Thank you for taking the time to produce such a professional film and with some lovely footage to demonstrate the cameras abilities with as well. Be really interested to see this camera perform with some fast prime lenses at some stage. Some really natural colours coming from its sensor. Great work.

@@LoveWhatYouDo love the way your exposure came out. When you shoot V log...Do you over expose two stops, or how do you do it?
@DirectorsGarage6 жыл бұрын
I'd just add that you can record RAW 5.6k externally, should you have the need, to a recorder like the Atomos Inferno.
@ChrisChevs5 жыл бұрын
I don't think it does raw.

@@ChrisChevs It does ProRes Raw out to an Atomos recorder. Does not do raw internally.

Excellent piece! Very informative, easy to follow and beautifully shot. Thank you for taking the time to give us such a comprehensive tour of the camera. I feel like I could pick up and shoot after this. Have you tried this vs RED Raven?

Thanks! RED Raven vs. EVA1 would be a good test. I have not compared them yet.

I just bought Eva and currently just own a 18-35 mm lens. which lens should I get to pair with that wide angle lens? a 24-70, 50-100, or 70-200?
@LoveWhatYouDo3 жыл бұрын
That depends on how you shoot. I don’t shoot a lot of telephoto stuff, so the 24 or 50 would work for me. If you need a long lens, go with the 70. I also like shooting with lenses that are fast - 2.8. A lot of the long lenses are slow. Not great for low light situations.

How can I match Panasonic AU-EVA1 to my B roll camera Sony A7S III. I do like S Cinetone on Sony and like Scene 2 on EVA1. What is the best method to make the cameras match up? Should I shoot in VLOG and SLOG3? I have no idea 😬

does the eva1 have very low roller shutter when it comes to fast panning & tilting on a sachtler FSB 8 video head what i mean is filming aircraft ETC airshows when zoomed in on the image fast panning can the EVA1 be smooth with no jerking
@LoveWhatYouDo4 жыл бұрын
It does show rolling shutter issues like all cameras with a rolling shutter. If you search EVA1 ROLLING SHUTTER, you will find some tests. I am not sure that it would cause much issue panning with a fast moving object like a plane. You tend to see it more with objects that are straight and long like a vertical line.

was this shot internally or externally
@LoveWhatYouDo6 жыл бұрын
It was shot internally. The camera should have an update soon allowing for even higher quality capture. I've read this about it: This new free firmware upgrade which will be available at the end of March certainly adds even more features to an already impressive camera. The EVA1 will be able to output up to a 5.7K RAW signal over SDI. Along with the RAW output being enabled the EVA1 also receives the ability to record in the ALL-I Intraframe codec. This is a nice beefy codec that should satisfy most shooters needs. The ALL-I Intraframe codec will allow the EVA1 to record internally at 4K DCI or UHD in 10-bit 422 at 400Mbps. For 2K or FHD recording, you can choose to record in either 200Mbps or 100Mbps in a 10-bit 422 color space.

@@LoveWhatYouDo .... Great review by the way.. I have to ask... As I'm also a panny user.. Have been since 2004 with the launch of the dvx100.. I also purchased the AG AF100... Gosh, I loved that camera.. Very filmic and colors were dead on.. Yet.. With EVA...i feel its still panny colors..but more exaggerated.. Like toyish.....or pastel colors.. Not bad..just pastel.. Something like you would see on Disney's live action film...Cinderealla which was shot on film.. Very beautiful colors in the movie....That was very colorful..but it worked for that.. Its Cinderella... So.. I understand many users who are new to Panasonic..... love EVA.. I can see.. especially if your comimg from sony which looks more video.. . but with eva...i dont feel its a 4k AF100... It not the typical panny colors.. Its more exaggerated.... So... I have to ask.. Do you also feel that EVA..is more pastel colors instead of neutral?
@LoveWhatYouDo6 жыл бұрын
You can create a lot of looks with this camera when you shoot in log. Check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2GTgqqufZ58bLc

@@LoveWhatYouDo .....the answer you gave......"You can create a lot of looks with this camera."........isnt answering my question..when I asked......"Do you find the colors to be pastel like? ...your answer just shows the different luts you can apply...but at that same time... its still applying luts to an existing color science...in this case....yellowish or pastel. With EVA..... If i applied those looks or luts to a sony FS5...granted they would have different looks...because of rhe lut..but still conditiined to the color science of sony...in Sony's example..... towards blue.. So..you cam have matrix or vintage Lut applied to sony..but still be bluish.....at the same time... Color science is something that's embedded to the camera... Just like if you shot log with a canon.....an ..EVA 1....and a Sony..and then color graded....all those new graded frames should look the same right? But they don't! ... .......even after the grade....each footage from each camera would look different.... The luts just exaggerate, already what the camera's color Shifts to........... Makes sense? And yes... I already saw this video.. Im part of an EVA users group on Facebook and I see most of the tutorials when they first get released... So..again...the Question begs....as Canon leans more towards magenta and warm.............sony..towards blue and cool........and with EVA..still warm... But warm and pastel... At least for me... What do you think?
