Home studio lighting for 9x11 space, no widows? Just purchased the Aputure Lightstorm COB 120D and Dome II for key. Is that too much? I got the Dome II because it would be softer, but it is huge. A smaller setup would be ideal so I can keep everything up.

Joshua Belanger Just depends what kind of look you’r going for. Bigger the dome, softer the light. I like it, but everyone’s different. It’s really good for when females are your subject too. You’ll be glad you have that big dome, much quicker than setting up a huge frame with muslin on it. 👌🏼😎 Good choice i think! Plus it’s on a dimmer, so just dim it down to get at the f stop you like.

I love these lighting videos. Seeing what others are using and in new ways I find invaluable. Thanks. Also, a bit off-topic, I've been using river rock in my sandbags rather than the sand I previously used. Again, great info.

Joao Porfirio I think that is a great light, one down side, it doesnt run off of batteries.

Joao Porfirio no clue, the Kino’s have me tethered to a wall as well. I just feel like all LEDs should be battery powered possible.

what if you use 2 x Apurture 120d behind a diffuser instead of one 300d? Any downsides to that? maybe it would just make for a larger area instead of distance?

spetsovich Oh for sure! Whatever gets the job done, doesnt have to be any specific brand i mentioned. If it’s got the good output, high CRI, i say why not?

I was looking at the 60 Godox as well, seem like a good intro light on the cheap, hopefully.

moeshickenyay yea ive seen a lot of good reviews on it, not sure if its strong enough on its own to be a key light. I also didnt like how it has to be tethered to the wall. Doesnt run on batteries.

A lighting kit I've been using a lot at school is the Kinotehnik Practilite kit. I've been spoiled by this beastly kit since the lights adjust in intensity and color temperature.
