heart would've made way more sense I hate how we barely got any Darius and hunter interactions, it had so much potential and it could've shown hunter learning to have a healthy relationship with an adult figure I honestly wish we got some hunter and lilith interactions given how they were both in the emperor's coven but had very different experiences I hate how the show treats hunter, and I'm an angst gluten, have him be abused? Sure, it works with his character, have him find out his whole life was a lie? Cool, plot progression, have him be possessed by said abuser? Kinda pushing it but it could work if done right, killing flapjack!? Jeez that's just overkill I really didn't like that they just gave hunter flapjacks power, it just felt cheep to me, I really liked the idea of hunter being disabled and flapjack being an emotional support animal I really like your redesign and the au sounds awesome (huntric yay) can't wait to see more, I'm honestly looking forward to seeing the blight twins the most, their whole thing was that they wanted to become more themselves and not just a matching set but we never even see them get their own individual outfits or style until the epilogue (i'm not counting edric without the concealment stone because I doubt he would've worn that if he new people would see it) And lastly I agree that stranger_pringle is keeping huntric alive

opino lo mismo que tu sobre la relacion de Hillow y Hunter, fue muy apresurada y no pude sentir apego o gusto por la pareja, se que la creadora tenia un mejor desarrollo para ambos pero por la cancelacion de la serie tuvo que apresurar las cosas lo que hizo que esta relacion se viera afectada, le falto profundidad, momentos momentos de ellos a solas compartiendo y conociendose mas, siento que no debieron hacer que terminaran juntos a medida que se hacian los especiales, ya que se sentia que algo faltaba(desde mi punto de vista) A mi en cierta forma me gustaba que hunter no tuviera habilidades magicas, ya que se entendia mejor con Luz ya que ella es una Humana y ella usa "Magia" de otra forma, ubiera sido lindo que Luz y Hunter compartieran momentos de aprendisaje y Hunter aprendiera que no importa si no naces con magia, si no que aprenda que puede hacer su propia magia. As someone who only enjoyed Huntlow because it mirrored my own relationship, I totally get it. Poor Hunter really never got to have a family or real friends and he latches on to the first group of people who show him kindness and stick to them instead of trying to branch off. He's only ever given growth if it's attached to another character. But otherwise love your design and the more red in his palette looks fantastic with the blond and green eyes

My man Gus need justice with his design. How the hell does Hunter (Part human or human? I don't know) and Luz( Full human) look more magical than Gus (A witch)? They give Gus the most basic hairstyle and hair colour and they give him the most basic eye colour. As a black person I was very disappointed to see such a design in a fantasy world. Don't get me started at the epilogue they give him the Killmonger hairstyle which has been everywhere and they made it blond, which is the go-to colour for black people in fantasy. Couldn't they make his hair colour orange or something? I don't know which colour, but his design is so basic.

Absolutely love the redesign! I really enjoyed Hunter when he made his debut as the Golden Guard but the direction they took him with in the show left a very bad taste in my mouth and left me disliking his character. Especially with episodes where it felt like he was just wasting screentime that could've been used for characters that needed more focus and development (Any Sport In A Storm & Labyrinth Runners for ex). Also really hated that the writers shoved him and Willow together in such an unnecessary relationship that didn't fit either of their characters. Kinda disappointed that we didn't get any further explanation of the mess that is Belos & Caleb's lore aswell despite it being so integral to Hunter's character. So glad I can finally publicly express these opinions without being being bashed by the fandom lol Also you should totally do Gus next!

Imo I feel like him being called "half a witch" Or at least "considered" one Still makes sense .. exactly because He has no magic. He works alongside other witches and performs like one with his staff (and later on with flapjack) but he can't actually use magic by himself and kinda turns useless without it Like a ..HALF a witch- in all fairness "wannabe witch" would have made more sense but Im kinda confused on how Hunter having no magic means that insult doesn't work for him... when arguably speaking it makes more sense towards HIM and other characters who can't use magic (luz, eda, Lilith)

I think why it Doesn't work for him is mainly due to all the details and stuff they've shown for hunter we learn from lilith hes a prodigy and the first time we meet him hes performing crazy spells yes hes using a fake staff to do it but to be so young and able to do all that is crazy and then in the episode where he explains he doesn't have magic we see hes extremely capable without it being able to keep up with Luz and how he fights kiki even in the episode where Darius calls him half a witch hunter Immediately says Belos said he didnt need magic to serve to which Darius dosen't correct him just saying he doesn't deserve the patch (which again just feels like Darius just said it to say it so hinter would have a connection to willow) plus when willows called it we see that it mostly has to do with the fact she cant control or isnt preforming at the rate she should be I feel hunter while not happy he doesn't have natural magic wouldn't be seen as less as hes excelled more but yeah like you said if he was called something else that would have worked better

Like you said it really does make it seem like they just did it so they have something to connect with. Which is weird since you could have them connect over the fact that they're sorta opposites yet still seek for the same thing, with hunter going about it...more like a child soldier...so not healthy, plus the fact they're both Prodigy's. Willow was a late bloomer and more bullied over her incompetence...but we kinda sleep on the fact that she's the strong house of the hexsquad...
