if you get your old bulkhead and photograph it square on, you can get it vinyl printed with a self adhesive backing stick that on, anyone looking in will see a standard metal bulkhead for that true stealth effect.

What about a bifold door ? Cut the door in half ,then hinge it down the centre ? If it hits the kitchen ……it’s looking great

you only need to pull the bulk head back so far as you have to allow the seats to recline. The seat bases are quite high off the floor. Why not put some pockets in the bulk head low down to make use of the wasted space between the bulk head and seats at floor level. You may even then be able to push the bluetti forward into the cabin area next to the kitchen unit. You could use the pocket on the passenger side for boots/shoes etc as that will be need them when getting in and out of the van.
@kindamagicdotcodotuk12 сағат бұрын
If you were to put the hinges on the right hand side of the door instead of the left it would open towards your kitchen and stop in front of it. You would then have much more room to exit the cab too!

Love the build videos. I’d suggest putting the hinges on the other side too. Easier access from the van’s sliding door, less obstruction on the kitchen unit and easier access from the driver’s seat.
@johnmorrissey364913 сағат бұрын
What not cut the door out of the centre of the steel panel and dress it with a couple of right angled pieces into the van . That way you keep the detail on the edges at the sliding door
@budgetmerch12 сағат бұрын
Nice. I would hinge the trailing six inches of that door (hinged side) so that as you open it you can fold the end piece back and away from the door opening (on another hinge like a bi-folding door), effectively shortening the door width so that the door misses the end of your kitchen unit, but I'm sure you'll figure it out. Looking good. 👍

I’d like to make 2 pocket door panels , one in the center and one behind the passenger seat , that slide on separate tracks and store with the fixed panel behind the driver seat . Doors can be just a flat plywood panel stiffened with metal U channel along the side edges . This way I can have my passenger seat on a swivel for use when camping .

You could trim the part of your door below the kitchen height so it clears the kitchen and add a spacer to the driver's side of the opening to match the bit you have trimmed off - only the hinge side needs to be straight on a door ... or is that going to wind up your ocd too much!

17:30... shaun you're loosing quite a bit of space at the back of drivers seat and bottom of the partition wall i know you said you would use it for storage... but could you not build a small area for the power station to fit into and then just have the partition wall sitting on top of the power station boxed area? And surely that will solve your issues of the bed and kitchen measurements

Since you moved the partition out from where the bulkhead was mounted.... There might be enough space to have the door on cab side... Cut in half and jave 2 piece sliding door 🤷

@ I’ve looked at the website van furniture that looks like it all needs scribing so I wouldn’t stress out to much, maybe get your dad to hang your door so you only have the butts of the hinges showing it just looks more professional build wise you usually have a 3mm gap around a door too for it to swing properly I know it’s not very thick but that might help with clearance.
