Would I do an extra round in the beginning if I’m using baby weight yarn and a smaller hook? I’m worried my hat might be too small. If I do an extra round of increases would that affect the outcome?

​@@jlhyndman I think adding an extra round would make it longer, so that would probably help. But you would also probably want to make it wider. I'm not super experienced in crochet, but I would maybe just add a few more dc stiches when you're starting the magic circle? Don't quote me on that. I would just experiment with it. Nie also make a video for 0-3 months so maybe you could follow that instead since you have a thinner yarn kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGe5m3unrtWqd7c

Thank you so much! I've never had a crochet hook in my hands before in my life and it took me just over 3 hours to complete this, but I am so pleased with the result. For a first timer crocheter, it looks really great. I made it for my doll using Aran wool (it was all I had in the house) and it fits perfectly. Just up the hook size! I used a 4.5 and ID say it’s still definitely newborn! I’d recommend a 6 for 3-6 months and 7-8 for 6-12 months

I used a 5mm crochet hook and mine still came out small enough for maybe a baby doll...hehe. Not sure how that happened because I counted the stitches after each round. Were you able to successfully crochet a more appropriate size?

Hello, the best way to make it right is to mesure the diameter. For a baby, the head diameter is around 12cm, so you increase until you have it and then you go normal without increasing. This way you can use whatever crochet or wool. Hope it made sense 😅

Beautiful, I made it for a 14 inch baby doll and used a 4.0 G hook...so cute...only thing I recommend is to use a stitch holder at end of round 7 (when starting the 8th row that does third loop)...because when you get to end if you loose count it’s hard to see because you only chained one up....thanks for a great, easy video...looking forward to others.
